Homer Thomas Williams Sr.
ALLEN -- Homer Thomas Williams Sr., 88, of Allen died Saturday, March 5, 2005, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.
Born in Dames Quarter, he was a son of the late John Williams and Bessie Johnson Williams. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Waters Williams, in 1992.
He attended public schools in Somerset and Wicomico counties. He was an Army veteran. He worked for Oliphant Chevrolet, now Courtesy Chevrolet, for more than 50 years. He was a school bus contractor for Wicomico County for 30 years and he was a livestock farmer for more than 30 years.
He is survived by one son, Homer T. Williams Jr. of Salisbury; one daughter, Ida Mae Holden and husband, Mervin, of Delaware; five grandchildren, Bernadine T. Warrington, Bernard Denotta Teagle, Antoinette T. Smith, Doris Cassidy and Zenobia Brown; and several nieces and nephews.
Three sisters, Ruth, Helen and Linda; and one brother, Fulton Williams preceded him in death.
A funeral service will be held Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Stewart Funeral Home on West Road and Olivia Street in Salisbury, where a viewing will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The Rev. William T. Wallace Sr. will officiate. Interment will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in Mount Calvary Church cemetery in Fruitland.
Arrangements are being handled by Stewart Funeral Home in Salisbury.
Doris Catherine Ensminger
HAGERSTOWN, Md. -- Doris Catherine Ensminger, 89, died Sunday, March 6, 2005, at Twin Oaks Assisted Living in Williamsport, Md.
Born June 24, 1915, in Hagerstown, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Irma Saylor Ensminger.
Doris Ensminger owned and operated Edwards Inc., known as Edwards five-and-dime, on the Boardwalk in Ocean City. After spending 45 years on the Eastern Shore, Doris sold the business in 1977 and retired to Catonsville, Md. She enjoyed traveling and belonged to many organizations in Catonsville. When her health declined in 2001 she moved to Williamsport to be close to family.
She was a member of Christ Reformed Church in Hagerstown and a member of Catonsville United Methodist Church of Catonsville.
She is survived by a niece, Betsy Harbaugh and her husband, Webster Harbaugh, of Hagerstown; and a nephew, Ronald Huffman of Texas.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Huffman, who passed away June 3, 2002.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Catonsville United Methodist Church at 6 Melvin Ave. in Catonsville, with the Rev. Mark R. Waddell officiating.
The family requests the omission of flowers; memorial donations may be made to the Twin Oaks Assisted Living-Activities Fund, 44 East Village Lane, Williamsport, Md. 21795.

Lottie Sarah Wainwright
PRINCESS ANNE -- Lottie Sarah Wainwright, 98, daughter of the late William White and Sarah White, was born Dec. 25, 1906, and departed this life Saturday, March 5, 2005, at Manokin Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was educated in the Somerset County public school system but spent much of her adult years in Philadelphia prior to returning to Princess Anne.
She was an active member of Metropolitan United Methodist Church for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Wainwright; her only daughter, Thelma Williams (White); two sisters, Annie McDowall and Mary E. Corbin; and four brothers, William (Bill) White, Mason White, Albert G. White Sr. and Omar White.
She leaves to mourn one grandson, Albert (Diane Washington-White) K. White of Princess Anne; great-grandsons, Tony and Bruce White of Rocky Mount, N.C., Bryan Deshields of Pennsylvania and Derrick J. Smith of Sacramento, Calif.; a great-granddaughter, Taunja Smith of Baltimore; nieces, Aretha (Sis) Richardson of Westover, Jacqueline White (Grant) of Princess Anne, Lorraine Polk, Sarah Robinson and Shirley Gaskin of Washington; and a great-niece, Carleta Stevenson of Princess Anne. She also leaves to mourn a son-in-law, Jonah Urquhart; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Metropolitan United Methodist Church in Princess Anne, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in John Wesley Bowland Hill cemetery in Princess Anne.

Margaret Joyce Cormier
SALISBURY -- Margaret Joyce "Peggy" Cormier, 71, of Salisbury died Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at her home.
Born in Dillion, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Albert H. and Ethel Clark Moore.
She graduated from Southern High School in Baltimore in 1952. She moved to Salisbury in 1971. Peggy enjoyed flowers and gardening in and around her home. Her favorite vacations were cruises spent with her husband and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Edmond Francis Cormier Sr.; three sons, Edmond F. Cormier Jr., Timothy Mark Cormier and Jeffery John Cormier, all of Salisbury; two grandchildren, Catherine Cormier and Spencer Cormier, both of Salisbury; two sisters, Merium Steadings and her husband, Paul, of Baltimore and Bobbi Walters of Salisbury; a brother, Albert Moore Jr. of Tampa, Fla.; and daughter-in-law, Monica Cormier of Salisbury.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Clark Moore.
A funeral service will be held Friday at 8 p.m. at Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury. Family and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Entombment will follow Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury.

Evelyn Virginia Smith
MARION STATION -- Evelyn Virginia Smith, 85, died Saturday, March 5, 2005, when the second child of the late Israel and Recie Watson made the transition from her earthly home to her heavenly home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Thomas Smith; two brothers, Lewis and William Watson; two sisters, Virginia Watson and Mary Roberts; and one granddaughter, Tonya Johnson.
She was born Feb. 10, 1920, in Mappsville. She received her education in Accomac County public schools. She was a former employee at Dulany Foods in Fruitland and a longtime employee of Vessey's Orchard and Paul Whittington.
Later in her adult life, she moved to Shelltown and was joined in holy matrimony to the late George Smith on May 30, 1936. From this union, she was blessed with 11 children.
She loved the Lord and was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Marumsco. Her favorite hymn was "How Great Thou Art."
She was a devoted wife, mother, sister and neighborhood mother who mentored and nurtured her family and others in the community.
She leaves fond memories to her 11 children, Virgie Dashiell (Joseph) of Eden, George Smith Jr. of Salisbury, Ardenna Williams (Herman) of Westover, Recie Hope (Vernon) of Pocomoke City, William Smith (Joyce) of Gilbert, Ariz., Mary Hutt (Charles) of Princess Anne, Reba Jones (Armstead) of Baltimore, Minta Johnson-Smith of Philadelphia, Nathaniel Smith (Deborah) of Baltimore, Cecil Smith (Vanessa, a friend) of Crisfield and Lamont Smith (Betty) of Salisbury; 47 grandchildren; 74 great-grandchildren; 26 great-great-grandchildren; one special nephew, Johnny Freeman of Baltimore; a dearly beloved cousin who was like a brother, William Milbourne of Jamaica, N.Y.; and a host of other relatives and devoted friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Marumsco. Friends may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Anthony E. Ward Funeral Home in Princess Anne.
Hope Catherine Dryden
SALISBURY -- Hope Catherine Dryden, infant daughter of William Powell Dryden and Mary White Dryden, died Monday, March 7, 2005, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her paternal grandparents, Beau and Jane Nelson of Salisbury; her maternal grandparents, Ben and Margaret White of Willards; aunts and uncles, Dale and Patience White and Monica White, all of Willards and Jamie and Christina Dryden of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; and two cousins, Dylan and Cameron White of Willards.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, William P. Dryden Sr.
All services will be private.

Mary Emily Dickerson Matthews
SNOW HILL -- Mary Emily Dickerson Matthews, 105, died Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at her home after a brief illness.
Born in Snow Hill on July 21, 1899, she was the daughter of the late Jessie P. and Effie Carmean Dickerson.
Mrs. Matthews was a member of Bates Memorial Methodist Church in Snow Hill, Bates Memorial Methodist Church UMW Circle and the Nassawango Homemakers Club. She worked the family farm beside her husband, Walter, and in addition to raising her family, was the owner and proprietor of The Stork Shop in Snow Hill. Mrs. Matthews was devoted to her family, friends, church and community during her long life.
Mrs. Matthews is survived by her daughter, Barbara Smith; five grandchildren, John W. Smith II and his wife, Gloria, Teresa Smith, Rebecca Smith Shawn, Donna Smith Bounds and her companion, John Ward, and Michael Smith and his wife, Julie; three great-granddaughters, Jennifer Wimbrow-Jenkins, Chandler Webb and Lauren Emily Smith; two great-grandsons, Matthew Shawn and Derrick Smith; one great-great granddaughter, Dariayn Jenkins; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter R. Matthews and three brothers, Newell Dickerson, Victor Dickerson and B. Lee Dickerson.
A funeral service will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Bates Memorial Methodist Church in Snow Hill, where friends and family may call one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Mark J. Avens will officiate. Interment will be in Bates Memorial cemetery in Snow Hill.
