Evelyn Pauline Shockley
SALISBURY -- Evelyn Paul-ine Shockley, 80, died Sunday, March 13, 2005, at Deer's Head Center in Salisbury.
Born in Snow Hill, she was the daughter of the late Preston I. Hudson and Ellen (Hudson) Collins.
She was formerly employed with Perdue Farms Inc. of Salisbury. She was a member of St. James AME Zion Church in Salisbury.
Her survivors include two sons, David Starks of Wilmington and John Shockley of Salisbury; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Thelma Shockley and husband, Elmer, and Aurella Shockley and husband, Robert, all of Salisbury; one brother, Leonard Mason of Wilmington; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Jolley Memorial Chapel in Salisbury, where friends may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and again Saturday one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Springhill Memory Gardens near Hebron.
Services are entrusted to Jolley Memorial Chapel in Salisbury.
Helen Mosely Parsons
SALISBURY -- Helen Mosely Parsons of Salisbury died Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in New Jersey. At the time of her death, she was residing with a daughter, Teresa Parsons-Warner of Newark, N.J.
Born in Millsboro, she was the daughter of the late Rufus and Amanda Mosely. Her late husband, Culver Parsons, died in the early 1970s.
She was formerly employed with the former R.E. Powell Shoes and retired from the former Hess Apparel, both of Salisbury.
She was a member of St. Paul AME Zion Church and a former member of Naomi Chapter No. 16, Order of the Eastern Star.
Her survivors include two daughters, Teresa Parsons-Warner of Newark and H. Marie Skinner and husband, Edwin, of Englewood, Calif.; two grandchildren, Edwina and Edwin R. Skinner of Englewood; an adopted daughter, Peggy Spence; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at St. Paul AME Zion Church, where friends may call two hours prior to the service. Interment will be in Green Acres Memorial Park in Salisbury.
Services are entrusted to Jolley Memorial Chapel in Salisbury.
Alma L. Ayres
PARKSLEY -- Alma L. Ayres, 85, of Parksley died Monday, March 14, 2005, at her residence.
Born in Leemont, Va., she was the daughter of the late William R. Lewis Sr. and Bessie Dukes Lewis. She was the wife of the late J. Fulton Ayres.
She was a homemaker and an organist at Thornton Funeral Home for 33 years. She was a member of Parksley Baptist Church, where she had been the organist for more than 50 years. She was a member of Parksley Chapter 166 Order of the Eastern Star, served as organist for nine years and was a life member and organist for the Onancock Emblem Club.
She is survived by her daughters, Betty Richardson and her husband, Jack, of Parksley and Audrey Furness and her husband, Gene, of Temperanceville; a brother, William R. Lewis Jr. of Parksley; grandchildren, M. Scott Furness and wife, Melissa, of Bethesda, Md., and Stephen Vincent Furness of Temperanceville; and two nephews, William Revell Lewis III of Onancock and Richard Lewis of Parksley.
A funeral service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Parksley Baptist Church. Pastor Bob Boyce will officiate. Interment will be in Liberty cemetery in Parksley. A viewing will be held tonight from 7 to 9 at Thornton Funeral Home in Parksley.

Robert "Bob" White
BERLIN -- Robert F. "Bob" White, 66, of Jensen Beach, Fla., and formerly of Berlin, died Saturday, March 12, 2005, at his home in Florida.
Born in Silver Creek, N.Y., he was the son of the late Herbert White and Mabel Cullen White.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Lois G. White of Jensen Beach; his two sons, Jordan Connors of Stuart, Fla., and Shain Flow of Oak Island, N.C.; three grandchildren, Ashley, Natalie and Gina; and a brother, Richard White of Fullerton, Calif.
Mr. White was the owner of Bob White Tile Co. for more than 15 years in Berlin prior to retiring. He was a Marine Corps veteran and a member of Sinepuxent American Legion Post 166 in Ocean City.
A funeral service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin. Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow in Riverside cemetery in Libertytown.

Maurice J. Taylor
GUMBORO -- Maurice J. Taylor, 76, of Gumboro died Monday, March 14, 2005, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center.
Born in Whaleyville, he was the son of the late Joseph H. and Essie Lewis Taylor.
He was a retired dispensary clerk. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed rabbit hunting, beagles, pony racing, NASCAR and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Agnes B. Taylor of Gumboro; his sons, Wayne J. Taylor of Parsonsburg and M.J. Taylor and his wife, Sharon, of Gumboro; his daughters, Vicki L. Esham and her husband, Jimmy, of Gumboro and Darlene J. Miller of Millsboro; one sister, Evelyn White of Delmar; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Calvin, Walt and Bud; and two sisters, Flora and Edith.
A funeral service will be held today at 1 p.m. at Watson Funeral Home at 211 Washington St. in Millsboro, where a viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Bethel cemetery in Willards.

G. Cook Todd
BALTIMORE -- G. Cook Todd, 80, of Cambridge passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Center in Baltimore.
He was born in Bishops Head on Jan. 7, 1925, a son of the late Purnell and Ophelia Pritchett Todd.
Mr. Todd had attended schools in Cambridge. On Dec. 25, 1947, he married
the former Shirley Elzey. He worked on the water for most of his life, and for a number of years was captain on the dredgeboat J.T. Leonard, which was later donated to the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St. Michaels. He also had operated his own dump truck and logging business. He was a member of Dorchester Post 91 American Legion. Mr. Todd had been in failing health since June and had been a patient at Johns Hopkins Bayview Center since Sept. 21.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Todd of Cambridge; three daughters, Shirley Mayhue and Joann Gilliard, both of Cambridge, and Holly Elzey of Church Creek; six grandchildren, Christine Gilliard, Jason Gilliard, Renee Gilliard, Candice Johnson, Olevia Elzey and Georgia Elzey; two great-grandchildren, Josie Gilliard and Ariel Gilliard; one sister, Margie Jones of Cambridge; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by six sisters, Lizzie Carpenter, Grace McGrath, Lottie Faulkner, Norma Lee Wheatley, Helen Eskridge and Alice Todd; five brothers, William Todd, Emerson Todd, Wilson Todd, Cecil Todd and Edward Todd; and a granddaughter, Kerry Mayhue.
A funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge with the Rev. Mary Ann Farnell officiating. Interment will follow in Dorchester Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Jason Gilliard, Danny Gilliard, Johnnie Newcomb, Warren Newcomb, Eddie Todd and Raymond Faulkner.
Gordon Lee Hoffman
BERLIN -- Gordon Lee Hoffman, 70, died Sunday, March 20, 2005, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury.
Born in Gainesville, Va., he was the son of the late Berkley Burgess Hoffman and Emma Frieda Owens Hoffman Edwards.
He is survived by his wife, Marsha Powell Hoffman; a son, Berkley Gordon Hoffman of Berlin; a daughter, Sue Talas of Okeechobee, Fla.; two grandsons, Ronald and Michael Talas; and one great-grandson, Moutaz Antonio Talas; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Hoffman had been a manager for the state of Virginia Alcohol Beverage Control Board for 30 years. He also was employed with Rommel's Ace Hardware in Ocean City. He attended First Presbyterian Church in Ocean City.
A memorial service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin. The Rev. Alex Ayers will officiate. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be private at a later date.
