Barbara Annette Jones

SNOW HILL -- Barbara Annette Jones, 45, of Snow Hill died Friday, March 18, 2005, at her home.

Born in Baltimore, she was the daughter of Shirley McMillan Pruitt of Hebron and the late Theodore K. Zembower.

She was a humanitarian, always looking to help people. She loved to cook, crouchet, sew and groom her dog. She was an avid fisherman. Mrs. Jones was a member of the Humane Society of Wicomico County.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by two sons, Lorin Lee Wheatley of Hebron and Wayne Allen Jones of Salisbury; one grandson, Brandin Lee Wheatley of Pennsylvania; one brother, Jeffrey Pruitt and his wife, Marilyn Pruitt, of Tangier; nieces, Corine and Jill Pruitt of Tangier; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

A memorial service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Holloway Funeral Home. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.

Contributions may be made in her memory to the Humane Society of Wicomico County, 5130 Citation Drive, Salisbury, Md. 21804.

Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home at 501 Snow Hill Road in Salisbury.

Eloise Landing Massey

PRINCESS ANNE -- Eloise Landing Massey, 87, of Princess Anne died Monday, March 21, 2005, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.

Born in Pocomoke City, she was a daughter of the late Pierce G. Landing and Ella Hancock Landing. Her late husband was Ollie Robert "Buck" Massey.

She was a 1934 graduate of Washington Academy in Princess Anne. She had formerly worked as a nurse's assistant in Baltimore City Hospital and Peninsula Regional Medical Center. She had attended Mount Olive United Methodist Church in Westover.

She is survived by six children, Ollie R. Massey of Bay Point, Calif., Barbara Dorsett of Asheboro, N.C., Jennie Townsend of Crisfield, Kay Dorsey of Asheboro, Patricia Fields of Hampstead, N.C. and Pierce Massey of Princess Anne; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Eleanor Abbott of Berlin.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Elvyn Landing.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Hinman Funeral Home in Princess Anne, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Janet Rounsley will officiate. Interment will be held in St. Pauls cemetery in Marion Station.

Herman Monroe Brown

QUANTICO -- Herman Monroe Brown, 86, died Saturday, March 19, 2005, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.

Born in Wetipquin, he was the son of the late George and Lavenia Seldon Brown. His late wife, Arletta Ellen Conway, died 1992.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, receiving an honorable discharge. Upon his discharge, he attended the Army academy for leather and shoe repair in Baltimore. He was employed for 26 years at Deer's Head Center in the dietary department.

He was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church in Wetipquin. His civic affiliations included charter and life member of VFW Post 10159, where he served as post commander; member of American Legion Post 145, life member of the Disabled American Veterans No. 19, and life member of Military Order Purple Heart USA No. 172.

His survivors include two children, Allen C. Brown Sr. of Salisbury and Bessie Mae Brown of Quantico; four grandchildren, Edson, George, James and Allen (J.R.) Brown Jr.; one sister-in-law, Marie Jones; three great-grandchildren, Breshawnna, Sierra and Zachary; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at St. James Free Methodist Church on Head-of-Creek Road in Quantico, where friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Interment will be Friday 11 a.m. in Maryland Veterans cemetery near Hurlock.

Services are entrusted to Jolley Memorial Chapel in Salisbury.

Guy Edward Murray

SALISBURY -- Guy Edward Murray, 92, of Salisbury passed away Sunday, March 20, 2005, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.

Born in Washington, he was the son of the late Guy Naylor Murray and Cora Ellen Shelton Murray.

Mr. Murray was a 1936 graduate of the University of Maryland College Park. He was a chemical engineer for Western Electric for 37 years, retiring in 1973.

He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Virginia H. Murray of Salisbury.

Following cremation, no formal services are planned.

Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home at 501 Snow Hill Road in Salisbury.

Mary H. Cooper

GUMBORO -- Mary H. Cooper, 92, of Gumboro died Saturday, March 19, 2005, at Salisbury Center: Genesis ElderCare.

Born in Gumboro, she was the daughter of the late Larry T. and Lillie Smith Donaway. Her husband, Harry T. Cooper, died April 30, 1998.

She was a member of Gumboro United Methodist Church and a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Gumboro Volunteer Fire Company.

She is survived by two sons, H. Wayne Cooper and Gary T. Cooper, and one daughter, Donna Faye Milligan, all of Gumboro; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Millsboro cemetery on State Street in Millsboro, with the Rev. Rhoda Harris officiating.

The family suggests donations to Gumboro United Methodist Church, c/o Mrs. Eleanor Lee West, 36618 Main St., Millsboro, Del. 19966.

Arrangements are by Watson Funeral Home in Millsboro.

Genevieve L. Marsh

CRISFIELD -- Genevieve L. Marsh, 73, of Crisfield died Saturday, March 19, 2005, at her home.

Born in Ewell, Smith Island, on Dec. 7, 1931, she was the daughter of Clara L. Shehee Tyler of Crisfield and the late Clyde A. Evans. Her husband, Wynant L. Marsh, died Feb. 12, 2002.

She was a graduate of the Maryland School for the Deaf in Frederick, Md., and was a retired seafood worker for the former Omar Evans Seafood Co. in Ewell. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church on Smith Island and for the past 17 years and had been attending Immanuel United Methodist Church in Crisfield.

She is survived by her mother, Clara L. Tyler of Crisfield; four daughters and their husbands, Gwen and Jack Dezern of Hillsborough, N.C., Winnie and Mike Bloxom of Crisfield, Pat and Howard Pouncey of Solomons Island and Carol and Raymond Pruitt of Kingston; one brother, C. Roger Evans and his wife, Dot, of Tangier Island; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her father and husband, She was preceded in death by a brother, Mickey Evans, in 1998.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield. The Rev. Henry Zollinhoffer will officiate. Friends may call tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Sunnyridge Memorial Park near Crisfield.

Helen Veronica Doody Peacock

SALISBURY -- Helen Veronica Doody Peacock, 89, of Salisbury, and formerly of Princess Anne, died Saturday, March 19, 2005, at Salisbury Center: Genesis ElderCare.

Born in Princess Anne on Nov. 26, 1915, she was a daughter of the late Richard Doody and Annie Hayman Doody. Her first husband, Raymond E. Powell, died in 1945 and her second husband, Harry R. Peacock, died in 1978.

Ms. Peacock had worked in the family restaurant business "Peaky's" for 25 years. She was a member of the Princess Anne B.P.W., the Friendship Class of Antioch United Methodist Church and the O.T. Beauchamp Post 94 American Legion Auxiliary. She was also a 1987 recipient of the Woman of the Year Award from the B.P.W.

She is survived by her daughter, Joan Manzini of Salisbury; a son, Greg Peacock and his wife, Anne, of Salisbury; grandchildren, Kevin Witte, Larry Witte, Darryl Witte, Ray Guy Powell, Jennifer McMahon and Nicole Shockley; 15 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Lucille Doody of Salisbury and Ann West of Fruitland.

A son, Richard E. Powell, died Dec. 6, 2002. Two sisters, Dorothy Horner and Ruth Doody, also preceded her in death.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Hinman Funeral Home in Princess Anne, where a visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Tom Blakelock will officiate. Interment will be held in St. Andrew's Episcopal cemetery located behind Manokin Presbyterian Church in Princess Anne.
