Joshua Randall Pruitt Sr.
WILLARDS -- Joshua Randall Pruitt Sr., 29, of Willards died Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center.
Born in Salisbury, he was a son of Clonie Clevland Pruitt and the late Annie Lee Hash Pruitt.
He was employed as a plumber for Heritage Services of Baltimore. He loved auto mechanics, writing poetry and art.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Betty Ann Pruitt of Willards; three children, Joshua R. Pruitt Jr., Amber N. Pruitt and Jacob C. Pruitt, all of Willards; seven brothers, Thomas, William, Clonie, Virgil, Carl and Charles Pruitt and Walter Gross; and four sisters, Brenda Pruitt, Sandra Vickers, Julie Wagner and Mertle Costa. He is also survived by his grandfather, James Hash of New Jersey and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Pittsville Cemetery, with the Rev. John Moore officiating.

David K. Winslow Sr.
SALISBURY -- David K. Winslow Sr., 82, of Salisbury died Friday, April 1, 2005, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center.
Born in Baltimore, he was a son of the late Sidney Harvey Winslow and Helen Hearn Winslow. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Joyce F. Winslow, in 2004.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he retired from Delmarva Power after 33 years of service. He was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Hurlock.
He is survived by a son, David K. Winslow Jr. of Salisbury; two daughters, Daphine Winslow Johnstone of Hurlock and Elizabeth Clair Winslow of Denver; five grandchildren, Charles L. Brohawn, Jennifer K. Brohawn, Stephen D. Winslow, Kara E. Winslow and Olivia Winslow Edwards; four great-grandchildren, Alexandra Trego, Caroline Schuler, Charlie Brohawn and Emma Brohawn; a brother, George H. Winslow of Ellicott City; a sister, Helen E. Mawhinney of Portsmouth, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Monday at noon at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Hurlock. The Rev. Bryan Glancey will officiate. Interment will follow in Maryland Veterans cemetery Eastern Shore near Hurlock.

Kathryn "Kate" M. Anderson Gordon
LAUREL -- Kathryn "Kate" M. Anderson Gordon, 65, of Laurel died Sunday, April 3, 2005, at her home.
Born on Deal Island, she was a daughter of the late George D. Sr. and Eva Belle Anderson.
Kate worked as a clerk in the garden center at Tull's in Seaford for more than 15 years. Her work reflected her passion for flowers and gardening. What she loved the most was spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Edward W. Gordon Sr., whom she married
Aug. 19, 1964; a son and his wife, Edward W. Gordon Jr. and Jill of Laurel; a daughter, Karen E. Gordon of Baltimore; two grandchildren, Isabella Maria Gordon and Nicholas Anderson Gordon; and three sisters, Nancy Jean Anderson of Deal Island, Eva G. "Trudy" Bronson and her husband, Dennis, of Charlottesville, Va., and Suzanne Polanzo and her husband, Joe, of Sudbrook Park, Md. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Jane Cannon, Peggy Cannon and Betty Cannon, and a brother, George D. Anderson Jr.
A funeral service will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at Short Funeral Home, 700 West St. in Laurel, where family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. An additional service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at St. John's United Methodist Church in Deal Island, where family and friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m.

Cornelia Gladding Gillette
SALISBURY -- Cornelia Gladding Gillette died Sunday, April 3, 2005, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake.
She was the daughter of the late Paul J. and Ethel Shockley Gladding of Snow Hill. Educated in the public schools of Worcester County, she graduated from Goucher College in Towson, Md. Prior to moving to Salisbury in 1992, she lived in Fayetteville, N.Y.
Her professional life was devoted to advertising and marketing. In New York state, she was the owner of Gladding Associates, an advertising agency. On moving to Salisbury, she became the marketing director for Accurate Optical. Since her retirement in 2003, she did freelance writing for area publications and marketing for various businesses and organizations. One of her most recent accomplishments was initiating a collaborative marketing campaign for the town of Snow Hill.
She is survived by her daughter, Raye Valion Gillette and her fiancé, Roland Whaley, of Snow Hill. She is also survived by several cousins and devoted friends.
A graveside service will be held Friday at 3 p.m. at Bates cemetery in Snow Hill. A reception will follow at Bishop's Stock Fine Art & Fine Crafts, 202 W. Green St. in Snow Hill.

Richard Alcaraz Carrillo
SALISBURY -- Richard Alcaraz Carrillo, 75, passed away from complications of a stroke on Monday, April 4, 2005, at Deers Head Center in Salisbury, where he resided.
Born in Pittsburgh, Calif., he was a son of the late Alfonzo Carrillo and San Juana "Jennie" Carrillo.
He was a U.S. Army parachutist, 82nd Airborne, from 1952 to 1954. He was a welterweight professional boxer as a youth in California and also while being enlisted in the Army. He was a professional long-distance truck driver of 35 years with Preston Trucking, retiring in 1990. He was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church in Salisbury, where he was a past president of the UMC Men and also attended Cross Pointe Church of the Nazarene. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 91, Master Mason, American Legion Post 64 and the Delmarva Boxing Association. He was a past coach of the Salvation Army Boys Club boxing team and a volunteer at Peninsula Regional Medical Center and the Holly Center.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Caroline Culp Carrillo of Salisbury; five children, Cynthia Carrillo, Pamela Carrillo, Toni Covert and her husband, Thane, of Largo, Fla., Marcia C. Trout and Richard L. Carrillo and his wife, Tara, of Salisbury; a stepson, Joe Lee White of Charlotte, N.C.; three grandchildren, Thane and Dana Covert of Largo and Samantha Grace Trout of Salisbury; and a sister, Eleanor Aquilar of Selma, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel Cardenez, and a sister, Vera Lopez.
A funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Holloway Funeral Home, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. W. Daniel Rich. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Maryland Veterans cemetery Eastern Shore near Hurlock.
Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home, 501 Snow Hill Road in Salisbury.
Charles C. Simpson
SALISBURY -- Charles C. Simpson, 88, of Salisbury died Monday, April 11, 2005, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.
Born in Washington, he was the son of the late Arthur C. and Gertrude Constance Simpson.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Manie Krause Simpson, and his second wife, Jeanne Holloway Day Simpson.
Mr. Simpson was an active member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church. He participated in several community services such as the Joseph House and the Christian Kitchen. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served during World War II in the European Theater. He was an avid fisherman, gardener and was an accomplished cabinet maker.
He is survived by a daughter, Mary S. Barnes of Alexandria, Va.; a son, Charles C. Simpson Jr. and his wife, Amy, of Bellevue, Wash.; stepsons, William G. Day Jr. and his wife, Trudy, of Salisbury and Michael H. Day of Earleville, Md.; and several grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's Episcopal Church. The Rev. Michael D. Reddig will officiate. A reception will follow the service at the church. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 115 St. Peters St., Salisbury, Md. 21801.

Natalie Mary DeSantis Maloney
CAMBRIDGE -- Natalie Mary DeSantis Maloney, 86, of Cambridge passed away at her home on Sunday, April 10, 2005.
She was born in Bristol, Pa., on May 4, 1918, and was a daughter of the late Camillo and Julie Mari DeSantis Sr.
Although born in Pennsylvania, Mrs. Maloney was raised and attended schools in Baltimore. In May 1939 she was married
to Edward B. Maloney Sr. They had made their home in Cambridge for the past 25 years. Mrs. Maloney was a member of the Cambridge Women's Club and Bridge Club. She had been in failing health for two years when she passed away on Sunday morning.
Survivors include her husband, Edward B. Maloney Sr. of Cambridge; five children, Michael C. Maloney and his wife, Jane Maloney, of East New Market, June L. Maloney of Cambridge, Gina M. Maloney of Cambridge, Michelle J. English of Templeton, Calif., and Edward B. Maloney Jr. and his wife, Kay Maloney, of Chester, Md.; and eight grandchildren, Michelle Braca, Mona Dugan, Edward B. Maloney III, Jacob Osterhaus, Camella Maloney, Johnathan Osterhaus, Christopher English and Patrick English. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Michael Randazzo, Jon Szeliga, Kayla Szeliga, Whitney Sussex and Joshua Sussex; one sister, Rosemary Morris of Baltimore; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Chailou, Angelina "Angel" Walhauser and Beatrice "Honey" Stroebel, and one brother, Camillo DeSantis Jr.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at St. Mary Refuge of Sinners Catholic Church in Cambridge. Interment will follow in Oxford Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge.
