Samuel Lee Foreman
NEWARK -- Samuel Lee Foreman (Ham), 55, of Bowden Road in Newark died Tuesday, April 12, 2005, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.
Born in Newark, he was the son of the late John Purnell and Helen Foreman.
He was a 1968 graduate of the former Worcester High School.
He was formerly employed with the state of Maryland and at the time of his death was employed as foreman/supervisor of operations for the Ocean City Convention Center in Ocean City for 35 years. He was also self-employed as a farmer and landscaper.
He was a member of Williams AME Church in Newark where he served as a member of the Methodist Men's Choir and Trustee Board.
His survivors include three sons, Samuel T., a student at Salisbury University, Sean John Patrick and Shandon Lee Foreman, all of Berlin; his companion of 21 years, Jeanette Simmons of Berlin; one brother, Wardell Foreman and his wife, Teresa, of Laurel; one sister, Lillian Foreman of Newark; one niece and nephew; six aunts, Gladys Hargis of Salisbury, Naomi Ellison of Willards, Virginia and Iona Foreman, both of Berlin and Irma Wessells and Mildred Foreman, both of Newark; one great-uncle, John Foreman and his wife, Virginia, of Berlin; and two great-aunts, Martha Collins of Wilmington and Ruth Tindley of Newark.
A funeral service will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Williams AME Church, where friends may call Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Monday one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Services are entrusted to Jolley Memorial Chapel in Salisbury.
Horace George Shahan
ROCK HALL, Md. -- Horace George Shahan, 79, of Rock Hall died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2004.
He was born July 1, 1925, in Millington, Md., to Horace and Lulu Dixon Shahan.
He lived in Kent County, working on farms as a young boy. He stepped in to help his mother raise his three younger brothers.
A self-schooled man, he always worked hard in his different jobs, including General Motors, Vita Foods, driving trucks, construction and erection of grain dryers. He had developed a special bond with many farmers in the Kent and Queen Anne's areas. He was a lifetime member of the Rock Hall Fire Department and the Rock Hall Seventh-day Adventist Church. He enjoyed horse raising, shuffleboard and playing cards with family and friends.
Mr. Shahan is survived by three brothers, William Shahan of Delaware, Dixon Shahan of Montana and Foster Shahan of Millington; two daughters, Dorothy Shahan Yeager of Millington and Sharon Shahan Kelley of Salisbury; two sons, Charles Stevens Shahan of Windsor, Md., and Jeffery Lynn Shahan of Centreville, Md.; 10 grandchildren, Vicky, Sharon, Bobby Jr., Jimmy, Justin, Crystal, Joshua, Laura Lynn, Ciara and Thaddeus; and 10 great-grandchildren, Allen, Maryia, Michael, Eric, Danilla, Erica, Jimmy Jr., Drew, Joshua and Bobby III. He is also survived by a dear friend and companion, Dareen Ottinger.
Funeral services were held Saturday at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home in Chestertown. Interment was in Wesley Chapel cemetery in Rock Hall.

Dean A. Curtis
CRISFIELD -- Dean A. Curtis, 57, of Crisfield died Wednesday, April 20, 2005, at the Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home.
Born in Solomons, Md., he was the son of the late Maxwell Eugene Curtis, who died Oct. 7, 1983, and Marion Lorraine Abbott Curtis, who died Jan. 3, 2005. He formerly worked with his father as a painter (Curtis & Sons) at Patuxent Naval Base.
He attended Somerset Free Methodist Church in Crisfield.
Surviving is a brother, Douglas M. Curtis and wife, Patti; an aunt, Sarah Janet Todd; cousins, Janice Caldwell and husband, Don, and George Todd III and wife, Ruthie; and a nephew, Doug M. Curtis Jr., all of Crisfield. There are also several other cousins.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 7 p.m. at Somerset Free Methodist Church, where friends may call from 6 to 7 p.m. The Rev. Sam Horner will officiate. A graveside service and interment will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Solomons United Methodist Church cemetery in Solomons with the Rev. John Williams officiating.

James Thomas Daley
OCEAN CITY -- James Thomas Daley, 66, died at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury on Thursday, April 14, 2005.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Thomas Daley and Margaret Hughes Daley. Mr. Daley served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Mary's Star-of-the-Sea Catholic Church and Holy Savior in Ocean City.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Ann Harkins Daley; two sons, David Hadley and his wife, Natalie, of Alabaster, Ala., and Dennis Hadley of Chicago; three daughters, Donna Parasky and her husband, Russell, of Indianapolis, Debbie Taylor of Ocean City and Denise Foster and her husband, David, of York, Pa.; and 10 grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at Holy Savior Catholic Church on 17th Street and Philadelphia Avenue in Ocean City on Friday, April 29 at 11 a.m. The Rev. John P. Klevence will be the celebrant.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Star-of-the-Sea Catholic Church, "God's Helping Hand, " 212 Kingfish St., Ocean City, Md. 21842.

Joe Louis Polk
JERSEY CITY, N.J. -- Joe Louis Polk, (Bill), 69, formerly of Laurel died Wednesday, April 13, 2005, at Greenville Hospital in Jersey City.
Born in Seaford, he was the son of the late James Polk and Frances Broadway Polk. His late wife, Rixie Harmon Polk, died in the early '60s.
He was a graduate of the former Paul Lawrence Dunbar and continued his studies at a New Jersey art school. He was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War, receiving an honorable discharge.
He was a self-employed truck driver for several years until his retirement. He attended a local Baptist church.
His survivors include two children, one brother, Arnold Polk and wife, Jeri, of Ghana, West Africa; six sisters, Francine Polk, Velverline Church and husband, Edward, all of Delmar, Alice Stewart and husband, Matthew, Arleaver Moore and husband, Edward, and Mae Cheeks, all of Philadelphia and Darlene Moore and husband, Leonard, of Glen Mill, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at noon Friday at Jolley Memorial Chapel in Salisbury, where friends may call two hours prior to the service. Interment will be in Delaware Veteran's cemetery in Millsboro.

Richard Darwin Richards
PRINCESS ANNE -- Richard Darwin Richards, 69, of Princess Anne received all the hopes and anticipations of his dreams as he went to dwell with his Lord on Monday, April 18, 2005.
Born in Pittston, Pa., on June 22, 1935, he was a son of the late Edward Richards and Henrietta Augusta Stockton Richards.
Mr. Richards was a very loving husband who adored his wife in every way. He would always say, "Oh, what a beautiful morning, " no matter what the weather was or how he felt. He loved his gardens and would try to grow the biggest tomatoes and longest string beans. Mr. Richards enjoyed barbering, meeting new people who would become old friends and was passionate about God's word and what America was founded on.
He is survived by his wife, Joanne Nothey Richards of Princess Anne; his children, Richard Richards Jr. of Ephrata, Pa., Daniel Richards of York, Pa., Gregory Richards of Seneca, S.C., Debra Brown of Holtwood, Pa., and Joyce Moffitt of Spring Grove, Pa.; a stepson, Adam Filbert of Princess Anne; a stepdaughter, Eve Mosca of Pasadena, Md.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Arlington Richards of Michigan.
Two sisters, Edna Brown and Katherine Peters preceded him in death.
A funeral service will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. at Walker Memorial Church of God in Princess Anne. Friends may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hinman Funeral Home in Princess Anne. The Rev. Tim Shawyer will be officiating. Interment will be in Beechwood cemetery in Princess Anne.

James. O. Morris
LAUREL -- James O. Morris, 75, died Sunday, April 17, 2005, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.
Born in Laurel, he was a son of the late Otha and Olivia Oney Morris. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Morris, in 1997.
He was a Korean War Army veteran.
He is survived by two sons, Michael J. Morris and wife, Olivia, of Salisbury and David A. Morris and wife, Terry, of Bowie, Md.; one daughter, Tina M. Cottman of Princess Anne; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; three sisters, Marie Perkins and husband, James, of Ridgely, Md., Eleanor Fooks and husband, Roland, of Greenwood and Marlene Morris and husband, Glen, of Seaford; one brother, Emory Morris and wife, Annabelle, of Salisbury; two stepsisters, Gertrude Winder of Seaford and Jeanette Winder-Strand of Boston; one stepbrother, Russell Winder of Delaware; one sister-in-law, Norma Corbin of Chester, Pa.; one brother-in-law, Charles Carroll of Salisbury; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Carroll and Rosalee Morris, and two brothers, Frank Winder and Russell Lee Morris.
A funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Wesley Temple United Methodist Church on West Road in Salisbury, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. The Rev. William A. Ross, pastor, will officiate. Interment will be in Springhill Memory Garden near Hebron.
