Almon Dixon Watkins
FEDERALSBURG -- Almon Dixon "Dick" Watkins of Federalsburg passed away Monday, May 2, 2005, at his home. He was 71.
Born Jan. 19, 1934, in Preston, he was the son of the late Harley Guy and Susie Townsend Watkins.
Mr. Watkins attended and graduated from Hurlock High School in 1952.
Mr. Watkins served in the Army from 1954 to 1956 as a private first class in the Korean Conflict era and peacetime. He was a state trooper with the Maryland State Police for eight years. His hobbies included darts and billiards. For many years he owned and operated a billiard hall in Sharptown and a country music club in Waldorf, Md. His love for country music inspired him to form his own band, and he entertained for many years.
He was a life member of VFW Post 5246 in Federalsburg.
Mr. Watkins is survived by three children, Robert D. Watkins and his wife, Shannon, of Texas, Cindilu Williamson and her husband, Ed, of Georgetown and Wendilyn Watkins of Federalsburg; five grandchildren, Christopher Watkins, Presley Watkins, Cassie Watkins, Jeremy Watkins and Curtis Vickers; two great-grandchildren, Beth and Angela Watkins; three sisters, Arintha "Rinkie" Kinnamon, Betsy Ann Sterling and Nora Lee Evans; three brothers, Harley Watkins, Stengle Watkins and Wayne Watkins; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son; one daughter; six sisters; and nine brothers.
Memorial services will be held today at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Maryland Veterans cemetery Eastern Shore in Beulah, with the Rev. Howard "Buddy" Dunn officiating. Mr. Watkins is to be cremated.
In lieu of flowers, his family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, Grand Central Station, PO Box 4777, New York, N.Y. 10163.
Jeffrey Duane Hearn
LAUREL -- Jeffrey Duane Hearn, 30 years of age, of Laurel died Wednesday, May 4, 2005, as the result of injuries suffered from an automobile accident.
Born in Salisbury, he was a son of Jacqueline Naomi Colbert Hearn of Laurel and the late William Kenneth Hearn Sr.
For the last five years, Jeff worked as a technician for Alarm Engineering in Salisbury. He enjoyed motorcycling and was a Philadelphia Eagles fan.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sons, Kenneth Wayne Hearn and Andrew Ryan Hearn; a brother, Billy Hearn of Laurel; his paternal grandmother, Norma Jane Hearn of Delmar; two nieces, Jamie Lynne Hearn and Sara Elizabeth Hearn; and a great-nephew, Kymani Isaiah "Kibbles" Baine-Hearn.
A funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Short Funeral Home, 13 E. Grove St. in Delmar, where family and friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Phillip Alan Lee, evangelist, will officiate the services.
Justin Lee Donaway
OCEAN PINES -- Justin Lee Donaway, 17, died Tuesday, May 3, 2005.
Born in Salisbury, he was a son of Laura Donaway and the late Donald Donaway Jr.
Also surviving is his maternal grandmother, Lynda Glacken; his paternal grandparents, Carol and Donald L. Donaway Sr.; two brothers, Michael and Connor Quillen; a sister, Megan Quillen; two aunts, Lisa Glacken and Holly Glacken; and numerous relatives.
He was the grandson of the late Robert Glacken.
Justin was a senior at Stephen Decatur High School and was a talented guitar player.
Family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Ullrich Funeral Home on Route 50 in Berlin. A graveside service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Park.

Joyce Ann Ayres
SALISBURY -- Joyce Ann Ayres, 56, of Salisbury died Tuesday, May 3, 2005, at her residence.
Born in Salisbury, she was a daughter of the late Riley Shockley and Gertrude Dale.
She was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church in Snow Hill and attended New Beginnings Covenant Ministries.
Memories will be cherished by one son, Arthur Ayres Jr. of Ocean City; three daughters, Marchelle Ayres-Smith of Berlin, Charlotte Ayres-Haley of Sterling, Va., and Teresa Ayres of Snow Hill; five brothers, Riley Dale and Issac Dale, both of Snow Hill, Richard Dale of New Brunswick, N.J., Melvin Foreman of Salisbury and Curtis Foreman of Berlin; three sisters, Patsy Dale of Salisbury and Christine Dale and Dorothy Dale, both of Snow Hill; a devoted friend, Ronald Christopher of Salisbury; an uncle, George Dale of Snow Hill; six grandchildren; and several nephews, nieces, cousins, in-laws and friends.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday at noon at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 107 S. Collins St. in Snow Hill. The Rev. Pearl Johnson is the officiating pastor, and Pastor Darryl Butts will assist. Family and friends may call one hour prior to the service and Monday at the church from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will follow in the Friendship United Methodist Church cemetery in Snow Hill.
A ministry of comfort and dignity is being provided by Lewis N. Watson Funeral Home in Salisbury.
Francis Parks
TANGIER ISLAND -- Francis Parks, 71, originally of Tangier Island, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2005.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Carolyn Parks; four sisters; and one brother.
Mr. Parks served his country in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Glen Allen Masonic Lodge 131 A.F.&A.M.;
Services were held Friday at Nelsen Funeral Home in Richmond. Interment was private.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association.
Pauline Darcangelo deHuarte
BERLIN -- Pauline Darcangelo deHuarte, 74, of Berlin, and formerly of Beltsville, Md., died Thursday, May 5, 2005, at Atlantic General Hospital.
Born in Washington, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Darcangelo and Florence Marino Darcangelo.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker, and later in life was an employee of Arbitron Ratings in Beltsville and the Francis Scott Key Motel in Ocean City.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, John F. deHuarte; her sons, Michael deHuarte and his wife, Sandy, of Brave, Pa., Joseph deHuarte and his wife, Nancy, of Bowie, Md., David deHuarte and his wife, Sharon, of Blacksville, W.Va., and Paul deHuarte and his wife, Janet, of Berlin; her daughters, Helen Martin and her husband, Bob, of Cascade, Md., Carmen Pirrone of Berlin, Christina deHuarte of Berlin and Teresa Fields and her husband, Fred, of Ocean City; her brother, Angelo Darcangelo of Arkansas; her sisters, Minnie Spigone of Washington, Dora McGuigan and her husband, Charles, of Seabrook, Md., Lucy Pullins of Edgewater, Md., and Mary Dove of Palmer Park, Md.; 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was a second mom to countless people during her lifetime.
A Mass of Christian burial will be offered Monday at 11 a.m. at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Ocean Pines, where friends may call one hour prior to Mass. The Rev. Father Ray Weisman will be the celebrant. A second service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home in Silver Spring, Md., with calling one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven cemetery in Silver Spring.

William Robinson
OCEAN PINES -- William "Bill" "BR" Robinson, 62, died Thursday, May 5, 2005, at his home in Ocean Pines.
Born in Baltimore, he was a son of the late Calvin and Ida Talbott Robinson. He is survived by his wife, Frieda Goldfein Robinson; a son, Michael Andrew Robinson and his wife, Alicia, and two grandchildren, Joshua Thomas Robinson and Jennifer Elizabeth Robinson, all of Richmond; a special son, Jonathan Ryan of Baltimore; a brother, Calvin Edward Robinson of Charlotte, N.C.; a sister, Patricia Montanari of Naperville, Ill.; several nieces and nephews; and a multitude of friends.
Mr. Robinson had been a health care financing cost analyst with the U.S. government for 38 years. He retired to Ocean Pines in 1998. He was a Green Turtle West and Captain's Galley II regular.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Dr. Harry Wolpert will officiate. Interment will be private.

Elizabeth Lowe Thawley
LAUREL -- Elizabeth "Lib" Lowe Thawley, 92, of Laurel died Thursday, May 5, 2005, at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford.
Born in Laurel, she was a daughter of the late S. Lloyd and Nellie Johnson Lowe.
Lib graduated with the Laurel High School, Class of 1930, and was an active member of the Laurel Alumni Association. After high school, she graduated from Goldey-Beacom Business School. She worked for many years as a teller for Farmer's Bank in Laurel and also worked at the Laurel Public Library and the Wee Gift Shop in Laurel. She was a lifetime member of Christ United Methodist Church, where she attended since her birth. She was active in the United Methodist Women's Group and the Priscilla Circle. She loved canning for the annual church bazaar. A passion of hers was growing and taking care of her African violets, some that she still had that had belonged to her late mother. She also loved to play bridge and enjoyed reading and knitting.
She is survived by a daughter, Julia "Judy" Thawley Vickers and her husband, Steven H., of Laurel; two grandsons, Steven L. Vickers of Newark, Del., and Brian R. Vickers of Laurel; and several nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Richard D. Thawley; a brother, Raymond Lowe; and an older sister, who died at a very young age.
A funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Short Funeral Home, 700 West St. in Laurel, where family and friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. The Rev. Fred Duncan will officiate. Interment will follow the services in Odd Fellows cemetery in Laurel.
