Charles "Richard" Ziegler
OCEAN PINES -- Charles "Richard" Ziegler, 65, of Ocean Pines died Thursday, May 5, 2005, at University of Maryland Hospital Center in Baltimore.
Born March 17, 1940, in Maryland, he was a son of Betty Payne Ziegler of Broward County, Fla., and the late Charles Vincent Ziegler.
He was the husband of Sharon (nee Bernadyn) Ziegler of Ocean Pines.
He had been an engineering manager at Westinghouse for more than 30 years.
Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are sons and a daughter-in-law, Donald and Kristie Ziegler of Charleston, S.C., and Rick Ziegler of Washington; daughters and sons-in-law, Stephanie and Mark Rossi of Leesburg, Va., Lisa and Bob Miner of Lake Villa, Ill., and Renee and David Kirby of Westminster, Md.; a brother and sister-in-law, Craig and Dot Ziegler of Ocean Pines; and 11 grandchildren.
A funeral liturgy will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Church of the Resurrection, Paulskirk Drive and Chatham Road in Elliott City, Md., with the Rev. Ty Hullinger as celebrant. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park in Sykesville, Md.
Friends may call tonight from 7 to 9 at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road (Route 32) in Sykesville and Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

William R. Adkins
DELMAR -- William R. Adkins, 81, of Delmar died Sunday, May 8, 2005, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.
Born in Delmar, he was the son of the late Riley and Lena Adkins.
Mr. Adkins was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Delmar VFW Post 8276. He was a retired bookkeeper.
He was a lifetime member of St. Stephens United Methodist Church in Delmar, where he was in the choir and the Methodist Men's Club. He was a lifetime member of the Delmar Lions Club, where he was serving as secretary at the time of his death and was also past president.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth L. Adkins of Delmar; two stepdaughters, Ellie Rebert and her husband, Jack, of Salisbury and Earlene Coulbourne and her husband, Bobby, of Marion Station; stepgrandchildren, Kimberly Oates and her husband, Larry, of Quakertown, Pa., and Shawn Coirin of Delmar; stepgreat-grandchildren, Allison, Tyler and Christian Oates; a brother, Robert L. Adkins and his wife, Ann, of Delmar; and a nephew, Robert Lee Adkins Jr. and his wife, Sandy, of Delmar.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Short Funeral Home, 13 E. Grove St. in Delmar, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Marsha Carpenter will officiate. Interment will be in St. Stephens cemetery in Delmar.

Dorothy Virginia Meek
OCEAN CITY -- Dorothy Virginia Meek, 75, of Ocean City died Friday, May 6, 2005.
Born in Baltimore County, she was the daughter of the late Clinton Tracey and Nellie Mays Tracey.
She is survived by five sons, Dale and Lenny Burrs, Joseph and Ronnie Mackert and Steve Meek; two daughters, Melody Burrs and Connie Mackert; two brothers, Richard and Paul Tracey; one sister, Marion Seips; 14 grandchildren, Brandi Ann, Chastity, Joey, Billy, Gary Jr., Bill-Bill, Jennifer, Gregory, Lisa, Kandi, Courtney, Tyler, Tammi and Tommy; five great-grandchildren, Antonio, Cassidy, Heaven, Alexander and Devonte; and special friends, including Bonnie, Eddie, Angie, Vicki, Dana, Eric and Dot.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Meek; a son, Gary Mackert; and a brother, Clarence Tracey.
A visitation will be held tonight from 6 to 8 and Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Ullrich Funeral Home on Route 50 in Berlin. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home Wednesday at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Maryland Veterans cemetery Eastern Shore near Hurlock at 2 p.m. on Wednesday. Chaplain Gail Mansell and the Rev. Denzil Cheek will officiate.
Hazel Dempsey Bavota
GLEN BURNIE, Md. -- Hazel Bavota (nee Dempsey) died Saturday, May 7, 2005.
She was the beloved mother of Joan Paul; devoted sister of Armalene Onorato and Margaret Wade; and dear grandmother of Dawn Loughlin, Pat Gordon and Michael Blume. She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends at Fink Funeral Home, P.A., 426 Crain Highway, SW, at 5th Avenue in Glen Burnie on Wednesday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., where services will be held Thursday at 9 a.m. Interment will be in Crestlawn Cemetery.
Florence Littleton
FRANKFORD -- Florence "Mickey" Littleton, age 85, of Frankford died at her home on Saturday, May 7, 2005.
She was born in Frankford and was a housewife and also a wallpaper hanger for many years. Mickey enjoyed many years of travel.
She was a member of the Frankford Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and Frankford United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Russell Ray Hooper, and second husband, Oscar Tipton.
She is survived by her husband, Hurley Littleton; children, Carolyn Robinson of Dagsboro and Leroy Hooper of Frankford; stepson, Victor Lewis of Frankford; sister, Edith Hudson of Seaford; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and nine stepgreat-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Melson Funeral Services on Thatcher Street in Frankford, where friends may call after 1 p.m. Interment will be in Carey's cemetery in Frankford.

Todd Bryan Jameson
EDEN -- Todd Bryan Jameson, 39, of Eden, and formerly of Pocomoke City and Jacksonville, Fla., died Sunday, May 8, 2005, at Georgetown University Hospital.
Born in Prince George's County, Md., he was the son of Margaret "Peg" Mitchell Russ of Eden and Paul F. Jameson and his wife, Rickki, of Jacksonville.
Mr. Jameson was a graduate of Pocomoke High School in the Class of 1983 and attended Salisbury University. He worked with his mother for 10 years at Larry's Market in Pocomoke City before moving to Jacksonville, where he worked for UPS. He returned to the Eastern Shore in 2004 and started working for Boaters World in Salisbury. He was an avid fisherman and Redskins Fan.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Jameson is survived by a sister, Mitzi Scott and her husband, Jay, of Fruitland; uncle and aunt, Freddie and Shelly Mitchell of Pocomoke City; Aunt Iris Ann Stern of Cleveland; two stepsisters, Kimberly and Jessica Lackner of Jacksonville; two nephews, Julien and Joseph Scott; and several cousins and numerous friends.
A graveside funeral service will be held Wednesday at noon at Remson United Methodist Church cemetery in Pocomoke City. Pastor Rick Edmunds will officiate.

Edna Mae Scheifer Jahnke
SALISBURY -- Edna Mae Scheifer Jahnke, 82, a resident of Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 7, 2005, after a brief illness.
Born on Oct. 4, 1922, in Edwardsville, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Jacob Scheifer and Adella Gruenig Scheifer Short.
She was the wife of Norman Emil Jahnke, who passed away in February 1978.
Mrs. Jahnke was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a homemaker most of her life. She was also an avid sports lover. Later in life she worked for MAC Inc. in Salisbury. She attended First Church of the Nazarene in Long Beach, Calif., for more than 30 years.
She is survived by her sons, Harold Jahnke of Long Beach and Stephen C. Bentley and his wife, Lydia A., of Port O'Connor, Texas; her daughters, Jeri Ruark and her husband, John, of Salisbury, Judy Stinson of Laughlin, Nev., Joyce Hardiman and her husband, Jimmie, of Auburn, Wash., Janet Oldenburgh and her husband, Roger, of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Nora Mae McBroom of Bull Head City, Ariz.; her brother, Floyd Scheifer of Witt, Ill.; her sister, Betty Hall of Cypress, Calif.; grandchildren, Jamicyn Jahnke-Deiro of Lincoln, Neb., Jessica Ruark of Richmond, Jason Ruark of Salisbury, Theresa Horvath, Heather Argueta and Lindsay Nydegger, all of Long Beach, Felicia Farber of Bothell, Wash., Danielle Massie of Seattle, Patricia Perez of Renton, Wash., Lisa Osterkamp of Anaheim Hills, Calif., Jennifer Price of Atlanta, Stanley Shreve of Oklahoma City and Alicia Johnson of Virginia Beach, Va.; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Local services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Joel Beiler will officiate. An additional funeral service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Cypress. Interment will be Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury with the Rev. Ronald G. Parker Sr. officiating.

James Paul Shupe
PRINCESS ANNE -- James Paul Shupe, 72, of Princess Anne died Saturday, May 7, 2005, at his home.
Born in Cripple Creek, Va., he was the son of the late Posey and Bertha Miller Shupe.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Holland Shupe.
Mr. Shupe was a life member of American Legion Post 64, where he was a commander twice, and a life member of VFW Post 194. He was a U.S. Navy veteran in active service from 1952 to 1956 as a Quartermaster 3, and he was on inactive reserve from 1956 to 1960. He organized and designed American Legion Post 64 Veterans Memorial Wall with his first wife, Virginia Shupe. He owned and operated Riverside Lawn Sprinkling for 30 years. In 1996 he left the irrigation business and worked at Samis Club until 2003 when he became ill.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Collins Shupe of Princess Anne; four children and their spouses, Cheryl and Rick Baker of Niles, Mich., Michelle D. and Stephen Wheatley of Fruitland, Michael P. and Candy Shupe of Delmar and J. Denny and Mary Ellen Shupe of Medford Lakes, N.J.; a stepson and his wife, Charles and Vickie Collins of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Nathan Shupe and Ellen Shupe of Medford Lakes, Dana and Ashley Baker of Winchester, Va., Dylan and Cody Shupe of Delmar and Trisha Twilley and Cody Wheatley of Fruitland; three sisters, Pauline Lane of Mission, Texas, Sylvia L. Willey of Greenwood and Joy D. Nicholson of Jefferson, Ind.; six brothers, Jay Shupe of Salisbury, John W. Shupe of Anaheim, Calif., Posey A. Shupe Jr. of Seaford, Milton Shupe of Hobbs, N.M., Sam A. Shupe of Parsonsburg and David Shupe of Lewes; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Holloway Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. Elder Duane E. Bivans will officiate. Interment will be in Springhill Memory Gardens near Hebron.
