Palmatary, Ida Stella

Ida Stella Palmatary died on Saturday, February 2, 2002 at the Anne Arundel Medical Center. She was 83.
Born near Starkey's Corner in Queen Anne's County, Maryland on September 1, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Harvey Graham and Clara Estella Jones Palmatary. She attended school in Church Hill, MD and lived with her parents for most of her life.
Miss Palmatary is survived by a brother, John Palmatary of Church Hill and a sister, Mary Gardner of Hockessin, DE. She was pre-deceased by three brothers, Benjamin Franklin Palmatary, Charles Henry Palmatary and James A. Palmatary and a sister, Adelaide Dye.
Graveside services will be held in the Chesterfield Cemetery, Centreville on Wednesday, February 6, 2002 at 2:00 PM.

Clark Sr., Edmund Glenn

Edmund G. “Clarkie” Clark, Sr. of Preston, MD died on Saturday August 3, 2002 at Memorial Hospital at Easton. He was 68.
Born May 13, 1934 in Ohio, he was the son of the late George and Florence Gibbs Clark. He had worked for Nagel Farms in Preston for the last fifteen years.
Mr. Clark is survived by his wife, the former Sylvia Elburn, whom he married
July 9, 1970; three daughters, Lorrie Fluharty, Julie Seigler and Linda Ann Kurtz; four sons, Phillip Clark, Eddie Clark, Bobby Clark and Billy Clark; two brothers; one sister; seventeen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday August 7, 2002 at 7:00 PM at Emmanuel Wesleyan Church, Trappe, MD.

Clough, Edith Ella Thompson

Edith Ella Thompson Clough of Sudlersville, MD, formerly of Ingleside MD died of heart failure on Friday, August 2, 2002 in her daughters home. She was 91.
Born in Everett’s Corner, near Barclay, MD, she was the daughter of the late John Wesley and Susie V. Everett Thompson. She was a homemaker and had attended schools in Baltimore Corner and Ingleside and had been a lifelong resident of that area.
In her early years, Mrs. Clough attended Busic Church and later became a member of the St. Paul’s Methodist Church in Ingleside. She was a member of the Homemakers Club, the United Methodist Women, and the Busic Association. Mrs. Clough was a designated plane spotter during WWII, near Ingleside, MD. She also enjoyed crocheting, family gatherings, her children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Clough was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Robert Clough who died in 1974. She was also preceded by a daughter, Violet Clough Stefan who died in 1987, a son Paul B. “Brownie” Clough who died in 1997, and a brother, John A. “Buck” Thompson who died in 1995.
Mrs. Clough is survived by three daughters, Frances Clark of Sudlersville, MD, Carolyn Butterworth of Crumpton, MD and Betty Ann Coleman of Ingleside, MD; a son, Norman A. Clough of Dover, DE; a step-sister, Thelma Wilson of Worton, MD; a sister-in-law, Pauline Thompson of Barclay, MD; 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2002 at 1pm in the St. Paul’s Methodist Church, Ingleside, MD where friends and family may call 1 hour prior to the service. Friends and family may also call on Tuesday evening from 7-9pm at the Fellows Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 370 W. Cypress St., Millington, MD.
Interment will be in the Sudlersville Cemetery, Sudlersville, MD.

Cohey, Benjamin O.

Benjamin Owen Cohey, of Queenstown, died at the Genesis Eldercare-Corsica Hills Nursing Home, Centreville, on Saturday, August 3, 2002. He was 85.
Born in Queen Anne’s County, November 7, 1916, he was the son of the late William Owen and Mary Taylor Cohey. After attending public school, he drove a freight truck for Marshall’s Express in St. Michaels for 19 years. He then became an auto mechanic and worked for Lawrence Volkswagen, Fortenbaugh Motors and Fuller Motors in Easton before retiring in 1982. He then worked part-time for Potters Automotive in Queenstown for five years. He had lived in Queen Anne’s County for the majority of his life except from 1940 – 1959 when he lived in St. Michaels.
A member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Cordova, he was also a past member of the Queenstown Volunteer Fire Co.
Mr. Cohey is survived by his wife, the former Mary M. Hollingsworth whom he married
in Ridgely in 1940; a son, Benjamin H. Cohey of Cordova; a sister, Emma Walker of DE; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren..
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 7th, at 11 A.M. at the Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., Easton, where friends may call one hour prior to service.
Burial will be at Spring Hill Cemetery, Easton.

Griffin, Mary Elizabeth

Mary Elizabeth Griffin of Queenstown, MD died at the Memorial Hospital, Easton, MD on Monday, August 5, 2002. She was 99.
Born in Queenstown, MD on May 7, 1903, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Johnson and Annie Green.
She was pre-deceased by her husband, Bryson Griffin.
Mrs. Griffin is survived by four generations of cousins, many friends and her special family friends, Carol Caldwell and Jim Caldwell and sons.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Queenstown on Thursday, August 8, 2002 at 2:00. Friends may call at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Queenstown on Thursday, August 8, 2002 from 1:00 – 2:00 PM.
Burial will be in St. Peter’s Catholic Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest contributions to St. Peter’s cemetery 5319 Ocean Gateway, Queenstown, MD 21658 in the name of Mary G. Griffin.

Jarrell, Ruth

Ruth Wegman Jarrell of Towson, MD, formerly of Chestertown, MD died on Tuesday, August 8, 2002 in Towson, MD. She was 84.
Born in Chicago, IL on March 11, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Ernest C. and Bertha S. Wegman. She moved to the Baltimore area during her high school education. She later graduated from Cornell University and worked as a dietitian for the Baltimore School System for many years.
She was a long time member of Babcock Memorial Presbyterian Church and Loch Raven Presbyterian Church were she was actively involved in the Women’s Association, Bible Study groups, and teaching Sunday School for 30 years. She also enjoyed spending her time reading and doing needlework.
She is survived by her husband, William Frank Jarrell of Towson, MD whom she married
in 1952; a step son, William F. Jarrell III; a niece, Barbara Snyder; two nephews, Ernest Wegman and Tom Wegman; two grandchildren, William and Katherine Elizabeth and seven great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2002 at 11:00 A.M. at Chester cemetery in Chestertown, MD.

Margaret Ann Cobb Kemp of Easton, MD died on Saturday August 3, 2002 at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore, MD.She was 75.
Born October 15, 1926 in Gretna, Virginia she was the daughter of the late Irvin and Parlea Flinthoff Cobb.
Memorial services will be private.
