Thompson Larraine, Doris
December 3, 2002

Doris Larraine Bussey Thompson of Easton, MD died on Tuesday, December 3, 2002 at Talbot Hospice House. She was 73.

Born in Severn, MD, July 7, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Paul Harry and Mary Dorothy Blunt Bussey. On March 15, 1963 she married Russel Donovan Thompson, Sr. and they made their home in Glen Burnie until moving to Easton in 1971. Mr. Thompson died November 7, 1998.

She was a member of the First Weslyan Church, Easton.

Mrs. Thompson is survived by a daughter, Charlene M. Libertini of Baltimore; two sons, Russell B. Thompson of MD and Paul J. Thompson of Trappe; a step-daughter, Patricia A Wiley of Bluemont, VA; two step-sons, Donald A. Thompson of Sunbright, TN and Russel D. Thompson, Jr. of Goldsboro, MD; 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2002 at 10:00 AM at First Weslyan Church, Easton. Friends may call on Friday evening from 7 to 9 PM at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., Easton.

Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Easton.

Memorial donations may be made to Talbot Hospice Foundation, 586 Cynwood Dr., Easton, MD 21601.

Blunt, Samuel Wrightson
April 2, 2003

Samuel Wrightson Blunt of Centreville died at Memorial Hospital, Easton, MD on Wednesday, April 2, 2003. He was 82.

Born May 15, 1920 in Grasonville, MD, he was the son of the late Wilmer and Edna Jewell Blunt. He attended school in Grasonville and Centreville, MD. He began working on the family farm and later purchased a farm and was a dairy and grain farmer. On December 19, 1946 he married the former Sarah Capel. Mrs. Blunt died on April 4, 2002.

Mr. Blunt was a member of the Queen Anne County Farm Bureau.

Mr. Blunt is survived daughter, Kathryn B. Melvin of Centreville; a son, Thomas Blunt of Ridgely; a sister, Jane Clemmens of Towson; three grandchildren and one great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. He was pre-deceased by two brothers, Olin Blunt and Carey Blunt and a sister, Marcie Columbo.

Graveside services will be held at the Chesterfield Cemetery, Centreville, MD on Saturday, April 5, 2003 at 10:00 AM.

Memorial donations may be made to the Kent Center, Inc., 15 6th Avenue, Betterton, MD 21610 or the Benedictine School, Benedictine Lane, Ridgely, MD 21660.

Dobson Jr, Arthur William
April 1, 2003

Arthur Wm. Dobson, Jr. died at his home on Tuesday, April 1, 2003. He was the son of Constance Taylor Collier of Cambridge and the late Arthur Wm. Dobson.

In addition to his mother, Mr. Dobson is survived by his stepmother, Betty Dobson of Cambridge and a sister, Connie McNeal and her husband, Jim of Easton.

Services will be private.

Horsey II, Harvey S.
April 6, 2003

Harvey S. Horsey II, a lifelong resident of Easton, died April 6, 2003. He celebrated his 75th birthday on March 1st at Genesis Eldercare-The Pines, where he was receiving care for Lewy Body Dementia.

In 1949 he graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in accounting and started his business career as office manager for Chesapeake Propane Gas Company. In 1951 he married Nancy Carroll and also that same year started his 19 year career in public accounting with Granger, Faw & Company. He was a partner with that firm from 1954, when he passed the CPA exam, until 1970. He was the partner in charge of the Easton office and during that time was involved in providing advice and counsel to the local business community and was also actively involved in community affairs. Beginning in 1960, he was a board member with Easton National Bank and then served on the local advisory board of Maryland National Bank, its successor. In 1971 he left public accounting to work as Financial Vice President with Lincoln County Land and Cattle Company. The company had a variety of business interests in Maryland and Florida and he purchased the company in 1982. He was actively involved with that company until his retirement in the late 1980’s.

His community activities included being President of Easton Little League, involvement with SOS of Easton High School and other organizations with Easton High School and Western Maryland College when his children were students. Buck enjoyed most sports and traveling. He was a season ticket holder for the Baltimore Colts for many years and always found time to support his children and grandchildren in their academic and sporting activities. His travels took him to Europe, Asia and all over the United States.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Horsey is survived by two sons, Harvey S. Horsey III and his wife, Susan and Stuart P. Horsey and his wife, Thia all of Easton; two daughters, Pamela Horsey of Severna Park and Becky Carrico and her husband, Joe of Easton; eight grandchildren, Harvey S. Horsey IV, Spencer Horsey, Stuart P. Horsey, Jr., David Horsey, Matthew Horsey, Kevin Carrico, Brooke Carrico and Lauren Carrico, all of Easton.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2003 at 11:00 AM at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, Easton, MD.

Burial will be at Spring Hill Cemetery, Easton, MD.

Memorial donations may be made to Talbot County Advanced Life Support, 29241 Corkran Rd., Easton, MD 21601 or St. Mark’s United Methodist Church Scholarship Fund, 100 Peachblossom Rd. Easton, MD 21601.

Ingram, Grace
April 5, 2003

Grace Rowland Ingram of Chestertown, MD, formerly of Bryn Mawr, PA died on Saturday, April 5, 2003 in Magnolia Hall Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Chestertown, MD. She was 95.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Horace and Sarah Phillips Rowland. She was the former wife of the late Frederick C. Phillis and the late David Ingram.

She worked as a practical nurse in Bryn Mawr, PA and retired in 1984.

She was a member of the Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Ingram is survived by a daughter, Grace Phillis Hopkins, and her husband F. Thomas Hopkins, M.D. of Kennedyville, MD; two sons, David Scott Ingram of Worton, MD and Brandon John Ingram of Doe Run, PA; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Magnolia Hall Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 200 Morgnec Road, Chestertown, MD 21620.

Northam, William F.
April 7, 2003

William Frederick Northam of Stevensville, MD died on Monday, April 7, 2003 at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, MD. He was 91.

Col. Northam was born in Columbia City, IN on December 14, 1911, the son of the late Frank M. and Fanny M. Wunderlich Northam. He graduated from Culver Summer Naval School in 1929 and from Culver Military Academy in 1930. After receiving an Honor School Appointment to the United States Military Academy of West Point, N.Y. he graduated in 1934.

Col. Northam’s Military assignments included; The Infantry School, Fort Bennington, GA; Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, KN; The National Air College, Maxwell Field, AL; and the Armed Forces Information School, Carlisle Barracks, PA. Other assignments included: Fort Benjamin Harrison, IN from 1934 to 1935, Schofield Barracks, HI from 1935 to 1937, Fort Benning, GA from 1937 to 1938, Fort Crook, NB from 1939 to 1941, Schofield Barracks, HI from 1940 to 1942, Camp Roberts, CA in 1942, Camp San Louis Obispo, CA in 1943, Camp Rucker, AL in 1943, Camp Butner, NC from 1943 to 1944, European Theater of Operations Combat Service in France, Luxembourg, Belgium, Holland, and Germany from 1944 to 1945, Camp Breckinridge, KY in 1945, Fort Benjamin Harrison, IN from 1946 to 1947, Fort Leavenworth, KN from 1947 to 1948, Carlisle Barracks, PA in 1948, Washington D.C. from 1948 to 1949, Maxwell Air Force Base, AL from 1949 to 1950, Headquarters Far East Command, Tokyo from 1951 to 1953, Fifth Army Headquarters, Chicago, IL from 1953 to 1957, Strategic Intelligence School, Washington D.C. in 1957, Army Attaché, Bucharest, Rumania from 1957 to 1960, Augsburg Germany from 1960 to 1962, and Paris France from 1962 to 1964.

In August of 1964 he retired with the rank of Full Colonel. His awards included the Silver Star, 2 Bronze Star Medals, Legion of Merit, Joint Services Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, and the Croix de Guerre avec palme.

On June 22, 1938 he married Nancy Wright Wriston at Langley Field, VA. After retirement to Maitland, FL, he was the first director of the Maitland Civic Center, and for several years a stockbroker with A.G. Edwards and Sons Inc. in Orlando, FL. In 1997 he and his wife moved to Stevensville to live near their daughter Sally Campion and her family.

Col. Northam lived by the West Point Credo of Duty, Honor, and Country all his life in everything he did. His loyalty and friendship to every West Pointer and especially his classmates knew no bounds. He loved to shout “I give you 34.”

In addition to his wife, Nancy, he is survived by three daughters, Barbara W. Matteo of Tolland, CT, Patricia A. Riedel of Bradenton, FL and Sally N. Campion of Stevensville, MD; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two nieces; three nephews and several cousins. One brother, James K. Northam, and one sister, Frances Marian Grace, predeceased him.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, April 11, 2003 at 4 PM at the Island Alliance Church in Stevensville, MD. Inurnment services will be held at West Point, NY at a later date.
