POLLY NOCK BYRD, 97, of Hallwood died Sunday, March 6, 2005. A funeral service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Fox Funeral Home in Temperanceville, where a visitation will be held Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Interment will be in John W. Taylor Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Atlantic Baptist Church, Window Fund, PO Box 397, Atlantic, Va. 23303.

DORIS CATHERINE ENSMINGER, 89, of Hagerstown, Md., died Sunday, March 6, 2005, at Twin Oaks Assisted Living in Williamsport, Md. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Catonsville United Methodist Church in Catonsville, Md.

WENDELL C. FITZGERALD, 90, of Cambridge died Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at his home. A funeral service will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Cambridge, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Maryland Veterans cemetery near Hurlock. Arrangements are by Thomas Funeral Home.

MARY EMILY DICKERSON MATTHEWS, 105, of Snow Hill died Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at the home she shared with her daughter in Snow Hill. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Bates Memorial United Methodist Church in Snow Hill, where friends may call from 2 to 3 p.m. Interment will be held at Bates Memorial cemetery in Snow Hill. Arrangements by Short Funeral Home in Delmar.

LOTTIE SARAH WAINWRIGHT, 95, of Princess Anne died Saturday, March 5, 2005, at Manokin Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Princess Anne. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Metropolitan United Methodist Church in Princess Anne, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in John Wesley Bowland Hill cemetery in Princess Anne. Arrangements are by Anthony E. Ward Funeral Home in Princess Anne.

CHARLES E. WALKER, 77, of Sanford died Monday, March 7, 2005. A memorial service will be held today at 11 a.m. at Hammocks with a graveside service to follow at John W. Taylor Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sanford Methodist Church, PO Box 13, Sanford, Va. 23426. Arrangements are by Fox Funeral Home in Temperanceville.

ARCHIE MEARS BENNETT SR., 85, of Hacks Neck, Va., died Monday, March 7, 2005, at his home. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Evergreen United Methodist Church in Hacks Neck, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Belle Haven cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Eastern Shore, PO Box 316, Parksley, Va. 23421 or Evergreen United Methodist Church, c/o Mrs. Cindy Curtis, PO Box 155, Pungoteague, Va. 23422. ROBERT W. BOWDEN, 84, of Chincoteague died Monday, March 7, 2005, at Shore Life Care at Parksley. A religious service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Union Baptist Church in Chincoteague. Friends may call tonight from 7 to 9 at Salyer Funeral Home, with a Masonic Lodge service at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in Mechanics cemetery in Chincoteague. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial donations may be made to Union Baptist Church, 6365 Church St., Chincoteague, Va. 23338.

GOV. ELBERT N. CARVEL, 94, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005, at his home in Laurel. A public memorial service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at St. Philip's Episcopal Church in Laurel, where friends may call from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Parking for the service has been reserved at the Laurel Fire Department and at the old Food City, with shuttle bus service being provided before and after the service. Another memorial service will be held in Dover at Legislative Hall at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 92 Read's Way, Suite 205, New Castle, Del. 19720. Arrangements are being handled by Short Funeral Home in Laurel.

JOSEPH DAVID JONES, 82, of Cambridge died Sunday, March 6, 2005. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Chapel of Gardens of Faith Memorial Gardens, 5598 Trumps Mill Road in Baltimore. Arrangements are being handled by Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home in Cambridge.

GEORGE WILLIAM MARTIN, 72, of Millsboro died Saturday, March 5, 2005, at Anchorage Nursing Home in Salisbury. Friends may call Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. at Hastings Funeral Home in Selbyville.

MICHAEL A. MORAN JR., 79, of Millville died Friday, March 4, 2005, at his home. Services and burial will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Hastings Funeral Home in Selbyville.

VICTORIA BERTHA REID SHOWELL, 76, of Bishopville died Wednesday, March 2, 2005, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Curtis United Methodist Church in Bishopville, where friends may call one hour prior to the service and on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Lewis N. Watson Funeral Home in Salisbury.

PETTY OFFICER FREDERICK TEAGUE THOMAS, 71, of Poquoson, Va., and formerly of Parksley, died Saturday, March 5, 2005, at his home. A graveside funeral will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. in Onancock cemetery with military honors. LAWRENCE JOSEPH WOOD, 93, of Cheriton, Va., died Sunday, March 6, 2005, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Va. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church. Interment will be in Cape Charles Cemetery. RALPH ALEXANDER BROUGHTON, 56, of Salisbury died Monday, Jan. 10, 2005, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center. A funeral service will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Jolley Memorial Chapel in Salisbury, where friends may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and again on Friday, one hour prior to service. Interment will be in Green Acres Memorial Park in Salisbury.

PRESTON JAMES CAREY, 74, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005, at home. A memorial service will be held Friday, Jan. 21, at 2 p.m. at Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin, where visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m.

MARY JANE PARKS DEAN JAGLOWSKI, 84, of Cambridge died Monday, Jan. 10, 2005. A funeral service will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home in Cambridge, where the family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and also one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Dorchester Memorial Park.

MARGUERITE JACKSON JONES, 80, of Vienna died Monday, Jan. 10, 2005, at Sarah, Margaret & Mollie's Place in Salisbury. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church in Vienna, where friends may call Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and Saturday one hour prior to service.

HAZEL M. PARKS, 97, of Georgetown, and formerly of Snow Hill, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005, at Harrison House in Georgetown. A funeral service will be held Friday at noon at Short Funeral Services in Georgetown, where friends may call after 11 a.m. Interment will be in Bates cemetery in Snow Hill.

FRANKLIN G. RANTZ, 79, of Snow Hill died Monday, Jan. 10, 2005. A celebration of his life will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at American Legion Post 94 in Princess Anne.

BARBARA JEAN WOLF SEIDL, 56, of Delmar died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2005, at Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Baltimore. A funeral service will be held Thursday at noon at Trinity Wesleyan Church in Dover, where friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon. Burial will be in Sharon Hill Memorial Park in Dover.

DOROTHY J. DAUGHERTY, 81, of Crisfield died Friday, Jan. 7, 2005, at McCready Memorial Hospital in Crisfield. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Crisfield Church of God. Friends may call Monday evening from 7 to 9 at the church. Interment will be in Sunnyridge Memorial Park in Crisfield. Arrangements are being handled by Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield.

JOANNE TIMMONS HASTINGS, 68, of Princess Anne died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005, Deer's Head Hospital Center in Salisbury. A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury, with visitation Tuesday from 10 a.m. to noon.

ELSIE WATSON JACKSON, 92, of Salisbury, and formerly of Chester, Pa., died Friday, Jan. 7, 2005, at Atria Assisted Living Center. A funeral service will be Monday at 7 p.m. at Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury, where friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Interment will be Tuesday in Ashton, Pa.

MARY A. NOLAN of Woolford died Friday, Jan. 7, 2005, at Chesapeake Woods Center in Cambridge. A graveside funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Maryland Veterans cemetery near Hurlock. ROBERT E. LEE BUCKNER, 55, of Princess Anne died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005, at his home. He will be cremated, followed by a memorial service in Philadelphia on Saturday, Jan. 22. Arrangements are being handled by Bennie Smith Funeral Home in Princess Anne.

HESSIE CHESTNUT RAFF, 90, of Cape Charles, and formerly of New Jersey, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2005, at the home of her granddaughter in Eastville.
