Lorraine C. Clohan
DEEPHAVEN, Minn. - Lorraine C. Clohan (Schultz), 54, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003 at her home.
Born in Erie, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Robert E. Schultz and the late Rose M. Schultz.
She held degrees in Law Enforcement Administration, Social and Public Administration, and she obtained her Masters degree in Management Science from American University in 1991.
She was an officer with the mounted police of Charleston, S.C. from 1972 to 1978. She worked for the Mitre Corporation of McLean, Va. from 1982 to 1989, and numerous years for Alliant Tech Systems.
She loved reading, flying airplanes, riding horses and motorcycles, and spending time with her friends and family. She was outgoing and easily made new friends. Her positive attitude through almost three years of coping with breast cancer is an inspiration and example for all who knew her.
She is survived by her long time companion, Douglas Sather of Deephaven, Minn.; a son, Donald Sottile of Pompano Beach, Fla.; a grandson, Jacob Sottile; a sister, Mary Adrian Price of Berlin; a niece, Maria MacInnes of Bel Air, Md.; a nephew, Louis Allessie of Bel Air; an uncle, Dr. Lawrence Marcella of New Castle, Pa.; an aunt, Mary Lou Shader of Vienna, Va.; cousins, Steve Marcella of Boca Raton, Fla., Jeff Marcella of Chicago, Ill., Marcie Kester of Fairfax Station, Va., Mike Marcella and Mary Marcella of Colorado Springs, Colo., Matt Marcella of West Hempstead, N.Y., Margie Marcella of Calif.; and godmother, Lydia Borowy of Erie, Pa.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 20 at St. Margaret's Church in Bel Air, Md.

Kenneth R. DeJarnette
OCEAN VIEW - Kenneth R. DeJarnette, 72, died Monday, Aug. 25, 2003 at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, Del.
Born in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Harry T. and Helen Bertha Schmidt DeJarnette.
Mr. DeJarnette was a graduate of the University of Maryland. He had worked with Westinghouse, Scott Paper Company, Bob Banks Consultants and the Interstate Commerce Commission. He retired in 1997 as an economist specializing in transportation for the Library of Congress Congressional research division.
He is survived by his wife, Beryl Roswitta Flitton DeJarnette; two sons, Mark DeJarnette of Odenton, Md. and Brian DeJarnette of Fairfield, Conn.; three daughters, Linda McDermott of New London, Pa., Denise VanBuren of Bethlehem, Pa. and Karen Vorsteg of Columbia, Md.; 11 grandchildren; one sister, Mary Ellen Eagan of Huntingtown, Md.; one niece; and one nephew.
Services were held on Friday, Aug. 29 at the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin.

Charles Vance Wilkins
WILLARDS - Charles Vance Wilkins, 56, died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2003 at his home.
Born in Powellville, he was the son of the late Charles Handy Wilkins and Ruth Davis Wilkins.
Mr. Wilkins had formerly been employed with Moore Business Forms in Snow Hill and was employed with Peoples and United Life Insurance Companies.
He had been a member of Powellville United Methodist Church, Burbage's Hunting Club, Willards Little League supporter and former member of the Willards Fire Department and the Willards Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife, Debra Pherigo Wilkins; two sons, Greg Wilkins and his wife Valerie of Libertytown and Kyle Wilkins of Willards; a daughter, Andrea Wilkins of Willards; two grandchildren, Wade and Benjamin Wilkins both of Libertytown; a sister, Gail Moore and brother-in-law Denver Moore of Pittsville; two nieces, Erika Moore and Carla Moore both of Pittsville; and a nephew, Derrick Moore of Pittsville.
Services were held on Wednesday, Sept. 3 at the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin.

Robert Lewis Hastings
BERLIN - Robert Lewis Hastings, 60, died Thursday, Oct. 16, 2003 at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin.
Born in Salisbury, he was the son of the late Robert Wilkerson and Helen Spencer Hastings Gray.
Mr. Hastings had been a maintenance engineer at the Dunes Manor in Ocean City and had been a waterman. He was a member of the Berlin First Baptist Church and an U.S. Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Williams Hastings and two sons, Brian Robert Hastings of Fruitland and Christopher Robert Hastings of Berlin.
Services were held on Monday, Oct. 20 at the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin with interment at Evergreen cemetery in Berlin.

Doris Hazel Cloyd
BERLIN - Doris Hazel Cloyd, 76, died Monday, Oct. 20, 2003 at her home.
Born in Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Maggie Price.
She is survived by her husband, Tommy James Cloyd; two sons, James W. Cloyd and Gordon G. Cloyd both of Berlin; one daughter, Connie J. Stevens; and husband David of Berlin; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Eva Buchanan and her husband Oscar of Mississippi and Sandra Bernett of Mississippi.
She was preceded in death by a son, Billy L. Cloyd, Sr. in 2001.
Services were held on Thursday, October 23 at Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin.

Myrtle Anne Latchum
BERLIN - Myrtle Anne Latchum, 81, died Monday, Oct. 20, 2003 at the Berlin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Roland Carey, Sr. and Anna Sarah Carey.
Mrs. Latchum had been a sales clerk at Dollar General.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Zeno Latchum and a grandson, Brain Michael Ullrich.
She is survived by a son, Jeff Latchum and his wife Linda of Berlin; two daughters, Anne Lewis and her husband George of Bishopville and Saralee Ullrich and her husband Michael of Berlin; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Roland Carey, Jr. and his wife Betty; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were held on Friday, Oct. 24 at the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin with interment at Riverside cemetery in Libertytown.

Catherine Wharton Noon
OCEAN PINES - Catherine Wharton Noon, 93, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2003 at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin.
Born in Princess Anne, she was the daughter of the late Ira C. Wharton and Mary J. Adams Wharton.
Mrs. Noon was an assistant administrator of Church Home Hospital in Baltimore.
She is survived by a son, John P. Noon and wife Eve of Princeton, N.J.; a daughter, Stasia Huebeck of Ocean Pines; a sister, Margaret H. Wharton of Ocean Pines; six grandchildren,, Mike, John and Thomas Huebeck and Patrick, Daniel and Suzannah Noon; and four great grandchildren, Stacey, Katherine, Abigail, and Alexander.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary E. Wharton and Sarah I. Wharton.
A memorial Mass was held on Friday, Oct. 24 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church.
