Robert L. Money
BERLIN – Robert L. Money 84, of Ocean City died Monday, Jan. 2, 2006.
Born in Washington, D.C., he was the son of Marion J. Money and Edna Cotton Money. He served in the United States Coast Guard for the Normandy invasion in 1945 as well as the Coast Guard Reserves until 1954 as Chief Petty Officer. He was employed by the C&P Telephone Company, serving 27 years in Washington, D.C. He transferred to Ocean City in 1968 and retired in February of 1981, with 40 years service. He was a member of the Telephone Company Pioneers and the American Legion Post 166. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Theda J. Money; a daughter, Barbara Wrightson; two grandsons, Robert and Russell Wrightson; and three great-grandchildren, Connor, Garrett and Kylie. He was preceded in death by one brother, William Money.
A graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Park on Friday at 1 p.m. Reverend Alex Ayres will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the First Presbyterian Church, 1301 Philadelphia Ave., Ocean City, Md. 21842.
John J. Dilius
BERLIN – John Joseph Dilius, 77, died Saturday, Dec. 31, 2005 at his home in Ocean City.
Born in Patterson, N.J., he was the son of the late Michael and Anna Staruti Dilius. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary A. Dilius, in 2004. He is survived by his daughter, Maureen Grell, and her husband Stephen and a granddaughter, Kaitlin Grell of Hazlet, N.J.
Dilius had been employed for many years as an office worker in a manufacturing company. He was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church in Ocean City and was on the Ocean City Seniors bowling league.
A funeral service was held at the Burbage Funeral Home in Berlin. Interment was in Gate of Heaven cemetery in Dagsboro.

Perrie Wilson Waters
BERLIN – Perrie Wilson Waters, 86, died at home on Jan. 1, 2006 surrounded by his family.
He was born on March 19, 1919, the son of Richard L. Waters and Sarah Ray Wilson Waters. He spent his childhood in Germantown and Rockville, Md., entered the University of Maryland in 1937, and was drafted into the Army in 1941 while still in school. He completed Officer Candidate School and served as an instructor at various Army training installations until 1944, when he was shipped to the battlefront in Europe. Before departing in August, he married
Mary Joan Bell, to whom he was devoted until her death in 1997. While serving in Europe as 1st Lieutenant in the 68th Armored Infantry Battalion, 14th Armored Division, he received two purple hearts and a Bronze Star for meritorious service. The citation read, "As a leader of a machine gun platoon which occupied an extremely hazardous position, he constantly circulated among his men in the face of intense enemy artillery and mortar fire and successfully aided and directed their efforts. His brilliant leadership and cool courage provided an outstanding example for his men and were of substantial aid in maintaining a high state of morale."
Upon returning from the war, he completed his college education at the University of Maryland, receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture in 1947. He moved to the Eastern Shore in 1947, purchased a lot and built his current home in Public Landing in 1952. He worked in the poultry industry for Dryden Hatchery, Fulton Broiler Service and Feed Mill, and Holly Farms Poultry Industry. Leadership positions included managing the Feed Mill and Hatchery and Breeder Divisions for Holly Farms in Snow Hill. He co-chaired the Delmarva Hatchery Association’s annual Golf Tournament, a fundraiser for the Association’s scholarship fund and was a charter member and a member of the Board of Directors of the Nassawango Country Club. With family and friends, he enjoyed fishing, crabbing, hunting, golfing, built two houseboats and boated regularly on the Chincoteague Bay. He was loved and admired for his wit and character and will be missed greatly.
He is survived by his children, Perrie Wilson Waters, Jr., of Cokesbury; Susan Bell Waters of Half Moon Bay, Calif.; Marty Pusey and her husband William of Snow Hill; Donald Weldon Waters and his wife Linda of Pleasant Hill, Calif.; and grandchildren Brian, Katie, and Sarah Pusey and Ryan Waters.
Services were held at Makemie Memorial Presbyterian Church. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.

Frances Rose Sharman
BERLIN – Frances Rose Sharman, age 83, died Friday, Dec. 30, 2005 at the Berlin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Harry Phillip Cahill and Rose Rosasco Cahill. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee R. Sharman, in 1983. She is survived by her daughter Linda L. Rutter and her husband Brian of Ocean City and a son Harry Phillip "Bruz" Sharman and his wife Diane of Indian Shore, Fla.
Sharman had been a homemaker and was a member of the V.F.W. Post #8296 Auxillary in Ocean City.
A graveside service was held at Parkwood cemetery in Baltimore.

Samuel Joseph Fonte
BERLIN – Samuel Joseph Fonte, Jr. died peacefully on Friday, Dec. 30, 2005.
He was an entrepreneur who was self employed from the age of 40.
He was the son of the late Samuel J Fonte, Sr. and the late Catherine Madden. He was the cherished husband of Joan Fonte and the beloved father of Michelle Fonte of Ocean City. He is also survived by two step brothers, Larry Heinze of Ellicott City and David Heinze of Severn, Md., and many dear friends.
Born in Baltimore, Fonte attended Mt. Washington Country School, was a Loyola High School graduate and earned a degree at Loyola College. He served in the United States Army. He was the president of the Baltimore Junior Chamber of Commerce and was instrumental in bringing one of the first large conventions to the city. He was the campaign manager for Thomas D’Alesandro III, mayor of Baltimore. He was the campaign manager for William Swisher, the State’s Attorney, and remained active in numerous Democratic political campaigns during the 60s and 70s. He served on the Board of Directors for five companies in the Baltimore and Washington DC area. From then on, he invested in real estate along the East Coast. He opened several businesses in both the Baltimore and Ocean City areas, advised his daughter on her business endeavors and retired in Ocean City where he had previously been a member of the Ocean City beach patrol. At the time of his death, he was writing a book about the stock market.
During his last few years, he enjoyed a relaxed lifestyle of sitting in his oceanfront porch, daily rides on the Boardwalk train and spending quality time with his family and friends. His wit, charm and style will be greatly missed.

Evelyn Burbage Belote
BERLIN – Evelyn Burbage Belote, age 94, died at the Ginger Cove Nursing Home in Annapolis on April 20.
Born in Berlin, she was the daughter of the late William Thomas Burbage and Daisy Lee Bassett Burbage. She was preceded in death by her husbands Walter Jamison and Clinton Belote and brothers William P. and Luther T.. Burbage.
Belote was a graduate of the Salisbury Hospital School of Nursing and served as an Army nurse at Walter Reed Hospital from 1932 to 1935 and other hospitals thereafter. Belote was an antique dealer and antique doll collector. She was a member of St. Paul’s By-The-Sea Episcopal Church in Ocean City.
She is survived by a brother, Charles L. "Mike" Burbage of Annapolis, Md.; four nieces; two nephews; and their families.

William Thomas Dohme, Sr.
BERLIN – William Thomas Dohme, Sr., age 72, died at his home on Tuesday, April 18.
Born in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Ralph Dohme and Regina Curran Dohme. Dohme was a systems analyst in the banking business.
He is survived by two sons, Robert C. "Bob" Dohme of Kingsville, Md. and William Thomas Dohme, Jr. of Snow Hill; one daughter Jessica Marie Colbert of Seven Valleys, Pa.; one sister, Dorothy Minahan of Stevensville, Md.; two grandchildren, William Thomas Fitzgibbons, III and Brianna Leigh Fitzgibbons; and several nieces and nephews.

John J. Ross, Jr.
BERLIN – John J. Ross Jr., 58, died Friday, April 21.
Born in Baltimore, he was the son of the late John J. Ross Sr. and Betty Jane Guildner Ross. He is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Sherry; two sons, Shane R. and his wife Wendy of Westminster, and Ryan J. and his wife Renee of Joppa; and two grandchildren, Meghan E. and Logan J.
Ross had retired after 31 years as a community supervisor from Baltimore County Credit Union. He was also a physical education teacher at John Paul Regional School. He was president of High Point North Condominiums and vice president of Wight Bay Condominium Assoc. He was an active member of the Ocean City Condo Association.
Services were held.
C. Wilson Hickman
BERLIN – C. Wilson Hickman, 83, of Tallahassee, Fla., formerly of Selbyville, Del., died Saturday, April 22, 2006 at his home.
Born in Bishopville, he was the son of the late Charles W. and Marie Hickman. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Elizabeth Godwin Hickman of Tallahassee; a daughter Durene E. Gilbert and her husband Terry of Tallahassee, Fla.; a granddaughter, Tyler Gilbert; a brother Darwin and his wife Elizabeth of Salisbury, Md.; a sister-in-law, Vivian Hickman of Bishopville; three nieces, Rita Taylor and her husband Buzz of Bishopville, Lois Wells and her husband Rick of Bishopville, Dixie Lee Cole and her husband Allen of Sydney, Australia; and 16 grand nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Louis J. Hickman.
Hickman had owned and operated Wilson’s Amoco on 44th Street in Ocean City for 20 years. He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church near Bishopville.
Funeral services will be today at 1 p.m. at Hastings Funeral Home in Selbyville. Friends may call one hour prior.
