Vivian Anne Leonard, 74, of Westminster, died Sunday August 29, 2010 at College View Nursing Home in Frederick. Born August 27, 1936 in Yonkers, New York, she was the daughter of the late Rosalia Solensky and Ludwig Hartmann.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of Calvary Christian Fellowship Church in Westminster and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are children and spouses Douglass Isherwood of Troy, NY, Robert Isherwood of Santa Fe, NM, Kathleen Isherwood of Latham, NY, Karen and Vaughn Fitzgerald, Mark and Jennifer Isherwood both of Westminster, Richard and Melissa Isherwood of Florida, NY, Charles Isherwood of Santa Fe, NM and Lyn Ashton of Halfmoon, NY, sisters Lucille Barth of Newhall, Ca.and brother William Hartmann of Archbald, Pa. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by brother Reynold Hartmann.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. and from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the Fletcher Funeral Home, 254 E. Main Street, Westminster.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m on Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Ted Hill and Charles Curry co-officiating. Interment in Westminster Cemetery.

Volena Murl Study

Volena Murl Study, 86, of Finksburg, died Monday, August 30, 2010 at the Carroll Hospital Center. Born December 22, 1923 in Sutton, WV, she was the daughter of the late Rose Davis Coombs and Robert Coombs. She was the wife of 64 years to Frederick L. Study, whom she married
Oct. 12, 1946.
She spent her life as a homemaker. She enjoyed playing bingo, gardening and baking and had a love for music which she introduced to her family, playing the mandolin and guitar. She was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Finksburg.
Surviving in addition to her husband are daughters and sons-in-law Sandra L. and Roger Bicksler of Westminster, Donna L. and John Rafferty of Taneytown, Bonnie R. Study of Finksburg, son and daughter-in-law F. Steve and S. Denise Study of Hanover, sisters Thelma Lewis of Randallstown and Ilene Ray of Salisbury. Also surviving are grandchildren Shannon N. Lewis, April D. Beall, Michele L. Laughman, Shane A. and Heather L. Rafferty, great-grandchildren Morgan C. Lewis, Bailey M. Guinn, Trystan S. Laughman, Shaylee L. Beall, Logan C. Beall and Jackson R. Laughman.
She was predeceased by a grandson Shaun R. Bicksler and brothers and sisters Robert M. Coombs, Rosetta Coombs, Lenora Coombs, Percy Lee Coombs, Mona Neela Coombs, Odis Oscar Coombs, Ruth Jane Coombs, Patrick Burn Coombs and Esta Beulah Coombs.
Funeral services and interment will be held privately.

Anna Virginia Leister
Born in Manchester on Apr. 2, 1916

Anna "Annie" Virginia Leister, 94, of Westminster, died Thursday, September 2, 2010 at Longview Nursing Home in Manchester. Born April 2, 1916 in Westminster, she was the daughter of the late Henry A. Rickle and Mary Marie Bauerline Rickle. She was the wife of 66 years to the late Warren D. "Curly" Leister who died February 5, 2008.
Before retiring she first worked for a sewing factory in Littlestown and then Modern Ideal Cleaners. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Westminster. She enjoyed bowling duckpins at Taneytown and Westminster Lanes as well as Green Gables and Modern Recreation Bowling Lanes. She was a volunteer quilter for over 45 years at the Carroll County Farm Museum and earned the Volunteer of the Year for Carroll County for her services at the Farm Museum. She participated in the Patapsco United Methodist Church Quilting Guild as well as the Hillside and Carroll County Homemakers Club. She volunteered at the St. John Catholic Church Annual Christmas Bazaars and famous for her Walnut Cakes, African violets, and Quilting. She was a member Starners Dam Assoc.
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-laws Patricia Ann and John H. Keeney of Union Bridge, Alice Rebecca and Steven Mehring all of Union Bridge, Gertrude "Trudy" Leister of Westminster, grandchildren Steven Keeney and wife Cheryl of Union Bridge, Daniel Keeney and wife Brenda of Keymar, Barbara Stone and husband Michael of Westminster, Melinda "Mindy" Keeney of Westminster, Amanda Jones and husband Kimani of Union Bridge, and Brian Keeney and companion Tara O'Reilly of Westminster, great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Charles, Darlene, and Isaac Keeney, Tyler Stone,. Also surviving are sisters Josephine Wagner and Theresa R. Toporzycki both of Westminster, a brother Robert E. Rickle of Baltimore. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. A foster sister Helen Beard Toporzycki of Baltimore and foster brother Fred Beard of Westminster.
She was predeceased by a son-in-law Elmer Keeney Sr., sisters Evelyn Snader and Reba Poole, grandson Elmer Keeney Jr., father and mother-in-law Roy and Amanda Leister, brother-in-law Paul Leister and sisters-in-law Grace and Ruth Leister.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 7-9 p.m and on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m at the Fletcher Funeral Home, 254 E. Main St., Westminster where a Rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe Street, Westminster. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg.

James Saintcross

James Joseph "Jim" Saintcross, 64, of Taneytown, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010 at the Carroll Hospital Center. Born May 12, 1946 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Emil Saintcross and Anna Gentile Saintcross. Before retiring he was a mechanic at Bethlehem Steel. He served in the Army during Vietnam.
Survived by nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and devoted companion Charlene Gist.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday evening at 7 p.m. at the Fletcher Funeral Home, 254 E. Main St., Westminster with Rev. Richard Shamer officiating. Interment will be private at Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery.
Sharon Gist
Born in Baltimore on Nov. 20, 1956
Departed on Sep. 7, 2010 and resided in Westminster, MD.
Sharon Kaye "Sherry" Gist, 53, of Westminster, died Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at Carroll Hospice's Dove House. Born Nov. 20, 1956 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Shirley Manus Williams and Charles Williams of Essex. She was the wife of 25 years of Bruce Gist of Westminster.
Before retiring, she worked as an accountant for BGE for 25 years. She enjoyed home decorating, the Outer Banks, shopping, laughter, gardening and her golden retrievers Brody and Brooks.
Besides her husband and father, she is survived by son Brent M. Gist of Westminster and sister and brother-in-law Cathy and Norman Combs of Rosedale.
She was predeceased by brother Ronnie Williams.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Fletcher Funeral Home, 254 E. Main St., Westminster.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Benjamin's Lutheran Church, 700 Krider's cemetery Rd., Westminster, MD 21158 with Rev. David S. Schafer officiating. Interment in Krider's Church Cemetery.

Franklin Haines
Born in Union Mills on Apr. 13, 1945

Franklin Delano "Frank" Haines, 65, of Westminster, died Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at the Carroll Hospice Dove House. Born April 13, 1945 in Union Mills, he was the son of the late Ruth Swain Haines and Theodore Arthur Haines. Survived by his wife of 45 years Patricia Rodkey "Pat" Haines of Westminster.
Before retiring he worked as a machinist at Black and Decker in Hampstead and also worked as a heating and air conditioning technician. He was a Ravens and Orioles fan and was an old car buff.
Besides his wife he is survived by son Jeffrey F. Haines of Westminster, daughter and son-in-law Michelle A. and Mark Hundertmark of Eldersburg, brothers Donald Haines of Taneytown and Kenneth Haines of Thurmont, sister Barbara Shipley of Westminster, grandsons Mason and Max Hundertmark of Eldersburg.
The family will receive friends on Friday, Sept. 10 from 5 until time of services at 7:30 P.M. at the Fletcher Funeral Home, 254 E. Main St., Westminster with Rev. Gerald Fuss, pastor of Emmanuel Baust United Church of Christ officiating. Interment will be private.

Richard Lee Dahlberg Sr.

Richard Lee "Dick" Dahlberg Sr., age 84, of Westminster died Sunday September 12, 2010 at Carroll Hospice Dove House. Born February 9, 1926 in Watertown, South Dakota he was the son of the late Minnie Peterson and Paul Dahlberg. Twice married
his first wife Cathryn H. Dahlberg died June 18, 2008. He is survived by his second wife Katharine Dahlberg
Before retiring he was an Electrical Engineer for Westinghouse. He served in the United States Navy during the World War II. He was a member of Kirkridge Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church.
Besides his wife he is survived by a son Richard L. Dahlberg Jr., of Gaithersburg, MD, a daughter and son-in-law C. Renee and James Baroch of Abingdon, MD, a sister and husband Gay and Bob Dalton of San Diego, and a grandson Richard Dahlberg of Gaithersburg. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother Don Dahlberg.
A funeral service will be held on Friday September 17, 2010 at 11 a.m at the Krug Chapel, 300 St. Luke Circle, Westminster, with his pastor Rev. James Wittke officiating. Interment will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens with Military Honors at 2 p.m.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 on Thursday at the Fletcher Funeral Home, 254 E. Main Street, Westminster.
