Gloria A. Yonkoski, 65, of Westminster died Friday, December 4, 2009 at Harbor Hospital in Baltimore. Born May 23, 1944 in Baltimore she was the daughter of William Clyde Alvis and Marguerite Clark Alvis. She was the wife of David F. Yonkoski of Westminster.
Besides her husband she is survived by daughter Danielle Selby of Westminster.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at 11 A.M. at Fletcher Funeral Home, 254 E. Main St., Westminster with Rev. Dale Krotee of St. Matthew's United Church of Christ officiating. Inurnment in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
John Meininger
Born in Bethesda on May 18, 1925
Departed on Nov. 25, 2009 and resided in Westminster, MD.
John Meininger, 84, of Westminster died Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at Northwest Hospital in Randallstown. Born May 18, 1925 in Bethesda he was the husband of Neva L. Meininger of Westminster.
Before retiring he worked for Montgomery Public Schools as a water treatment specialist.
Besides his wife he is survived by daughters Laura Eyler, Winona Barnes, Helen Kidd, sons Clifton and Harvey Meininger. Also survived by 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009 at 12 Noon at Fletcher Funeral Home, 254 E. Main St., Westminster.

Carl Wayne Pruitt, 54 of Westminster died Saturday, December 5, 2009 at the Carroll Hospice Dove House. Born July 23, 1955 in Baltimore he was the son of the late Sherman Pruitt and JoAnn Painter.

John Clifford Schaeffer, Jr.
Born in Frizzellburg on Oct. 6, 1943
Departed on Dec. 10, 2009 and resided in Westminster, MD.
John Clifford Schaeffer Jr., 66, of Westminster, died unexpectedly, Thursday, December 10, 2009 at the University Of Maryland Medical Center, due to complications as a result of a heart attack. Born Oct. 6, 1943 in Frizzelburg, he was the son of the late Marian Ruth McAllister and John Clifford Schaeffer, Sr. He is survived by his wife Jalna Yohn Schaeffer whom he married
on May 28, 1964.
He owned and operated his own truck currently leased to SCC. He was a member of the Westminster Moose No. 1381, VFW Post No. 467 and a life-time member of Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association and St. Benjamin's (Kriders) Lutheran Church. He was a 1961 graduate of Francis Scott Key High School and enjoyed working on his truck, socializing with his many friends, and spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife he is survived by daughter and son-in-law Sherri Lynn and Kevin Haines of Frizzellburg, son and daughter-in-law John C. III and Bonnie Schaeffer of Westminster, sisters Suellen Dell of Georgia, Sarah Bieber of Virginia, brother Frank Schaeffer of Westminster, and grandchildren Kandice Lagunas, Colton Haines, John Schaeffer IV, Michael Schaeffer, Haley Schaeffer, E. Faith Haines, Lydia Haines, and great-granddaughter Layla Lagunas.
He was predeceased by granddaughter Mabel Ruth Haines in 2003.
The family will receive friends at the Fletcher Funeral Home, 254 E. Main St., Westminster on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. and Monday at St. Benjamin's (Kriders) Lutheran Church, 700 Kriders cemetery Rd., Westminster, MD 21158 from 10 A.M. until time of service at 11.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 A.M. at St. Benjamin's (Kriders) Lutheran Church with his pastor, Rev. David S. Schafer, officiating. Interment in Krider's Cemetery.

Richard Hunter Allen, 73, of Beltsville
Richard Hunter Allen, 73, of Beltsville died Dec. 7, 2000, of lymphoma at his residence in Beltsville.
He was born April 10, 1927, in Washington. He was a mechanical engineer at Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Lab. He was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Beltsville and served in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1946.
Survivors include a daughter, Debra Lynn Larson; a son, Robert H.; a brother, Warren W.; a sister, Joan E. O'Bannon; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services were Saturday at Donald V. Borgwardt Funeral Home, Beltsville. Richard David, pastor, officiated.
Burial followed at Fort Lincoln Cemetery, Brentwood.

James Russell Burriss Sr., 72, of Capitol Heights died Dec. 5, 2000, at Greater Southeast Community Hospital in Southeast Washington.
He was born April 3, 1928, in Potomac. He was a truck driver and served in the U.S. Army from 1947 to 1948.
Survivors include his wife, Beatrice; two sons, James Jr. and Edward Buckler; a daughter, Bonnie Buckler; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services were Monday at Lee Funeral Home, Clinton.
Burial followed at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham.
Walter Deward "Pappy" Ward, 89, of LaPlata, died Dec. 11, 2000, at Southern Maryland Hospital Center in Clinton.
He was born Feb. 19, 1911, in Quitman, Miss. He was a retired Metropolitan (Washington) police officer. He was a 30-year member of the Washington Redskin Band and served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1932 to 1936.
Survivors include two sons, Walter D. Jr. and George Kenneth; a daughter, Nancy Lou Faulkner; a son-in-law, Roger Dale Faulkner; a daughter-in-law, Donna Schmidt War; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Services are at 11 a.m. today at First Baptist Church of Camp Springs, 6936 Allentown Road.
Burial will follow at Congressional Cemetery.
Hilda Blandford Underwood, 82, of Clinton, died Dec. 9, 2000, in Bryantown.
She was born Jan. 18, 1918, in Maryland. She was a real estate transfer supervisor for the Prince George's County government.
Survivors include five nieces, Mary Ellen Wells, Mary Frances Hall, Rose Marie Essex, Marie and Mary Hilda Underwood; and five nephews, Thomas Jr., William and John Blandford, Mitchell and Michael Underwood.
Services were Tuesday at St. Mary's Church in Piscataway.
Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Josephine Porter, 79, formerly of county
Joesphine ``Jo" Mead Porter, 79, died March 27, 2001, at Anne Arundel Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 28, 1921, in Oregon. She received a degree in sociology from San Jose University and worked as a school nurse for many years before she retired.
She was an active member in the Forestville Volunteer Fire Department Ladies' Auxiliary. She was past president of the Prince George's County Ladies Auxiliary and had been a member of the Baden VFD Auxiliary as well as serving on numerous committees on the state level. She served on the board of directors of the Pierce Damewood Chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Firefighters. She had also served as president of the local National Association of Retired Federal Employees Chapter.
Survivors include her sons, Arthur Bradley of Waldorf; David and wife Christine of Dunkirk; and Joeseph and wife Sharon of Port Charles, Fla. She is also survived by one daughter, Linda Trader and husband, Kenneth Sr. of Churchton; a sister, Kathryn Attix of Watsonville, Calif.; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services were held April 3 at Dunkirk Baptist Church. Burial took place at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham.
Beatrice Theresa Granzen, 81, died April 6, 2001.
She was born on May 13, 1919, in New Jersey. She was a homemaker.
She was affliated with the Catholic Church.
Survivors inclucde her children, Sharon, Bob, Christine, John, Barbara and Pamela; her grandchildren, J.C., Lisa, Holly, Amanda, Kimberely, Daniel, Taylor, Aubrey and Paige; and her sister Gertrude Gerken. She is also survived by many friends.
She was preceeded in death by her husband, Robert A. Sr.
Mass was held yesterday at 10 a.m. in St. Colunbia Catholic Church, 7804 Livingston Road, Oxon Hill.
Burial will be at Resurrection cemetery Mausoleum, Clinton.
