Charles H. Pogue, 72, FDA executive
Charles H. Pogue, 72, of Damascus, died July 31, 2001, at Casey House in Rockville.
Born Dec. 3, 1928, in Kentucky, he was the son of the late Naomi Wilson and Rudy.
Pogue graduated from Tulane University in New Orleans with a master's degree and served in the Army for two years. He worked as a director for the federal Food and Drug Administration.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia W.; daughters, Gail Perkins, Charlene Kimble and Teresa Magee; sons, Richard Eisenacher and Michael; sister, Ruth McFarland; brother, Fred; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services will be held at noon today at Muriel H. Barber Funeral Home, 21525 Laytonsville Road in Laytonsville, with visitation an hour before services.
Harry Benjamin Wheeler, 86, of Silver Spring
Harry Benjamin Wheeler of Silver Spring died Tuesday at Montgomery General Hospital. He was 86.
Born Feb. 29, 1916, in Pennsylvania, Wheeler was the son of the late Samuel Arthur and Ida Geib Wheeler. He worked as a linotype and monotype operator for a printing business.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria Haggerty Wheeler; two daughters, Rachel W. Jones, and her husband, Howard, of Damascus, and Judith W. Ashley of Gaithersburg; one son, Jonathan Clark Wheeler of Silver Spring; one stepson, Gilbert H. Ludwig of Pittsburgh; one sister, Helen Achenback of Pen Argyl, Pa.; and four grandchildren, Matthew and Victoria Jones of Damascus and Jennifer and Benjamin Ashley of Gaithersburg.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Muriel H. Barber Funeral Home, 21525 Laytonsville Road in Laytonsville.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 17740 Muncaster Road in Derwood. Interment will be June 24 at 2 p.m. at Cedar Hill cemetery in Mill Hall, Pa.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation.
The Rev. William J. Silk, 69, of Bethesda
The Rev. William J. Silk died of leukemia on Wednesday in the rectory of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Bethesda where he served as senior priest. He was 69.
Born in Yonkers, N.Y., he was the son of the late Robert J. and Anna M. Silk.Silk attended St. Charles College in Catonsville and St. Mary's Seminary in Baltimore. He served at St. Mary's Church in Rockville as an associate pastor from 1966 until 1975, when he was named pastor. He also served at St. John's in Clinton and St. Mary's Parish in Landover Hills.
For more than 30 years he has been active in ministry to the handicapped and has taught confirmation and religion classes for 40 years. Silk also served as a moderator of altar servers at the Sodality of Our Lady and was active in ministry to the elderly.
He is survived by two sisters, Patricia Harcourt and Jean Holland, and a brother, Robert W. Silk, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Interment was at Gate of Heaven cemetery and memorial contributions may be made in his name to Our Lady of Lourdes at 7500 Pearl St., Bethesda, MD 20814.
Lula S. Bush
Lula Satoria Bush, 103, formerly of 904 Mulberry Ave., Hagerstown, died Thursday, March 30, 2000, at Fahrney-Keedy Home in Boonsboro.
Born Oct. 2, 1896, in Mount Lena, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Jennie Foltz Funk.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Aaron Repp, in 1943 and her second husband, James H. Bush, in 1994.
She was employed by Leiter Brothers for 18 years, retiring in 1961.
She was a member of Hagerstown Church of the Brethren.
She is survived by four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. in Hagerstown. The Rev. Dean M. Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

Helen E. Fish
FREDERICK, Md. - Helen Elizabeth Fish, 78, of FF101 Waverly Drive and formerly of Knoxville, Md., died Thursday, March 30, 2000, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born July 6, 1921, in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late Harry M. and Jessie Moore Harrison.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry E. Fish.
She was a Lutheran.
She is survived by four daughters, Carole Barnes of Hagerstown, Helen Day and Nellie Fish, both of Frederick and Linda Moormon of Tennessee; three sons, Thomas Olden of Arkansas, Kendall Fish of Waldorf, Md., and William Fish of Brentwood, Md.; 20 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Michael E. Fish.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at John T. Williams Funeral Home, 100 Petersville Road in Brunswick, Md. The Rev. Donald Webb will officiate.

Katharine M. Hennesy
HALFWAY - Katharine McKee Hennesy, 79, of 10900 Allen Ave., died Friday, March 31, 2000, at her home.
Born in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late William and Dora Fiery McKee.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack S. Hennesy.
She was a 1938 graduate of Hagerstown High School. She was a member of the first graduating class of Hagerstown Business College.
She worked as a research surveyor for Johns Hopkins Research Center of Hagerstown until her retirement.
She was a member of Church of Holy Trinity in Halfway.
She is survived by a daughter, Ann McNew of Halfway; a son, H. Michael Hennesy of Hagerstown; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia LaMar, and a brother, William McKee.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St. in Williamsport. The Rev. David F. Schlicher will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Williamsport.
Visitation will be Monday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
The family requests the omission of flowers.

Mary A. Fox
SABILLASVILLE, Md. - Mary Alice Fox, 85, of 6315 Brown's Quarry Road, died Friday, March 31, 2000, at Beverly Health Care in Gettysburg, Pa., where she was a resident.
Born Feb. 21, 1915, in Foxville, Md., she was the daughter of the late Victor J. and Bertha M. Hoover Brown.
She retired from Freeman Shoe Co. of Emmitsburg, Md., in 1980.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Glenn E. Fox; six children, Alice Flaughter, Thomas Fox and James Fox, all of Thurmont, Md., Charles Fox of Cascade, Maurice Fox of Sabillasville and Judy Harbaugh of Fairfield, Pa.; three sisters, Irene Flaugher, Louise Bittner and Lydia Forrest, all of Sabillasville; 19 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Richard Earl Fox and Melvin Eugene Fox.
Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Thurmont Funeral Home of Robert E. Dailey and Son, 615 E. Main St. The Rev. Lloyd Hahn will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Moriah cemetery in Foxville.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will open at 1 p.m.
