Alpha L. Hall
CLERMONT, Fla. - Alpha Leora Hall, 95, of 13549 Oak Knoll Road, died Monday, May 8, 2000.
She was born in Tishomingo County, Miss.
She retired as a drugstore clerk.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Clermont.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary H. Carpenter of Encino, Calif. and Hildred H. Lee of Clermont; a son, Dr. Wyman E. Hall of Charles Town, W.Va.; two sisters, Jewel Bullard of Iuka, Miss. and Mona Hamlin of Nashville, Tenn.; two brothers, Royal N. Gober of Grenada, Miss. and Claudis Gober of Iuka ; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Clermont. Pastor Danny Davis will officiate.
The family will receive friends today from 5 to 7 p.m. at Becker Funeral Home in Clermont. Burial will be in Osceola Memory Gardens in Kissimmee, Fla.
Ruth G. Cassidy
Ruth G. Newby Cassidy, 80, of 80 Devonshire Road, Hagerstown, died Monday, Dec. 27, 1999, at Memorial Hospital West Volusia in DeLand, Fla.
Born Dec. 3, 1919, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late John Luther and Mary Elizabeth McNamee Long.
Her husband, Francis L. Cassidy, died in 1992.
She was a Protestant.
She was a member of Dixon Troxell Post 211 Funkstown American Legion Auxiliary; and a volunteer at Newton D. Baker Veterans Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.
She is survived by one daughter, Linda C. McCormick of DeLand; one son, Randy E. Cassidy of Newark, Del.; one sister, Helen M. Winters of Hagerstown; two brothers, Guy W. Long of Waynesboro, Pa., and Thomas E. Long of Hagerstown; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister and seven brothers.
Services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Thomas E. Young Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m.
Grace M. McKnight
BRUNSWICK, Md. - Grace Margaret McKnight, 86, of 505 East A St., died Tuesday, May 9, 2000, at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick, Md.
Born Jan. 6, 1914, in Littlestown, Pa., she was raised by the late Ada Taylor.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Edgar L. Montgomery and Richard "Mutt" L. McKnight.
She worked in the Brunswick area as a waitress at the Eagles Club and American Legion.
She was of the Baptist faith.
She was a member of Ladies Auxiliary of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1136; Steadman-Keenan Post 96 American Legion; and Brunswick Volunteer Ambulance Co.
She is survived by three sons, Richard H. McKnight and Franklin L. McKnight, both of Frederick, and James C. McKnight of Jefferson, Md.; three grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at John T. Williams Funeral Home, 100 Petersville Road in Brunswick. The Rev. Elsie May McKenney will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Frederick, Md.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will open at 9 a.m.
D. Pauline Lowe
KEEDYSVILLE - D. Pauline Lowe, 81, of 99 N. Main St., died Wednesday, May 10, 2000, at Reeders Memorial Home in Boonsboro.
Born Oct. 13, 1918, in Keedysville, she was the daughter of the late Lester L. and Pearl Knode Hines.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Benjamin Lowe, in 1997.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Keedysville, had been a Sunday school treasurer and church statistician.
She was a member of Pythian Sisters in Keedysville.
She is survived by a daughter, Carol A. Jordan of Keedysville; a son, Terry A. Lowe of Frederick, Md.; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Leon L. Hines.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro. The Rev. Eleanor S. Doub will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery in Keedysville.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Frances M. Hopp
Frances Mary Hopp, 80, of 851 Jefferson Blvd., Hagerstown, died Wednesday, May 10, 2000, at her home.
Born May 1, 1920, in Mapleville, Md., she was the daughter of the late Welty Daniel and Cora Mae Smith Martz.
She was a 1940 graduate of Boonsboro High School.
She was employed by Interwoven; and retired in 1982 from Fairchild Aircraft after 30 years.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hagerstown and the Sodality.
She was a member of Senior Bowling League; and AARP.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Bernard A. Hopp; two sons, Anthony B. Hopp of Menominee, Mich. and Larry P. Hopp of Hagerstown; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; an aunt; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Faye DeVore.
Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro. The Rev. Harold Ebersole will officiate. Burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery.
There will be no viewing; however, the family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family requests the omission of flowers.

Alvin Frederick "Fred" Thumma Jr., 78, of 13846 Marsh Pike, Hagerstown, who died Monday, May 8, 2000, is survived by a sister, Peggy Ann Startzman of Baltimore.
Gary M. Sawyers
Gary Martin "Butch" Sawyers, 51, of 111 E. Baltimore St., Hagerstown, died Tuesday, May 9, 2000, at his home.
Born Sept. 6, 1948, in Frederick, Md., he was the son of Kyle D. Sawyers of North Carolina and Connie Harshman Sawyers Stitley of Frederick.
He had been employed for 10 years by Tony's Pizza in Hagerstown.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his stepfather, Charles Stitley of Frederick.
Graveside services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Mount Olivet cemetery in Frederick. Those wishing to attend may assemble in front of Francis Scott Key Chapel by 1:50 p.m. to go to the gravesite. The Rev. Scott Philip Bellows will officiate.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
