Margaret E. Johnson
Margaret E. Johnson, 83, of George Street, Hagerstown, died Thursday, May 11, 2000, at Colton Villa Nursing Home in Hagerstown.
Born March 3, 1917, in Greencastle, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Frank M. and Margaret E. Deitrich Johnson.
She was a Protestant.
She worked as a waitress at Always Restaurant in Hagerstown, and later as a seamstress at GEM Garment Co. in Greencastle.
She is survived by two brothers, Richard L. Johnson and George Johnson, both of Greencastle, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Donald Johnson, and four brothers, Calvin Johnson, Paul Johnson, Glenn Johnson and Junior Johnson.
Services and burial will be at Shanks Church cemetery in Greencastle at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are by Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown.
Melvin F. Humphreys
Melvin F. Humphreys, 93, of Hagerstown and formerly of Sykesville, Md., and Oakland, Md., died Friday, May 12, 2000, at Julia Manor Health Care Center, Hagerstown.
Born Sept. 6, 1906, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Harry F. and Blanche E. Getzdanner Humphreys.
He was a retired lineman for C&P Telephone Co.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Burial of his cremains will be held in Baltimore cemetery at a later date.
Arrangements are by Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland.
Naomi B. Shank
BOONSBORO - Naomi Bernice West Shank, 87, a resident of Reeders Memorial Home and formerly of Garlinger Avenue in Hagerstown, died Friday, May 12, 2000, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Jan. 13, 1913, in Waynesboro, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Emma West.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edgar Shank, in 1990.
She was a homemaker.
She attended Hagerstown Assembly of God.
She is survived by a daughter, Erna V. Beck of Sachse, Texas; a sister, Ester Rodgers of Williamsport; two grandsons, Tye Beck and Rodney Beck, both of Sachse; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Duffy and Virgie Shockey.
Services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro. The Revs. Walter Stuart and Kenneth Harris will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
Robert B. Crone
MIDDLETOWN, Md. - Robert Bowlus Crone, 83, of 6806 Burkittsville Road, died Saturday, May 13, 2000, at Frederick Memorial Hospital, Frederick, Md.
Born Feb. 2, 1917, in Middletown, he was the son of the late Samuel Grove and Annie S. Bowlus Crone.
His wife, Evelyn Sigler Crone, died Jan. 7, 2000.
He was a farmer and retired as a school bus driver with Frederick County Board of Education.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Middletown.
He is survived by two sisters, Fannie Babington of Walkersville, Md., and A. Marie Sigler of Middletown; a brother, Samuel Crone of Burkittsville; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Velma Thomas and Rebecca Belle Hendricks and two brothers, Stanley Crone and John Crone.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Locust Valley Bible Church, 1323 Marker Road, Middletown. The Rev. Curvin D. Stambaugh will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 32 E. Main St., Middletown, and Tuesday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the church. The funeral home will be open today from noon to 9 p.m.

Robert S. Martin Jr.
WESTMINSTER, Md. - Robert Seibert Martin Jr., 74, of Westminster, died Sunday, May 14, 2000, at Carroll County General Hospital.
Born March 6, 1926, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Robert Seibert Sr. and Dorothy Chaney Martin.
He was a graduate of Shepherd College and received his masters from Western Maryland College.
He taught school in Carroll County at Mount Airy School. He then went to Westminster High School, where he was vice principal and then at Hampstead-Manchester School, where he was acting principal. He retired in 1980 from Carroll County School Board Office. He was also a adjunct professor serving at Western Maryland College.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in World War II.
He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.
He was a member of Carroll County Retired Teachers Association.
He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Gloria Martin; two daughters, Barbara Hunter of Alexandria, Va., and Mary Bedford of Tallahassee, Fla.; a sister, Joan Kretsinger of Williamsport and seven grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster. The Rev. David B. Helfrich will officiate.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 p.m. until the time of the services.

Jody L. Miller
BOONSBORO - Jody Lynn Miller, 19, of 619 N. Main St., died Saturday, May 13, 2000, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Rt. 67 near Boonsboro.
Born Dec. 7, 1980, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of Gary Austin Miller of Frederick and Pamela Gwen Angle Miller of Boonsboro.
She was a 1998 graduate of Boonsboro High School.
She was an assistant pricing coordinator for Martin's Food Store on the Dual Highway, Hagerstown.
She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, Bakersville, Md.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by a sister, Jamey G. Miller of Boonsboro; a brother, Jason M. Miller of Boonsboro; maternal grandparents, Ira T. and Lorna G. Angle of Rohrersville; paternal grandmother, Martha M. Miller of Boonsboro; aunts, uncles, and three nephews.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Martin R. Miller.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Louis R. Emerick will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Rohrersville.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
