Ruby C. Britcher
Ruby C. Britcher, 93, of 1183 Luther Drive, Hagerstown, and formerly of 10736 Downsville Pike, died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at Ravenwood Lutheran Village.
Born Nov. 25, 1906, in Mapleville, Md., she was the daughter of the late Howard Thomas and Carrie Ethel Gaylor Stouffer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester J. Britcher, in 1966.
She was employed by Peoples Drug Store for 43 years, retiring in 1985.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
She was a member of AARP.
She is survived by a daughter, Phyllis Y. Meyers of Hagerstown; four grandchildren, R. Suzette Ungvarski of Baltimore, Michelle K. Shipley, L. Courtney Shipley and Ethan B. Shipley, all of Deerfield, Fla.; four great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Rest Haven Cemetery, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown. The Rev. Edward H. Heim will officiate.
There will be no visitation.
Arrangements are by Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, Hagerstown.
Herman S. Hawse Sr.
Herman Stacey Hawse Sr., 81, of 133 E. Franklin St., who died Monday, May 15, 2000, is survived by three daughters, Janet Smith of Singers Glen, Va., Marie Hawse of Hagerstown and Theresa Wegner of Bradenton.
James W. Kirby Sr.
James William "Bunnie" Kirby Sr., 87, of 459 McDowell Ave., and formerly of Salem Avenue and Woodhaven Drive, who died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Claudine H. Long Kirby, in 1989. He is survived by two daughters, Penny Dawson and Linda L. Mahone, both of Hagerstown.
Raymond E. Miller
Raymond E. "Pete" Miller, 80, of Bower Avenue, Hagerstown, died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Jan. 13, 1920, in Waynesboro, Pa., he was the son of the late Raymond Pierce and Blanche Etter Miller.
He retired from Pangborn Corp. after 44 years.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
He was a Protestant.
He was a member of Potomac Post 202 American Legion, Williamsport, and A.A.R.P.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Shank Miller; a daughter, Pat M. Clopper of Hagerstown; a granddaughter, Kelly L. Clopper of Hagerstown; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by five sisters.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport. The Rev. W. Gregory Martin will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open after 9 a.m.
Raymond L. Booth Sr.
BOONSBORO - Raymond Louis Booth Sr., 88, of Reeders Memorial Home, 141 S. Main St., died Saturday, May 13, 2000, at Reeders.
Born Sept. 8, 1911, in Brockton, Mass., he was the son of the late Louis and Frances Fisher Booth.
He retired in 1976 from Pile Drivers Union 2311 after 40 years.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.
He was a Protestant.
He was a member of VFW Post 482 of Forrestville, Md.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marie G. Schilling Booth; a daughter, Vilma Herbert of Dunkirk, Md.; three sons, Raymond L. Booth Jr. of Dumfries, Va., Barry L. Booth of Baeden, Md. and Robert Digulimio of Boonsboro; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro. The Rev. R. Thomas Fralin Jr. will officiate.
Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends Saturday at noon at the funeral home.
Leona A. Holmes
VENICE, Fla. - Leona Abshire "Hank" Holmes, 80, formerly of Hagerstown, died Wednesday, May 17, 2000, at her home at 1738 Valencia Drive in Venice.
She was born April, 20, 1920, in Martinsburg, W.Va.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George L. Holmes, in 1981.
She had been employed as a deputy tax collector for the Washington County Commissioners.
She was a member of Republican Club; and Grandale Sorority of Hagerstown.
She was a member of Venice Presbyterian Church in Venice.
She is survived by a sister, Gladys Mintzer of Baltimore; five nieces and nephews; and 12 great-nieces and great-nephews.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. in Hagerstown. The Rev. John W. Ailstock will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Carroll W. Wollard
Carroll Wesley Wollard, 79, of 833 Georgia Ave., Hagerstown, died Wednesday, May 17, 2000, at his home.
Born June 14, 1920, in Thurmont, Md., he was the son of the late Frank and Maude Wollard.
He retired from Western Maryland Railroad in 1981 after 42 years.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
He was a member of American Legion Post 42.
He is survived by his wife, Victoria Wollard; five daughters, Carol Jean Montgomery of Hagerstown, twins, Susan Branham of Clear Spring and Diana Rowland of Hagerstown, Frances Royce of Hagerstown and Christine Griffith of Lothian, Md.; two sons, Carroll Wollard II of Hagerstown and Jim Wollard of Williamsport; a brother, George Wollard of Lancaster, Pa.; 21 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; and a nephew.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Ann Wollard; a sister, Fannie Wollard; and four brothers, John Wollard, Maurice Wollard, Leonard Wollard and James Wollard.
Services will be Saturday at 9 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. in Hagerstown. The Rev. George A. Limmer will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, with a military service by Morris Frock Post 42.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
