Robert E. Keller
Robert Edward Keller, 84, of 39 E. North Ave., Hagerstown, died Monday, May 15, 2000, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Dec. 12, 1915, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Hubert Lee and Grace Belle Saum Keller.
His wife, Mariam Virginia Keller, died in 1996.
He was employed by the Wharf Restaurant.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of First Christian Church.
He played baseball with the Washington Senators farm team in Orlando, Fla., during the 1937 and 1938 seasons.
He is survived by a stepson, Bruce B. Elliott of Hagerstown; one brother, Ellsworth Keller of Winchester, Va.; one granddaughter, Michele K. Stierheim; one grandson, Jason B. Elliott; three great-grandsons; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Lois Keller, Louise Lookabaugh, Evelyn Keller and Thelma Rogers; and four brothers, Cecil Keller, Chester Keller, Earl Keller and Richard Keller.
Graveside services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery, 600 S. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Fred M. Harris will officiate.
There will be no visitation.

Raymond E. "Pete" Miller, 80, of Bower Avenue, Hagerstown, who died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ruth Mary Shank Miller.
Evelyn R. Maphis
Evelyn R. "Toady" Maphis, 72, of 430 Liberty St., Hagerstown, died Thursday, May 18, 2000, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Jan. 11, 1928, in Shepherdstown, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Gilbert E. and Edna Griffith Frye.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dalford Maphis, in 1962.
She was employed by E. J. Fennel for 30 years.
She was a former member of Shepherdstown Methodist Church.
She was a former member of Local 435; I.L.G.W.U.; acting vice-president of Maryland State and D.C. A.F.L.-C.I.O.; president of United Retirees Club of Hagerstown; and an officer C.O.P.E. director of Central Maryland Labor Council.
She is survived by a sister, Betty Maphis of Shenandoah Junction, W.Va.; two nieces; a nephew; a great-niece and a great-nephew.
Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. in Hagerstown. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery in Shepherdstown.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
Floyd D. Harrell Sr.
WILLIAMSPORT - Floyd Donald Harrell Sr., 71, of Williamsport, died Thursday, May 18, 2000, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Dec. 12, 1928, in Shepherdstown, W.Va., he was the son of the late William Luther and Sarah Catherine Palmer Harrell.
He was a self-employed farmer. He worked for Garden State Tanning in the Hyde Department for 17 years; and was a self-employed school bus driver for 26 years. He retired in 1994.
He attended Williamsport Assembly of God Church.
He was a member of Antique Tractor Club of Washington County.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Alice Rayetta Davis Harrell; nine daughters, Linda M. Sours, Darlene K. Stone, Deborah A. Charlton and Joyce L. Feigley, all of Hagerstown, Anna J. Harsh, Carolyn L. Harrell and Wanda S. Harrell, all of Williamsport, Thelma M. Bowers of Boonsboro and Vickie L. Harrell of Falling Waters, W.Va.; a son, Floyd D. Harrell Jr. of Williamsport; two sisters, Maxine Chaney of Williamsport and Geniva Hollenshead of Sharpsburg; a brother, Carney Harrell of Williamsport; 10 grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Harrell; a sister, Florence Harrell; and a brother, George Harrell.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St. in Williamsport. The Rev. Dan Jordan will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Williamsport.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will open at 9 a.m.

Charles W. Resh
CUMBERLAND, Md. - Charles William "Bill" Resh, 59, of Cumberland, died Thursday, May 18, 2000, at his home.
Born Feb. 22, 1941, in Hagerstown, he was the son of C.W. Resh Sr. of Hagerstown and the late Helen M. Rubeck Resh.
He retired in 1987 from Kelly-Springfield Tire Co.
He served in the U.S. Air Force.
He was a member of Fort Cumberland Masonic Lodge 211 A.F. & A.M.; and Cresaptown Eagles 2883.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, H. May Shaffer Resh; three sons, C. W. Resh III and Robert A. Resh, both of Hagerstown, and Douglas L. Resh of Cumberland; a sister, Arlene K. Resh of Hagerstown; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert E. Resh.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Highway in LaVale, Md. The Revs. Harold R. McClay Jr. and Leon Yoder will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Cresaptown Eagles 2883 will conduct services at 7 p.m. and Fort Cumberland Lodge 211 will conduct Masonic services at 7:30 p.m.

Jay W. Smith
Jay Warren Smith, 69, of Hagerstown, died Wednesday, May 17, 2000, at his home.
Born March 20, 1931, in Security, Md., he was the son of the late David Carl and Mary Elizabeth Lyday Smith.
He was a 1949 graduate of Hagerstown High School.
He was an employee of Lonestar Cement Co., retiring in 1982.
He was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Lappans Crossroads.
He was a former member of Moose Lodge 212; and Eagles Club Inc. of Waynesboro.
He was a volunteer coach for Youth Ten Pin Bowling Program at Dual Lanes in Hagerstown. He coached and managed Pony League baseball teams.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores "Dee" Myers Smith, whom he married
Feb. 11, 1951; three sons, Shelton W. Smith of Fairplay and Todd C. Smith and David W. Curry, both of Hagerstown; a brother, Philip N. Smith of Palm Coast, Fla.; five grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Jayne Applegate; and three brothers, D. Lewis Smith, C. Olen Smith and W. Gordon Smith.
A graveside service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Rest Haven cemetery in Hagerstown. The Revs. Anne O. Weatherholt and William Kersting will officiate.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North in Hagerstown.
