Mary Frances O'Connell
EMMITSBURG, Md. - Sister Mary Frances O'Connell, D.C., of Emmitsburg and formerly of Hagerstown, died Thursday, May 18, 2000.
She was born in 1908 in Alabama.
She entered Daughters of Charity in 1933.
She spent 59 years as a teacher in high schools and St. Joseph College in Emmitsburg.
She is survived by a brother, W. Willson O'Connell of Hagerstown, four nieces and six nephews.
Burial will be Monday in Emmitsburg.
Leo T. LaBell
Leo Thomas LaBell, 80, of Hagerstown, died Thursday, May 18, 2000, at his home.
Born Nov. 11, 1919, in New York, he was the son of the late Francis and Mary Gambardella LaBell.
He attended New York University.
He was general manager of Fairchild/Hiller Aircraft Corporation, working in Hagerstown from 1966 to 1981.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1942 to 1945.
He was a member of BPO Elks Lodge 378, Eagles Club of Waynesboro, Pa., and American Legion Morris Frock Post 42.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lorraine M. LaBell; two daughters, Karen Lee LaBell of Lovettsville, Va., and Mary Grace LaBell of Hagerstown; a son, Douglas Scott LaBell of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.; and a grandson.
He was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.
Memorial services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at First Christian Church, 1345 Potomac Ave. in Hagerstown. The Rev. Fred M. Harris will officiate.
There will be no viewing or visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Crossroads Activities Center for the Handicapped, 12919 Salem Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21740.

Chessie F. Fox
Chessie Faye Fox, 26, of 1029 Main Ave., Hagerstown, died Friday, May 19, 2000, at her home.
Born Sept. 7, 1973, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of Charles L. Fox of Waynesboro, Pa., and Carolyn Faye Fazenbaker Dawson of Hagerstown.
She attended Job Development Center in Smithsburg.
She attended First Assembly of God Church in Greencastle, Pa.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by a brother, Curt L. Fox of Hagerstown; her stepmother, Nancy L. Fox of Waynesboro; her stepfather, William E. Dawson of Hagerstown; three stepsisters, Anita Seville and Leslee Printz, both of St. Thomas, Pa., and Tonya Hoover of Waynesboro; maternal grandparents, Charles and Faye Fazenbaker of Maugansville; two nieces; three step-nieces; three step-nephews; and aunts and uncles.
Memorial services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at the home of Curt and Melissa Fox, 13516 Pennsylvania Ave. in Hagerstown. The Rev. Dan Jordan will officiate.
The family will receive friends Monday immediately following the service.

Walter M. Damasiewicz Jr.
Walter Michael Damasiewicz Jr., 65, of 909 Marion St., Hagerstown, died Friday, May 19, 2000, at his home.
Born Dec. 12, 1934, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Walter M. and Helen Nowak Damasiewicz.
He was a 1956 graduate of the University of Maryland.
He was employed by Eakle's Drug Store for 24 years and Chatkins Drug Store.
He was a member of the Maryland Pharmaceutical Association, the American Pharmaceutical Association and the Alumni Association of Maryland University.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Damasiewicz; two daughters, Linda Sagal of Hagerstown and Leslie Bussard of Clear Spring; five sons, Scott Damasiewicz of Baltimore, Michael Damasiewicz of Lilburn, Ga., Walter G. Damasiewicz of San Antonio, Texas, Jeffrey Damasiewicz of Cosmopolous, W.Va., and Philip Damasiewicz of Clear Spring; three sisters, Leona McCabe, Marlene Rogers and Marie Rykiel, all of Baltimore; and 12 grandchildren.
Memorial services will be Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. in Hagerstown. The Rev. Stephen D. Robison will officiate.
Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
The family will receive friends Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Linda L. Schildt
Linda L. Schildt, 21, of 50 Rochester Place, Hagerstown, died unexpectedly Friday, May 19, 2000, at her home.
Born Dec. 6, 1978, in Chambersburg, Pa., she was the daughter of Terry L. Schildt of Mercersburg, Pa., and Sharon Tonseth Schildt of Hagerstown.
She had attended James Buchanan High School.
She was last employed at Ames Department Store as a clerk.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by a son, Jacob Bennett of Hagerstown; two sisters, Sara L. Schildt and Dorothy L. Schildt, both of Hagerstown; a brother, Terry A. Schildt of Hagerstown; two step-sisters, Heather Keller of Carlisle, Pa. and Tesla McCullough of Mercersburg; paternal grandmother, Dorothy Schildt of Greencastle, Pa.; maternal grandparents, Tom and Marian Tonseth of Hagerstown and paternal great-grandmother, Rhoda Wolford of Greencastle.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home Inc., 47 N. Park Ave., Mercersburg. The Rev. Roy E. Brake Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Mercersburg.
Viewing will be Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Ignatius S. Drury Jr.
Ignatius Samuel "Shorty" Drury Jr., 76, of 621 Frederick St., Hagerstown, died Friday, May 19, 2000, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Sept. 6, 1923, in Clear Spring, he was the son of the late Ignatius S. Sr. and Annie Virginia Henson Drury.
His first wife, Catherine Maxine Drury, died in 1979.
He was formerly employed by Beachley Furniture Co., Mack Trucks and Martin's Food.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
He was a member of V.F.W. Post 1936, Hagerstown.
He is survived by his second wife, Shari D. Cline Drury; three daughters, Margie A. Stoner of Sharpsburg, Catherine M. Young of Hagerstown and Darlene L. Drury at home; two sons, Thomas R. Drury Sr. of Hagerstown and Jeffrey W. Gorman of Mercersburg, Pa.; two sisters, Louise Mumma and Mary Barr, both of Hagerstown; three brothers, Daniel Drury and Thomas Drury, both of Hagerstown and Carl Drury of Clear Spring; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Ignatius Samuel Drury III; four sisters, Susanna Mills, Prudence Irvin, Sally Henson, and Jo Marie Myers; a half-sister, Mae Akusky; two brothers, General Jackson George Drury and Martin Drury.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg. The Rev. Ed Heim will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown, with military services.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
