Mary D. Staley
Mary Dorothy "Dot" Staley, 86, of 807 Linwood Road, Hagerstown, died Saturday, April 1, 2000, at Williamsport Nursing Home, Williamsport.
Born May 14, 1913, in Frederick County, Md., she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Dora E. Kramer Phillips.
Her husband, John Edward Staley Jr., died in 1976.
She was employed with Washington County Schools for 41 years as a crossing guard and she was a security guard at King's.
She was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church.
She was a member of Funkstown American Legion Post 211 Auxiliary and Parent Teachers Association.
She is survived by a daughter, Sue Staley of Hagerstown; a son, John E. Staley Jr. of Hagerstown; a sister, Betty Mantei of Newport, Wash.; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Stephen D. Robinson will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

A. Maxine Rudy
FREDERICK, Md. - A. Maxine Rudy, 84, of 115 W. Fourth St., died Sunday, April 2, 2000, at Northhampton Manor Nursing Home.
Born Oct. 28, 1915, in Middletown, Md., she was the daughter of the late Paul S. and Alice Wiles Rudy.
She was employed as a waitress at Francis Scott Hotel in Frederick until her retirement.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Middletown.
She is survived by three sisters, Charlotte Ahalt and Orpha Zimmerman, both of Frederick, and Ruth May of Norwich, N.Y.; two nieces and three nephews.
Services will be private. Burial will be in Lutheran cemetery in Middletown.
Arrangements are by Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home in Middletown.
Mildred V. Keller
SPRING HILL, Fla. - Mildred Virginia "Mickie" Keller, 79, of 9350 Eldridge Road, died Saturday, April 1, 2000, at Evergreen Woods Health Care Center, Spring Hill.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. Alan W. Robinson will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Verona J. Hurley
Verona J. Hurley, 70, of Hagerstown, died Sunday, April 2, 2000, at Western Maryland Hospital Center.
Born Oct. 3, 1929, in Blue Mountain near Smithsburg, she was the daughter of the late John L. and Naomi A. Ahalt Hahn.
She is survived by four sisters, Lanono A. Mong and Wanda L. Stitely, both of Waynesboro, Pa., Yvonne Schliem of Beloit, Wis., and Omega M. Bloom of Forest Hill, Md.; one brother, Jay W. Hahn of Ballwin, Mo.; nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Davis Funeral Home, 12525 Bradbury Ave., Smithsburg. The Rev. John W. Schildt will officiate. Burial will be in Bethel cemetery in Cascade.
The family will receive friends Wednesday at the funeral home one hour prior to services.
Catherine E. Myers
CARLSBAD, Calif. - Catherine Elizabeth French Myers, 83, formerly of Hagerstown, died Tuesday, March 28, 2000, at her home in Sea Gate Village, Carlsbad.
Born Oct. 26, 1916, she was the daughter of the late James Riley and Carrie Catherine Toms French.
She was a homemaker and had been employed at Fairchild Aircraft, Hagerstown, during World War II. She retired in 1951.
She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church prior to moving to California in 1986.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Robert Elwood Myers; two daughters, Jeanne Elizabeth Harbaugh of Hagerstown and Roberta Catherine Burns of San Diego; two sons, Robert Elwood Myers Jr. and John Warren Myers, both of Columbia, Md.; five sisters, Hilda Myers and Shirley Cline, both of Williamsport, Mildred French of Fort Ashby, W.Va., Mary Ruth Conway of Rawlings, Md., and Doris Horine of Hagerstown; six brothers, Donald French, Paul French, and Harold French, all of Hagerstown, Fred French, Wayne French and Glenwood French, all of Williamsport; 23 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Leon French.
Memorial services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Salem Reformed Church United Church of Christ, Salem Church Road, Hagerstown. The Rev. J. Clark Hayes will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
There will be no viewing.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 101 E. Baltimore St., Hagerstown, MD 21740 or to a charity of one's choice.
Virginia K. Hoover
Virginia Katherine Hoover, 87, of 863 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, died Sunday, April 2, 2000, at her home.
Born Sept. 20, 1912, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Bessie Mae Hoffman.
She was retired from Reisner Manufacturing, Hagerstown.
She was a member of St. Matthew's United Methodist Church, Hagerstown.
She is survived by a brother, James L. Hoover of Hagerstown; four nieces, Joyce A. Weaver of Fayetteville, Pa., Connie L. Stotelmyer of Martinsburg, W.Va., Linda K. Shilling of Hagerstown, and Patrica M. Hoover of Frederick, Md.; two nephews, Roy A. Hoover of Fairplay and Steven W. Hoover of Hagerstown; two great-nieces and two great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Madeline Brown and Ciettia Miller and a brother, William Lester Hoover.
Funeral services and burial will be private.
There will be no viewing or visitation.

Dorothy B. Brubaker
EWING TOWNSHIP, N.J. - Dorothy Bonnie Bingham Brubaker, 87, of Ewing Township, died Saturday, April 1, 2000, at Capital Health Systems at Fuld, Trenton, N.J.
She was born in Weverton, Md., and was the daughter of the late David Howie and Edith Hightman Bingham.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Claude A. Brubaker, who served as pastor of Wildwood (Mount Zion) Baptist Church, Bethesda, Md., for 37 years.
She was a graduate of Brunswick High School, Brunswick, Md., Frostburg Normal School and received her bachelor's degree from Shepherd College.
She taught elementary school at Brownsville, Md., and was an elementary teacher and principal at Yarrowsburg, Md.
Along with her late husband, she helped establish Deltona Lakes Baptist Church in Deltona, Fla.
She is survived by a sister, Howie B. Kiser of West Trenton, N.J.; a niece, A. Melissa Kiser; a great-nephew; a step-granddaughter; a step-grandson and several cousins.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Wildwood Baptist Church, Bethesda. The Rev. David Sayne will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, Bethesda.
Visitation will be on Friday from noon to 1 p.m. at the church.
