Junior R. Fitz
Junior R. Fitz, 77, formerly of 241 S. Prospect St., died Wednesday, April 5, 2000, at Western Maryland Hospital Center.
Born March 5, 1923, in Blue Ridge Summit, Pa., he was the son of the late Dora Carson.
He was a farmer.
He participated in gardening therapy with Oak Ridge Garden Club of Halfway.
He is survived by his brother, Ray Fitz of Waynesboro, Pa.; nieces and nephews.
Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Russell E. Huffman Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Margaret S. Moser
Margaret Susan Moser, 88, of 50 E. Lincoln Ave., and formerly of Waynesboro, Pa., died Tuesday, April 4, at Homewood Retirement Center in Williamsport.
Born July 3, 1911, in Herbert, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Edgar C. and Nellie Anna Stoner Rachor.
Her husband, John W. Moser, died Aug. 1, 1996. They were married
May 6, 1934.
She was a 1930 graduate of Hagerstown High School.
She was employed by Western Maryland Railway in Hagerstown; Fisher's Pharmacy, and Poole's Variety Store in Halfway.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Halfway.
She was a member of the Garden Club of Halfway and a volunteer with Washington County Hospital Auxiliary.
She is survived by two sons, John W. Moser Jr. of West Lafayette, Ind., and Joseph B. Moser of Sharpsburg; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A requiem Mass will be celebrated Friday at 9 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 17618 Virginia Ave., Hagerstown. The Rev. Christopher Moore will be celebrant. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church Friday at 8 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 17618 Virginia Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21740; or to Benevolent Fund of Homewood Retirement Center, 16505 Virginia Ave., Williamsport, MD 21795.

Carroll E. Gladhill
SABILLASVILLE, Md. - Carroll E. Gladhill, 77, of 5801 Fort Ritchie Road, died Tuesday, April 4, 2000, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Aug. 8, 1922, in Adams County, Pa., he was the son of the late Ernest G. and Mary M. McKissick Gladhill.
He attended school in the Harbaugh Valley, Pa. area.
He worked in maintenance for 29 years at Victor Cullen Center in Sabillasville, Md., retiring in 1975.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater.
He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Sabillasville.
He is survived by his wife, Betty L. Fahnestock Gladhill, whom he married
Sept. 25, 1948; three daughters, Deborah Harrison of Cascade, Susan Seiferd of Fairfield, Pa. and Mary Bowman of Rocky Ridge, Md.; three sons, Robert Gladhill of Gettysburg, Pa., David Galdhill and Barry Galdhill, both of Cascade; two sisters, Helen Pryor and Vada Brown, both of Sabillasville; two brothers, Sheridan Gladhill and Lawrence Gladhill, both of Smithsburg; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; cousins; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Burial will be in Jacob's Church cemetery in Adams County.

Carolyn J. Bachtell
SMITHSBURG - Carolyn Jean Kendall Bachtell, 58, of 22232 Cave Hill Road, died Wednesday, April 5, 2000, at her home.
Born Dec. 4, 1941, in Smithsburg, she was the daughter of Evelyn Lucille Hawbaker Kendal of Smithsburg and the late Chester Ellsworth Kendall.
She was a 1959 graduate of Smithsburg High School.
She was employed from 1962 to 1965 at Vitro Laboratories in Silver Spring, Md.
She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, and served as pianist and organist for 44 years.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 41 years, Ronald Elwood Bachtell Sr.; two daughters, Nicole Maria Bachtell of Falls Church, Va. and RuAnne Lea Salvatore of Smithsburg; a son, Ronald E. Bachtell II of Hagerstown; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Floyd J. Kendal.
Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown. The Revs. Loyal H. Vanderveer and Mark C. Mooney will officiate. Burial will be in Smithsburg Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Margaret J. Smoke
Margaret Jane Smoke, 77, of 12 Walnut Towers, Hagerstown, died Wednesday, April 5, 2000, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Aug. 25, 1922, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late James Frederick and Ruby Grace Alexander Feigley.
Her husband, Harold Edward Harper, died in 1971.
She was formerly employed with E.J. Fennel.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
She is survived by one son, Rick Harper of Hagerstown; four sisters, Betty Delauter, Charlotte Sprecher, and Rachel Shoemaker, all of Hagerstown, and Nancy Baker of Boonsboro; and four brothers, Harold Feigley of Smithsburg, Ronald Feigley of Leitersburg, Kenneth Feigley of Hagerstown, and Elwood Feigley of Milwaukee.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Paul Feigley.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Robert S. Barton will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.
