Thelma A. Wetzel
Thelma Angelina Wetzel, 69, of 19622 Old Forge Road, Hagerstown, died Friday, April 7, 2000, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Jan. 18, 1931, in Fiddlersburg, Md., she was the daughter of the late Roy Cleveland and Sadie Josephine Rodgers Wetzel.
She was employed by Hagerstown Shoe Co. for 38 years.
She was a Protestant.
She is survived by two sisters, Edna Wetzel and Ruth McManus, both of Hagerstown, and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Leola Domer and Catherine Guessford, and five brothers, Paul Wetzel, Earl Wetzel, Raymond Wetzel, Ralph Wetzel and Russell Wetzel.
Services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
There will be no viewing.
The family requests the omission of flowers.
Arrangements are by Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. in Hagerstown.
Doris M. Rutherford
BOONSBORO - Doris May "Dot" Stotler Rutherford, 74, of 19826 Marcia Court, died Friday, April 7, 2000, at her home.
Born May 16, 1925, in Leitersburg, she was the daughter of the late Charles L. and Anna Mary Rudisill Stotler.
She retired from Red Byrd Restaurant in Keedysville after 20 years of service. She worked for Dixie-Narco Company for 20 years.
She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Keedysville.
She is survived by her daughter, Debra D. Moser of Boonsboro; her caretaker, son-in-law Dawson Moser of Boonsboro; three sisters, Loraine Hargett of Frederick, Md., Audrey Lowery of Pierponte, Ohio, and Betty Flook of Boonsboro; seven brothers, Charles Stotler of Charles Town, W.Va., William Stotler of Tilghmanton, Md., George Stotler of Fairplay, Joseph Stotler of Boonsboro, Howard Stotler of Keedysville, Harold Stotler of Hagerstown and Clyde Stotler of Boonsboro; a granddaughter; and a grandson.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Stotler, and three brothers, Richard Stotler, Edgar Stotler and Robert Stotler.
Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro. The Rev. Kenneth J. Fizer Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery in Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will open at 1 p.m.

William T. Presgraves Sr.
William T. "Sarge" Presgraves Sr., 83, of 80 E. Irvin Ave., Hagerstown, died Thursday, April 6, 2000, at Washington County Hospital.
Born March 20, 1917, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Charles C. and Myrtle V. Golden Presgraves.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Irene L. Mason Presgraves.
He worked in final assembly at Pangborn Corp. for 26 years, retiring in 1981.
He served in the U.S. Army. He was a Pearl Harbor survivor in World War II, and received the Bronze Star for his duty in the Vietnam War.
He was a member of American Legion Post 42, The Last Man's Club and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1936.
He is survived by two sons, William T. Presgraves Jr. of Keedysville and Donald W. Presgraves of Hagerstown; a sister, Winnie Munson of Hagerstown; a brother, James O. Presgraves of Hagerstown; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. The Rev. Robert C. Lehman will officiate.

John W. Crout
MOUNT AIRY, Md. - John Wilbur Crout, 70, of Mount Airy, died Friday, April 7, 2000, at his home.
Born Sept. 11, 1929, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late John Henry and Kathryn Josephine Freeze Crout.
He was a retired Maryland State Police trooper and served out of the Westminster Barrack for 24 years.
He was a member and past commander of VFW Post 10076 of Mount Airy and a member of American Legion Post 191 of Mount Airy, Maryland State Police Alumni Association, Old Timers of the Westminster MSP, Firehouse 5+7 Club, Mount Airy 55+ Club, Mount Airy Senior Center Coffee Clatch and Roy Rogers Coffee Clatch.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Lee Baker Crout; two children, Robin Kark of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Terry Jo Harshman of New Windsor, Md.; a stepson, Glenn Riley of South Bay Australia; a sister, Joan Hodgson; three grandchildren; a great-grandson; three step-grandsons; and a nephew.
Services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd. in Mount Airy. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Henry C. Wallech
Henry Cheston "Bo" Wallech, 48, of 222 Norway Ave., Hagerstown, died Thursday, April 6, 2000, in Pennsylvania.
Born Jan. 15, 1952, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Maurice Wilbur Sr. and Margaret Louise Rowe Wallech.
He was employed by Browning-Ferris Industries for 29 years.
He attended Grace United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Clara M. Olden Wallech; two brothers, Maurice W. Wallech Jr. and Ronald E. Wallech Sr., both of Hagerstown; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. in Hagerstown. The Revs. Susan Hallager and Daris Ford will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Jean L. Goddard
GREENWICH, Conn. - Jean Lane Goddard, 72, a resident of Greenwich for almost 50 years, died March 23, at Greenwich Hospital.
Stanhope Scott Goddard of Greenwich, her husband, said the cause of death was a massive stroke.
Known as "Chris," Mrs. Goddard's major interests were religion, music, sports and international events; and she was involved in community and club affairs.
Her father was the late Maryland Gov. William Preston Lane Jr.
She and her husband were married
in June 1950 at Government House in Annapolis, Md., and settled in Greenwich.
She was a member of Christ Church Greenwich, but left that church in 1959 and became a member of St. Barnabas Church, where she was a lay reader, acted as a chalice bearer, assisted in weekly mailings and served on the gardening crew, among other duties.
Mr. and Mrs. Goddard were co-chairmen of District 8 for the Greenwich Community Chest in 1956, and, in 1958, she assisted her husband when he was chairman of the Greenwich Health Association.
She also played golf and tennis and twice won the Holleran golf trophy at the Round Hill Club. For a short time, she was a member of the Hortulus garden club.
Her interest in politics never wavered and, on occasion, she took her sons to Washington to meet members of Congress. In recent years, she served as an assistant registrar of voters at polling places in Greenwich.
Born June 22, 1927, in Hagerstown, she was a daughter of the late Gov. Lane and the late Dorothy Byron Lane. She attended Greenwood School in Ruxton, Md., and graduated from Westover School in Waterbury in 1945. In 1949, she received a bachelor's degree in political science from Vassar College.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Goddard is survived by three sons, S. Scott Goddard III of Boulder, Colo., Preston Lane Goddard of West Norwalk and Edward Quinby Goddard of Bethesda, Md.; a sister, Dorothy Lane Campbell of Falmouth, Mass.; and six grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. April 15 at St. Barnabas Church, with the Rev. Richard Van Wely and the Rev. Worthington Campbell, her brother-in-law, officiating.
Donations may be made in her memory to St. Barnabas Church, 954 Lake Ave.; or to Carver Center, c/o St. Barnabas Church.
