JOHN W. SELSEK
John Walter Selsek, 59, Bayard, W.Va., died Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
Born March 12, 1942, in Henry, W.Va.,he was a son of the late John F. and Willia (Rotruck) Selsek. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Franklin H. Selsek.
He was a 1960 graduate of Bayard High School, where he was active in sports, and earned the West Virginia Golden Horse Shoe Award.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and an employee of Dominion Generation at the Mt. Storm Power Station for 34 years. During his career, he held various positions including journeyman and welder, and retired as a CBM Equipment Specialist on July 1, 2000.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon (Witt) Selsek, whom he married June 18, 1983, and one brother, James A. Collette, Mt. Storm.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today, Thursday. A service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, April 20, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Paul Smith officiating. Interment will be in the Bayard Cemetery.
RUBY J. HANSFORD
Ruby J. Hansford, 100, Belle Mead, N.J., formerly of Steyer, died Sunday, April 15, 2001, at Princeton (N.J.) Hospital.
Born Feb. 12, 1901, in Steyer, she was the daughter of the late John T. and Mary (Bogar) Steyer. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Waymond Hansford.
She worked for many years as a clerk at Kresky's Five & Ten in Washington, D.C.
Survivors include two sons, Glenn Hansford, Belle Mead, and Dennis Hansford, Middletown; two daughters, Helen Piehler, Seattle, Wash., and Mildred Bild, Albuquerque, N.M.; and 34 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A service was conductd earlier today, April 19, at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland. Interment was in the White Church Cemetery.
REGINA T. GLASS
Regina Theresa Glass, 72, Friendsville, died Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at CuppettWeeks Nursing Home, Oakland.
Born Sept. 17, 1928, in Colonial Beach, Va., she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Lula Elizabeth (Pound) Davis. She was also preceded in death by one son, Steven Glass.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include five children, James Thomas, Grantsville, Margaret Bradeson, New Bern, N.C., Charles Thomas, Frostburg, Richard Thomas, Augusta, W.Va., and Michael Thomas, Friendsville; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, 943 Second Ave., Friendsville, from 7 to 9 p.m. today, Thursday. A service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, April 20, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Dana Umbel officiating. Interment will be in the Blooming Rose Cemetery.
JEANETTE F. ISER
Jeanette F. Iser, 74, Rawlings, died Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born May 26, 1926, at Lonaconing, she was a daughter of the late John James and Estella Mae (Mackey) Phillips. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Leonard E. Iser Sr. on Feb. 24, 1992; one daughter, Tracie Renee Iser; and four sisters, Mae Robinson, Dorothy Steele, Marian Llewellyn, and Eleanor Brodie.
She was retired from the Celanese Amcelle Plant in the spinning department, and was a homemaker.
She attended the Dawson United Methodist Church and was a charter member of the Mapleshade Rod and Gun Club Auxiliary, as well as a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the McCoole Volunteer Fire Department. She was an active member of the former Mc-Coole School PTA and served as a Girl Scout leader.
Surviving are one son, Leonard E. Iser Jr., with whom she resided; five daughters, Mary E. "Betsy" Rice, Keyser, W.Va., Naomi F. Kile, Rawlings, Patricia J. Bothwell, Burlington, W.Va., Rebecca J. Miller, Keyser, and Kellie L. Biser, Yemassee, S.C.; four stepchildren, Walter E. Iser, Keyser, Maxine L. McDowell, Rawlings, Bernice L. Treutle, Keyser, and Beverly R. Cadwallader, Gilmore; two brothers, James Phillips and Walter Phillips, both of Lonaconing; four sisters, Isabelle McDonough, Lonaconing, Betty Stevenson, Swanton, Catherine Sowers, Rawlings, and Frances Metz, Gaithersburg; 27 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, from 7 to 9 p.m. today, Thursday, and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday.
A service will be conducted at the Dawson United Methodist Church on Saturday, April 21, with the Rev. John F. Footen officiating. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in the Dawson Cemetery.
ROY L. SANDERS
Roy L. Sanders, 63, Oakland, died Wednesday, April 18, 2001, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
Born March 15, 1938, in Terra Alta, W.Va., he was a son of the late Russell and Mary (Bowser) Sanders.
He was a member of the Oakland Church of Christ, the Garrett County Farm Bureau, and was a U.S. Army veteran.
He was the vice-president of the Mountain Fresh Producers, who operate the Farmers' Tailgate Market, and was a past president of the Southern Band Boosters and the Southern High School FFA Alumni Association.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine E. "Cathy" (Rinehart) Sanders; two daughters, Debbie L. Rounds and Danita Jo Rhodes, both of Oakland; one son, Glen R. "Butch" Sanders, Oakland; four brothers, Russell Sanders and Gerald Sanders, both of Terra Alta, Dale Sanders, of Oakland, and James Sanders of Newell Wells, West Virginia; and eight grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday. A service will be conducted at the funeral home on Sunday, April 22, at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Donald Matthews officiating. Interment will be in the Nine Cemetery, Oakland.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by members of the various veterans organizations in southern Garrett County.
BLAIR J. BUCKEL
Blair J. Buckel, 82, Grantsville, died Friday, April 6, 2001, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born April 18, 1918, in Bittinger, he was a son of the late William Edward and Bertha Ellen (Wiley) Buckel. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Robert, Richard, and Blake Buckel, and Vernon Wiley.
He retired as a sergeant from the Maryland State Police, having served from 1942 until 1974. He was a member of the Maryland State Police Alumni Association, Fraternal Order of Police, and was a life member of Elks Lodge 470, Frostburg. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Grantsville.
Survivors include one son, William B. "Butch" Buckel, Grantsville; one daughter, Beverly J. Scott, Rock Hill, S.C.; two brothers, Max Buckel, Adelphi, and David Buckel, Richmond, Va.; five sisters, Ferne Beachy and Beulah Moon, both of Bittinger, June Green and Ruby Orendorf, both of LaVale, and Jo Ellen Graham, St. Albans, W.Va.; 10 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grand-children.

BETTY I. RICHTER
Betty Irene Richter, 74, Accident, died Sunday, April 8, 2001, at Cherry Hill Assisted Living, Accident.
Born Feb. 26, 1927, in Chester, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Edith (Georg) Butler. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Vernon L. Richter, on July 12, 1990.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod, Cove, and the Ladies Aid of the church. She was retired as a library assistant, first with Northern High School, and later at Northern Middle School.
Survivors include two sons, James Richter, Baltimore, and Dr. Donald Richter, Oakland; two daughters, Judy Travis, Oakland, and Vivian Diehl, Grantsville; one brother, Arthur Butler Jr., Accident; one sister, Mary Lou Smith, Swanton; and eight grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville. A service was conducted at St. John's Lutheran Church, LCMS, Cove, on Wednesday, April 11, with the Rev. Douglas Kabell officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

H. TAFT OURSLER
H. Taft Oursler, 92, Oakland, died Sunday, April 8, 2001, at his home.
Born May 11, 1908, in Mariottsville, he was a son of the late Herbert I. and Sarah E. (Richardson) Oursler.
He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Oakland, where he sang in the church choir. He was also a member of the local barbershop choir and sang in a quartet. He retired in 1971 as an engineering foreman for Bell Atlantic, and was a member of the Pioneers.
A U.S. Army Signal Corps veteran of World War II, he was a member of Proctor Kildow Post 71, American Legion, Oakland.
Survivors include his wife, Stella F. (Lucas) Oursler; one daughter, Linda K. Freyman, Oakland; one sister, Alma Antkowiak, Granite; and two grandchildren.Friends were received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, where a service was conducted earlier today, April 12, with the Revs. Roger and Ann Harrison officiating. REV. EVERT C. MILLARD
The Rev. Evert C. Millard, Finzel, died Thursday, April 5, 2001, at his home.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II, having served as a weather forecaster.
An ordained minister with the Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, he served churches in Jamaica, W.I., Kentucky, Missouri, Illinois, Maryland, and Pennsylvania.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Roberta Millard; two daughters, Lorelee Farrell, Frostburg, and Mary Kay Hauptman, Lakeport, Calif.; and three grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted Sunday, April 22, at 2 p.m., at the Hostetler Church of the Brethren in Pocohantas, Pa. The family will receive friends before and after the service.

EDNA B. WRIGHT
Edna Blanche Wright, 87, Accident, died Friday, April 6, 2001, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born Sept. 9, 1913, in Hazelton, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Tarleton and Alverta (Frazee) Humberson. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Marie Sisler, and one grandson.
She was a member of Hoyes United Methodist Church and was active in various capacities in the church. She was also an active member of the Homemakers Club, Woodmen of the World, Camp 45, Friendsville, and the Akron (Ohio) Garden Club.
Survivors include her husband, Russell Wright; three sons, Gordon Wright, Hoyes, Lambert Wright, New Castle, Pa., and Delmos Wright, Palm Harbor, Fla.; two daughters, Delores Shade, Frederick, and Elsie Rabago, Mountain View, Calif.; two brothers, Arnold Humberson, Hazelton, and Ralph Humberson, Selbysport; one sister, Ethel Frantz, Hazelton; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

HOWARD F. DIEHL
Howard F. Diehl, 67, Cresaptown, died Saturday, April 7, 2001, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Oct. 5, 1933, in Ridgeley, W.Va., he was a son of the late Herman Oliver and Rose Cecelia (Ridgeley) Diehl. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Annabel Caldwell, and one brother, James Diehl.
He was a retired sheet metal journeyman through Local 100 and was employed by Walter N. Yoder and Sons for over 30 years. He was a member of Cresaptown United Methodist Church, and was a former trustee and usher for the church.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, June Elaine (Whiteman) Diehl, whom he married March 9, 1952; one son, Michael B. Diehl, LaVale; one daughter, Dee Ann Diehl, Cresaptown; three grandchildren; and one sister, Nancy Nemith, Oakland.
Friends were received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, Cresaptown, where a service was conducted Monday, April 9, with the Rev. Harold R. McClay Jr. officiating. Interment was in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.

Richard Ray Wisecarver, 39, Accident, died Sunday, April 8, 2001, at his home.
Born Feb. 19, 1962, in Washington, D.C., he was a son of the late Raymond and Marlene (Spiker) Wisecarver.
He was employed in building construction and was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Survivors include two sisters, Terri Marie Connor, Frederick, and Pauline Louise Bartolomeo, Gaithersburg; one brother, Robert Andrew Wisecarver, Rockville; and his maternal grandparents, Lawrence and Pauline Lewis, Friendsville.

CHERYL E. SWEITZER
Cheryl Elaine (Fisher) Sweitzer, 46, Grantsville, died suddenly Sunday, April 8, 2001, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Feb. 28, 1955, in Grafton, W.Va., she was a daughter of Melvin and Ruby Jane (Castle) Fisher, Elizabethtown, Pa.
She was a substitute teacher with the Garrett County Board of Education and also volunteered with the handicapped at the Lodge at Sawmill Hollow. She received a bachelor of science degree in Food Service Management from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She was a secretary for Asher Glade Farmers' and Wildlife Association, and a member of the Garrett County Horsemen's Association.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Ervin J. Sweitzer; one son, Benjamin Sweitzer, at home; one brother, Vernon Fisher, Ellicott City; and one sister, Angela Berlin, Sparta, N.J.
Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, where a service was conducted Wednesday, April 11, with the Rev. William Durst officiating.

BERNADINE M. BITTINGER
Bernadine Mildred Bittinger, 80, Lonaconing, died Sunday, April 8, 2001, at the residence of her daughter, Christina Elaine Poland, Hutton.
Born April 17, 1920, in Westernport, she was a daughter of the late John W. Broadwater and Etta (Wilt) Broadwater Starkey. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Carl Vernon Bittinger, on May 4, 1981, and one brother, William Starkey.
She was a member of the Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church, Lonaconing.
In addition to her daughter, she is also survived by four other children, Carl Edward Bittinger, Barton, Frances Mary Pratt, Angola, N.Y., Donna Lee McKenzie, Cumberland, and Randel Vernon Bittinger, Lonaconing; 29 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Bittinger, Keyser, W.Va.

Helen L. Hanlin, 77, Bayard, W.Va., died Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born Nov. 3, 1923, in Popetown, she was a daughter of the late William F. "Frank" and Bertha S. (Miller) Cline. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Dixie Lynn Hanlin.
She was a member of the Fairview Church of the Brethren, Oakland. She was a retired nurse's aid in Oakland, having worked at the Cuppett-Weeks Nursing Home and Garrett County Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include her husband, Edward W. Hanlin; five daughters, Sherry L. Daniel, Westminster, Doris B. Weasenforth, Mt. Storm, W.Va., Donna L. Kuhn, Killeen, Texas, Beatrice V. Ford, Bayard, and Diana J. Martin, Scherr, W.Va.; two sons, Rocky W. Hanlin, Radcliff, Ky., and Stoney A. Hanlin, Oakland; one sister, Ada Pratt, Mustang, Okla.; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
