Maynard Fisher
MYERSVILLE, Md. - Maynard "Brownie" Fisher, 85, of Fishers Hollow Road, died Saturday, April 8, 2000, at his home.
Born May 31, 1914, in Fishers Hollow, he was the son of the late Philip C. and Jane E. Gilbert Fisher.
His wife, Lena B. Flook Fisher, died March 7, 1991.
He was retired from the State Highway Administration after 34 years of service.
He was a member of Harmony Church of the Brethren, Myersville.
He was a member of Maryland Classified Employees Association.
He is survived by a stepson, James L. Myers Jr. of Frederick, Md.; a stepdaughter, Betty M. Farsht of Myersville; 14 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Miller and six brothers, Sam Fisher, Lloyd Fisher, John Fisher, Oscar Fisher, Albert Fisher and Keefer Fisher.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown. The Rev. Tracy L. Wiser will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open from noon to 9 p.m.

Orpha M. Eccard
MYERSVILLE, Md. - Orpha Mae Eccard, 97, formerly of 9621 Harmony Road, died Saturday, April 8, 2000, at Reeders Memorial Home, Boonsboro.
Born Sept. 19, 1902, in Harmony, Md., she was the daughter of the late Albert C. and Ida Winfield Wolfe.
She was retired from Hanover Shoe Company, Middletown, Md. and Dan-Dee Restaurant in Frederick, Md.
She was a member of Harmony Church of the Brethren, Myersville.
She is survived by two daughters, Donna M. Horn of Myersville and Viola S. Levenduski of Smithsburg; a brother, Lafie Wolfe of Myersville; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, William Glenn Eccard Jr. and Guy Eccard; three sisters, Olive Blickenstaff, Ethel Gross and Nellie Hildebrand; seven brothers, Alvey Wolfe, Charles Wolfe, Willie Wolfe, Earl Wolfe, Raymond Wolfe, Elvin Wolfe and Arthur Wolfe.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Harmony Cemetery, Myersville. The Rev. Tracy L. Wiser will officiate.
There will be no visitation.

Robert E. Burns
ROWLAND HILLS, Md. - Robert E. Burns, 73, of 5802 Tall Timber Lane, died Friday, April 7, 2000, at Waynesboro Hospital, Waynesboro, Pa.
Born Dec. 8, 1926, in Rouzerville, Pa., he was the son of the late Floyd E. and Anna Elizabeth Benchoff Burns.
He was a 1945 graduate of Washington Township High School.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, serving in the South Pacific.
His first wife, Aileen May Overcash Burns, died in 1990. They were married
in 1947.
He was employed in his younger years at various jobs in the area. He then was a civilian worker in the maintenance department as a carpenter at Fort Ritchie for a number of years, retiring in 1975.
He was a member of Hawley Memorial Presbyterian Church, Blue Ridge Summit, Pa.
He was a member of Acacia Lodge 586 Free and Accepted Masons, Waynesboro, Cascade American Legion Post 239, Cascade and National AARP. While living in Florida he was a member of River Park Course in Crescent City and a former member of Blue Ridge Summit Volunteer Fire Company. He also played minor league baseball in Hagerstown as a youth.
He is survived by is second wife, Betty E. Warwick Burns, whom he married
Sept. 14, 1991; three daughters, Carole Bertzfield of Kane, Pa., Pamela Burns of Cascade, and Valerie Burns of Gettysburg, Pa.; four stepdaughters, Judith A. Miller of Crescent City, Edith Gardenhour and Cheryl Fannin, both of Fayetteville, Pa., and Sharon L. Benchoff of Weirton, W.Va.; two stepsons, Clayton F. Benchoff Jr. and Wick Benchoff, both of Fayetteville; six grandchildren; 14 step-grandchildren and 13 step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. The Rev. Robert S. Edmundson will officiate. Burial will be in Harbaugh Church Cemetery, near Rouzerville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hawley Memorial Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 582, Blue Ridge Summit, PA 17214.
Arrangements are by Cumberland Valley Crematorium, Waynesboro.
Warren M. Davis
SHARPSBURG - Warren Miller "Woodpecker" "Tootie" Davis, 78, of 228 W. Main St., died Friday, April 7, 2000, at City Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Jan. 8, 1922, in Fairplay, he was the son of the late Harry Raymond and Mary Kate Miller Davis.
He retired in 1985 from Western Maryland/Chessie Rail Road, as wreck master, after 44 years of service.
He served in the U.S. Army in the 102nd Infantry in Germany where he received 2 Purple Hearts and a Silver Star.
He was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Lappans, Md.
He was a life member of Sharpsburg Volunteer Fire Company, where he served as fire chief for 14 years. He was a founder and first president of Sharpsburg Area Rescue Service. He was a life member and former commander and a 55-year member of Sharpsburg American Legion Antietam Post 236, a member of DAV, VFW Post 1936, Hagerstown, Masonic Lodge Medairy 140, Williamsport, Williamsport Red Men Club Tribe 84, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, B.P.O. Elks 378, Sharpsburg Rifles, Funkstown Moose Lodge 2435 and Western Maryland Rail Road Old Timers Club.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Amelia G. "Pansy" Mose Davis; a daughter, Mary Ann Eichelberger of Sharpsburg; two sisters, Lora E. Hammond of Maugansville and Iris Belle Raymond of Hagerstown; three brothers, Donald D. Davis of Hagerstown, D. Burton Davis of Hughesville, Pa., and James M. Davis of Rippon, W.Va.; a granddaughter; two grandsons and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, B. Glenn Davis and Harry E. Davis.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 18313 Lappans Road, Boonsboro. The Rev. Anne O. Weatherholt will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
The family will receive friends in the church sanctuary Tuesday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. Friends may call at the church anytime after 10 a.m. on Tuesday.
There will be no viewing at the funeral home.
The family has requested the omission of flowers and that memorial contributions be made to St. Mark's Episcopal Church Memorial Fund, 18313 Lappans Road, Boonsboro, MD 21713.

Wilbert F. Latney Jr.
RANDALLSTOWN, Md. - Wilbert F. Latney Jr., 31, formerly of Hagerstown, died Sunday, April 9, 2000.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Latney.
Friends may call on Wednesday after 8:30 a.m. at March Funeral Home West, Baltimore.
He will lay in state at New Antioch Baptist Church of Randallstown, 5616 Old Court Road, on Wednesday after 4 p.m., where family will receive friends at 6:30 p.m. followed by funeral services at 7:30 p.m.
Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery in Hagerstown Thursday at noon.
