Richard L. Shoemaker
WILLIAMSPORT - Richard Luther Shoemaker, 49, of 15737 Fenton Ave., died Sunday, April 9, 2000, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Jan. 30, 1951, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Helen L. Bridendolph Shoemaker of Williamsport and the late Earl Luther Shoemaker.
He was a 1969 graduate of Clear Spring High School.
He was employed as a cook with Williamsport American Legion Post 202; Redmen Lodge 84; and St. James School.
He was a member of Redmen Lodge 84 of Williamsport.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a sister, Darlene L. Hovermale of Clear Spring; five brothers, Gilbert D. Shoemaker of Waynesboro, Pa., Earl Lynn Shoemaker of Hagerstown, Daryl W. Shoemaker, Ronald A. Shoemaker and Donald E. Shoemaker, all of Williamsport; nieces, nephews and special friend, Harry P. Turner of Williamsport.
Services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Donald E. Thompson Funeral Home, 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring. The Rev. Robert E. Timmons will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Carl W. Shilling
Carl W. Shilling, 84, of 15 W. Franklin St., Hagerstown, died Saturday, April 8, 2000, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Jan. 17, 1916, in Frederick, Md., he was the son of the late Harry and Bessie Shilling.
He retired from the City of Hagerstown, where he worked as janitor at City Market House.
He served with the U.S. Army in Europe, and saw action in seven campaigns.
He is survived by four care givers, Allan and Lamonda McKenzie, and Maxine McKenzie and Gladys Biggs.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Shilling and Dorothy Shilling; six brothers, Earl Shilling, Lloyd Shilling, Harry Shilling, Charles Shilling, John Shilling and Roy Shilling.
Services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. J. Norman Mayer will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the service at the funeral home.
Charles W. DeLauney
Charles Willard DeLauney, 77, of 435 S. Burhans Blvd., Hagerstown, died Monday, April 10, 2000, at Homewood Nursing Center, Williamsport.
Born Oct. 1, 1922, in Sharpsburg, he was the son of the late William Orville and Marylee Bender DeLauney.
His wife, Martha J.D. DeLauney, died Feb. 17, 2000.
He retired from Western Maryland Railway after 43 years.
He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Sharpsburg.
He was a member of Medary Lodge 140 AM&FM and Western Maryland Old Timers Club.
He is survived by two daughters, Linda J. Sellman of Boonsboro and Debra L. Graser of Taneytown, Md.; a son, the Rev. Robert W. DeLauney of Hagerstown; a brother, James Calvin DeLauney of Shepherdstown, W.Va.; and five grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown. The Rev. H. Allen Youngbar will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Yvonne C. Kirk
Yvonne C. Amann Kirk, 71, of 351 Central Ave., Hagerstown, died Monday, April 10, 2000, at Avalon Manor Nursing Home.
Born Dec. 5, 1928, in Westernport, Md., she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Amann Green.
She was employed by Newberry's Department Store for 35 years, retiring in 1988.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, James Kirk; a son, James Kirk of Hagerstown; four sisters, Patricia Cutter of Pontiac, Mich., Ann Proudfoot of Baltimore, Mary Catherine Evans of Cumberland, Md., and Joyce Ramey of Oakton, Va.; a brother, Donald Green of Cumberland; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, John Green Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church. The Rev. George A. Limmer will be celebrant. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.
Robert C. Carder
Robert Callan Carder, 98, died Saturday, April 8, 2000.
Born Aug. 5, 1901, in Cumberland, Md., he was the son of the late George L. Carder, M.D. and Virginia Blackwell Callan.
His first wife, Nellie Draper Carder, died May 6, 1975.
He attended Allegheny Academy, Cumberland, and Pratt Institute, Industrial and Electrical Engineering in New York City.
He was employed by Potomac Edison Co. for 46 years, as Executive Department manager of rates and contracts.
He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, and was a former vestryman, senior warden and treasurer.
He was former president of Hagerstown Kiwanis Club; Maryland/District of Columbia Utilities Association; Madison Power Co.; and Fountain Head Country Club. He was former director of Potomac Light and Power Co., and Massanutten Power Co.; committee chairman of Draft Board from 1943 to 1944; and Initial Gift and Commercial Division of United Fund. He was a member of Elks Club 378.
He is survived by his second wife, Gertrude P. Corderman Carder, whom he married
July 7, 1976; a son, Robert C. Carder Jr. of Hagerstown; a stepson, John P. Corderman of Hagerstown; a stepdaughter, Suzanne P. Wood of St. Louis, La.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Patrick A. Pierce will officiate. Private burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Visitation will be one-half hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Wilbur L. Gossard
Wilbur L. Gossard, 66, of 229 West Side Ave., Hagerstown, died Tuesday, April 11, 2000, at Western Maryland Hospital Center.
Born Sept. 26, 1933, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Charles L. and Catherine E. Richardson Gossard.
He was a retired employee of Long Meadow Bowl. Previously, he worked for Robert Zeigler Heating and Air.
He was a member of Junior Fire Co.; and Cumberland Valley Firemen's Association.
He bowled in area tournaments.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley M. Betts Gossard; three sons, Steven L. Gossard and Dennis L. Gossard, both of Hagerstown, and Todd L. Gossard of Chestertown, Md.; two sisters, Jane E. Bond of Hagerstown and Helen M. Snay of Falling Waters, W.Va.; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Gossard.
Services will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St. in Hagerstown. Major Robert S. Henderson will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
