Hilda Hurd
WILLIAMSPORT - Hilda "Maxine" Hurd, 69, of 11833 Camden Road, died Friday, April 14, 2000, at her home.
Born April 17, 1930, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Charles Clayton and Jessie Irene Kriner Munson.
She and her husband introduced the submarine sandwich to the Hagerstown area in 1953 at Hurd's Confectionery on South Potomac Street in Hagerstown. They later sold the business to the Hartle family. She also was secretary and treasury of John Hurd Septic Service.
She was a member of Christian Holiness Church in Rohrersville, Md.
She is survived by her husband, John William Hurd Sr.; a daughter, Deborah A. Landis of Hagerstown; three sons, Allen E. Hurd of New Paris, Ohio, Jeffrey E. Hurd of Williamsport and John W. Hurd Jr. of Schuykill, Pa.; a sister, Patricia Blevins of Hagerstown; a brother, Maurice Munson of Boonsboro; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Madlene Munson, Louise Koontz, Gladys Palmer and Kathleen Staley, and three brothers, Floyd Munson, Charles Munson and Fred Munson.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St. in Williamsport. The Rev. James F. Mueller and the Rev. James E. Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Zion Mennonite Church cemetery in Boonsboro.
The family will receive friends Monday at Mount Zion Mennonite Church, adjoining the cemetery, after the graveside service.

David G. Walsh
WILLIAMSPORT - David Gerard Walsh, 80, of 154 N. Artizan St. and formerly of Broadway, Va., died Saturday, April 15, 2000, at Williamsport Nursing Home.
Born Feb. 28, 1920, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of the late Archibald and Letitia Duffy Walsh.
He retired in 1984 from Standard Chartered Bank Limited in New York, N.Y.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Force in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater.
He attended St. Augustines' Roman Catholic Church in Williamsport.
He was an officer in the American Iris Society.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey Adele Cannon Walsh; a daughter, Elizabeth Orndorff of Dale City, Va.; a son, William Walsh of Sharpsburg; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Mullane.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Augustines' Roman Catholic Church in Williamsport. The Rev. Alfred E. Smith will be celebrant. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Williamsport.
Visitation will be Monday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St. in Williamsport.

Angeline L. Bear Buckheit
EL CAJON, Calif. - Angeline Lorraine Bear Buckheit, 69, of El Cajon, died Saturday, March 25, after a 30-year struggle with Parkinson's disease.
She was born June 6, 1930, in Rohrersville, Md.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Buckheit, in 1993.
She retired from the Baltimore County Board of Education in 1978.
She was a member of Emmarts United Methodist Church in Baltimore.
She is survived by a daughter, Jan Adams of San Diego, and two grandsons, Larry Stone and Eric Stone, both of San Diego.

Hilda M. Guth
TEMPLE HILLS, Md. - Hilda M. Guth, 82, of Temple Hills, died Saturday, April 15, 2000, at Southern Maryland Hospital Center in Clinton, Md.
Born March 19, 1918, in Myerstown, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Mary Jane Furr Ramsburg.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Andre Guth.
She attended Jefferson County Schools.
She retired, after 26 years, from Safeway Stores in Washington, D.C., as head cashier.
She was a member of Oxon Hill United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two sisters, Florence James and Pauline DeHaven, both of Charles Town, W.Va.; two brothers, Glenn Ramsburg of Charles Town and Lee Ramsburg of Ellicott City, Md.; nieces and nephews; and a close friend, Andre Bouthillier.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Eva Clark and Jessie Boyd; and a brother, H. Clarence Ramsburg.
Graveside services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Pleasant View Memory Gardens in Martinsburg, W.Va.
The family will receive friends today from 1 to 3 p.m. at George P. Kalas, 6160 Oxon Hill Road in Oxon Hill, Md.

Ronald E. Peterson Sr.
Ronald Eugene Peterson Sr., 61, of 7 E. Washington St., Hagerstown, died Friday, April 14, 2000, at his home.
Born April 20, 1938, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Ernest H. and Lena I. Rider Peterson.
He was a painter.
He was a member of Owls Club of Hagerstown; and Fraternal Order of Eagles 694.
He is survived by his former wife, Marilyn R. Cooks of Baltimore and his second wife, Dorthea Myers of Falling Waters, W.Va.; three daughters, Rhonda Jean Peterson of Baltimore, Elizabeth Irene Harrison of Churchville, Md. and Patty Knode of West Virginia; five sons, Ronald E. Peterson Jr. of Baltimore, Mark William Johnson of Owings Mills, Md., Denny Schroyer of West Virginia, Dale Schroyer and Ronald Schroyer, both of Hagerstown; three sisters, Shirley Cordell of Stedman, N.C., Elizabeth Shilling of Falling Waters, W.Va. and Hilda Mullins of Autryville, N.C.; four brothers, Ernest Peterson, Gerald Peterson and Robert Peterson, all of Hagerstown and Thomas Peterson of Williamsport; 17 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Peterson.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. in Hagerstown. The Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Williamsport.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
John L. Braswell Sr.
John Lewis Braswell Sr., 67, of 16109 Everly Road, Hagerstown, died Sunday, April 16, 2000, at his home.
Born Feb. 4, 1933, in Banner Elk, N.C., he was the son of the late Slite S. and Essie Grindstaff Braswell.
He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army.
He was employed by PIE Nationwide for 28 years, retiring in 1990.
He was a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Spruce Pine, N.C., and attended Williamsport United Methodist Church.
He was a member of Teamsters Local 992; and Potomac Post 202 American Legion of Williamsport.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys Hoilman Braswell; two sons, John L. Braswell Jr. of Hagerstown and James E. Braswell of Williamsport; three sisters, Ruth B. Swogger of Satsuma, Fla., Ruby Alma Jackson and Betty J. Bradshaw, both of Canton, Ohio; a brother, Carl Wayne Braswell of Spruce Pine, N.C.; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by seven brothers.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St. in Williamsport. The Rev. Richard A. Kroll will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Williamsport, with military graveside services conducted by members of Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion of Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will open at 9 a.m.
