Ivan U. Lantz
THURMONT, Md. - Ivan U. Lantz, 70, of 7179 Browns Lane, died Sunday, April 16, 2000, at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick, Md.
Born June 19, 1929, in Boyds, Md., he was the son of the late Leonard and Virgie Agnes Smith Lantz.
An animal lab technician, he had worked at Fort Detrick in Frederick and Meloy Laboratory in Shady Grove, Md.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Lewistown United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Shirley Poland Lantz; three daughters, Robin L. Keeny of Thurmont, Patricia G. Clem of Middletown, Md., and Teresa D. Blue of Williamsport; three sons, Ivan W. Lantz Sr. of Emmitsburg, Md., James R. Lantz of Thurmont, and David A. Lantz Sr. of Sabillasville; 13 grandchildren ; seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Geraldine Foster; two brothers, Leonard Lantz and Eston Lantz ; and several half-sisters and half-brothers.
Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. The Rev. Susan Boehl will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
William L. Knott
BETHESDA, Md., - William L. Knott, M.D., 91, of Bethesda, died Saturday, April 15, 2000, at his home.
Born Jan. 18, 1909, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Charles O. and Florence Ada Shiflet Knott.
He retired as chief medical director of insurance at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Washington, D.C., after 35 years of service.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in World War II.
He was a member of Chevy Chase (Md.) Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Frances Morison Knott; three daughters, Florence Audrey Graf of Westminster, Md., Frances Kennedy Knott of Lexington, Mass., and Margie Knott of Arlington, Va.; two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services and burial will be private.

Nora M. Hetzer
MAUGANSVILLE - Nora Margaret Pitsnogle Hetzer, 80, of Maugansville, died Sunday, April 16, 2000, at Fahrney Keedy Home, Boonsboro.
Born March 23, 1920, in Paramount, she was the daughter of the late Henry E. and Bertha S. Tressler Pitsnogle.
She was a member of Hagerstown Church of the Brethren, United Worker's Sunday School Class and the church sewing circle.
She was a member of Broad Acres Home Makers Club, Morris Frock American Legion Auxiliary, Fahrney Keedy Home Auxiliary, West Hagerstown Lioness Club and bowling leagues.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Charles Shelton Hetzer; a daughter, Joyce Marie E. Hetzer of Hagerstown; a son, Donald E. Hetzer of Hagerstown; a sister, Mildred L. Nelson of Hagerstown; four brothers, Roy F. Pitsnogle and William H. Pitsnogle, both of Hagerstown, Alvey C. Pitsnogle of Maugansville and Donald E. Pitsnogle of Smithsburg; two grandsons, and two great-granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Reese; and a brother, George Pitsnogle.
Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown. The Rev. Dean M. Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Cloyd M. Spessert
Cloyd Milton Spessert, 92, of 1416 Potomac Ave., and formerly of Bull Run Community, W.Va., died Monday, April 17, 2000, at his home.
Born Jan. 24, 1908, in White Ridge Community, W.Va., he was the son of the late George W. and Ethel G. White Spessert.
He created a bus route in Limestone, W.Va., in the 1940s, and worked on road construction in West Virginia.
He was a member of Shiloh Church of the Brethren in Barbour County, W.Va.
He is survived by his wife, Grace Hovatter Spessert; three daughters, Yvonne Rinehart of Hambleton, W.Va., Winona Rinehart of Hagerstown and Eloise Kissinger of Bradford, Ohio; three sons, Daren L. Spessert of Springfield, Va., Douglas M. Spessert of Thurmont, Md., and Warren D. Spessert of St. George, W.Va.; one sister, Isobel Simmons of Porterwood, W.Va.; two brothers, Woodrow Spessert of Clarksburg, Md., and George Spessert of St. George, W.Va.; 19 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five sisters.
Services will be at the convenience of the family.
The family will receive friends Saturday, April 29, from 2 to 4 p.m. at First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, Water Street in Parsons, W.Va.

Gilbert P. Mose
CALABASAS PARK, Calif. - Gilbert Perry "Gil" Mose, 76, of Calabasas Park, died Tuesday, April 11, 2000.
Born June 25, 1923, in Sharpsburg, he was the son of the late Joseph Perry and Idella May Kauffman Mose.
He attended Williamsport High School, Hagerstown Junior College and George Washington University.
He was a navigator with Trans World Airlines and president of Global Airways. As owner of Fowler Aeronautical Service he trained pilots, published flight manuals and sold airplane parts.
He was a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force.
He was a member of Calabasas Country Club and Grand National Quail Club.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Bland Mose; two daughters, Donna Scurlock of Jackson, Ohio and Melissa Mose of Calabasas Park; three sons, Gilbert P. Mose Jr. of Simi Valley, Calif., J.P. Mose of Atlanta, Ga., and Gregory Mose of London, England; four sisters, Evelyn Larrouy of Scottsdale, Ariz., Joyce Gamby of Beaver Creek, Lois Bond of Hagerstown and Sandra Fedorka of Funkstown; two brothers, the Rev. Richard Mose of Chambersburg, Pa., and Jerry D. Mose of Hagerstown; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen Marie; and a brother, William R. Mose.
Services were Saturday, April 15, at the Oaks, Oakwood Memorial Park in Chatsworth, Calif. The Rev. Stephen Stewart officiated. Military graveside services followed in Oakwood Memorial Park.
John P. Izzo Jr.
WASHINGTON, D.C. - John P. Izzo Jr., 79, of the U.S. Soldiers and Airmen Home, and formerly of Fayetteville, Pa., died Sunday, April 16, 2000, at the home.
Born July 13, 1920, in Niagara Falls, N.Y., he was the son of the late John P. Sr. and Marie Mergier Izzo.
His wife, Elaine Martin Izzo, died in 1986.
He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1959 after 20 years of service. He was a bombardier in the South Pacific during World War II.
He was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church in Fayetteville.
He was a member of Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW in Chambersburg.
He is survived by one niece.
He was preceded in death by one brother.
Graveside services, with military services by Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 V.F.W. Honor Guard, will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Parklawns Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg. The Rev. Scott R. Ogden will officiate.
There will be no viewing.
