Ellis M. Jones
Ellis Mayland "Tater" Jones, 78, of 15 Blue Spruce Circle, Hagerstown, died Tuesday, April 18, 2000, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Aug. 8, 1921, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Edgar and Mary Landers Jones.
He was a 1939 graduate of Hagerstown High School.
He was employed by Fairchild Aircraft for 44 years, retiring in 1984.
He was a member of Christ's Reformed Church, served on the consistory and the choir.
He was a member of BPO Elks Lodge 378; and Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, H. MaRea Sally Jones; a daughter, Cynthia M. Murray of Hagerstown; two sons, Gene L. Jones of Crofton, Md. and Steven M. Jones of Louisville, Ky.; a sister, Maxine Trace of Hagerstown; two brothers, Harold Jones of Hagerstown and Earl Jones of Boonsboro; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lena Johnson and Mildred Clingan; and a brother, Wilbur Allen.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Christ's Reformed Church in Hagerstown. The Revs. Don R. Stevenson and Ginny Brown Daniel will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown.
There will be no viewing; however, the family will receive friends Saturday following the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Christ's Reformed Church Building Fund, 130 W. Franklin St., Hagerstown, MD 21740.

Margaret F. Hartle
Margaret F. Williams Hartle, 90, of 12035 Margaret Drive, Hagerstown, died Wednesday, April 19, 2000, at her home.
Born Dec. 14, 1909, in Chambersburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Martha Ray Moats and Daniel Gilmore Mickley.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Frederick Williams Sr.; and her second husband, Arthur E. Hartle.
She attended Calvary Temple of Williamsport. She was on the board of directors of Peoples Tabernacle. She once operated a Sunday school out of her home, and held a weekly Bible study group.
She was the author of an autobiography titled "Margaret Memories" and a book of poetry. She received recognition from Lady Byrd Johnson for her writings.
She is survived by five daughters, Irene R. Baker, Margaret R. Smith, June C. Haddock and Ruth N. Huffman, all of Hagerstown, and Hilda G. Alderman of Delray, W.Va.; three sons, Henry Lee Williams of Dayton, Ohio, James Frederick Williams Jr. of Warfordsburg, Pa. and John William Williams of Sterling, Va.; a stepdaughter, Barbara Jean Weise of Hagerstown; two stepsons, Edward Hartle and Richard Hartle, both of Hagerstown; a sister, Dorothy Barnhart of Hagerstown; 27 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; 17 step-grandchildren; 31 stepgreat-grandchildren; three stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Bernice N. Williams.
Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Calvary Temple, 147 S. Conococheague St. in Williamsport. The Rev. Robert V. Robinson will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Gerald Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St in Hagerstown.
Stella D. H. Bradt
WILLIAMSPORT, Md. - Stella Dollie Harter Bradt, 89, of Homewood Retirement Center, and formerly of Mondell Road, Sharpsburg, died Monday, April 17, at the home.
Born Aug. 21, 1910, in Dyke, Va., she was the daughter of George and Cynthia Naylor Davis.
Her first husband, Oliver Grady Harter, died in 1950. Her second husband, George W. Bradt, died in 1974.
She was employed for 14 years at the Hot Shoppe. She worked for Washington Navy Yard during World War II.
She was a Protestant.
She is survived by one daughter, Annie Marie Collins of Falling Waters, W.Va.; one son, Edgar Grady Harter of Waynesboro, Pa.; two sisters, Iler Armstrong of Staunton, Va. and Winnie Tulich of Standardsville, Va.; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Paul K. Davis; and three sisters, Ida Pangle, Minnie Coper and Gladys Follin.
Services will be Saturday, April 22, at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport. The Rev. Ray Roberson will officiate. Burial will be in Fort Lincoln Cemetery, Brentwood, Md., at the convenience of the family.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open after 9 a.m.

Leroy F. Saunders
Leroy Francis Saunders, 57, of 10812 Downsville Pike, died Wednesday, April 19, 2000, at his home.
Born June 5, 1942, in Lancaster, Pa., he was the son of Ruby Irene Mose Saunders of Hagerstown and the late Charles Elmer Saunders.
He was a retired employee of The Washington Post newspaper in Washington, D.C.
He was a member of Church for the Hearing Impaired in Hedgesville, W.Va.
He was a life member of Y.M.C.A., Deafnet Association, Winchester Deaf Association, Signlango Association and other organizations for the hearing impaired.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a son, J.R. Saunders of Martinsburg, W.Va.; four sisters, Judith K. Turner, Mary O. Wade and Rebecca L. Grove, all of Hagerstown, and Connie A. Shaffer of Greencastle, Pa.; six brothers, Charles E. Saunders of Alexandria, Va., Robert L. Saunders of Marlowe, W.Va., James Saunders of Wesley Chapel, Fla., John E. Saunders of Williamsport, Dwight Saunders of Hagerstown and Timothy Saunders of Sharpsburg.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown. Kaye Peacock will officiate. Burial will be in Manor Church cemetery in Tilghmanton.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Virginia L. Parker
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Virginia Lawrence Parker, 89, of Washington, D.C., and formerly of Chevy Chase, Md., died Monday, April 17, 2000, at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington.
She was born in Savannah, Ga.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Francis Sorrell Mackall.
She and her husband owned a 200-year-old farm in Smithsburg.
She was a member of St. John's Church, Lafayette Square in Washington, D.C.
She also was a member of the Washington Committee of the Robert E. Lee Memorial Association, National Society of Colonial Dames of America in the District of Columbia, and Sulgrave Club.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, William Merrick Parker; two daughters, Virginia Parker Clagett of Anne Arundel County, Md., and Louisa Parker Young of New York City; one sister, Mrs. Charles S. Sanford of Savannah; and four grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery, 600 S. Potomac St., Hagerstown.
Following the ceremony, friends are invited to the family farm in Smithsburg.
