Elmer J. Hansen
BECKLEYSVILLE - On Sunday, April 16, 2006, Elmer "Skeeter" John Hansen died. He was the father of Crystal Lynn Hansen, April Lee Hansen, Jeanette Renee Tsamouras, Anita Elise Hansen and the late Hillary Lou Hansen.
He was the grandfather of Patrick, Kirsti, Erin, Cameron and Sophia. He was the son of Waldo Hansen Sr. and the late Pauline Hansen, and brother of Do Hansen, Jean Colburn and the late Butch Hansen.
Services will be held at the Burgee-Henss-Seitz Funeral Home at 3631 Falls Road in Baltimore today at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Beckleysville Cemetery.

Vernon R. Pinder Jr.
MARDELA SPRINGS - Vernon Richard Pinder Jr., 54, better known as "Ricky" died Sunday, April 16, 2006 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.
He was born Nov. 20, 1951 in Dorchester County, he was the son of the late Vernon Sr. and Florence Rideout Pinder.
Mr. Pinder attended school in Dorchester County and upon graduation he attended the Bowie State University. He served four years in the U.S. Navy and was aboard the USS Eisenhower and received an honorable discharge.
He was employed with Howard Johnson Hotel and Restaurant as manager and prior to his illness he was employed at the Eastern Shore Correctional Institution.
Mr. Pinder's hobbies included hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his brother, Ronald Pinder of Cambridge; two sisters, Gloria Brown and Janice Pinder, both of Cambridge; a special niece, reared as a sister, Cluadiana Huggins of Salisbury; a sister-in-law, Edith Pinder of Salem and a number of nephews, nieces and cousins.
Besides his parent, he was preceded in death by a brother, Arenzo Pinder.
Prior to funeral services set for noon on Friday, family and friends are welcome to attend the viewing one hour prior to the service at the Wesley Temple Church on West Road, Salisbury. Burial will follow at the Eastern Shore Veterans' Cemetery at Beulah.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to Catholic Charities or Joseph House.
Funeral services are being provided by Calvin L. Williams Funeral Services.

Gertrude D. Waller
CAMBRIDGE - Gertrude Elizabeth Demby Waller, 86, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at Chesapeake Woods Nursing Center.
She was born Jan. 8, 1920 in Vienna, daughter of the late Edward Luther and Mary Alice Parker Demby.
Mrs. Waller received her education in Vienna Elementary School and was a graduate of St. Clair High School.
Her employment years were spent as an employee of the Phillips Packing Co., as a sewing factory worker and Coldwater Seafood Co.
She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and served as an active Usher and secretary for the Usher Board.
Her hobbies were sewing and baking for family and friends.
Survivors include a daughter, Lorraine Elizabeth Waller Conway; grandchildren, Andre Waller (Stephany), Tony Waller (Helen), Henry Waller (Lecia), Trudy Waller, Kelley Conaway and Otis S. Conaway IV; great-grandchildren, Tunisha Waller, Jowanna Johnson, Kowanna Butler, Tony Waller Jr., Jowon Murray, Jamar Holly, Javon Conaway, Kierra Conaway, Logan Conaway, Leyonna Stull, Kyle Waller and Kameron Waller; great-great-grandchild, Jayon Johnson; special niece and nephew, Esther and Garfield Pinder and a number of other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services will be held on at noon on Saturday, at Wesley United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Wesley Cemetery.
There will be a viewing Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the church and one hour prior to the services only.
Arrangements by Henry Funeral Home, PA in Cambridge.

William G. Gillis
CATONSVILLE - William G. "Billy" Gillis, 91, formerly of Cambridge, passed away at the Ridgeway Manor Nursing Home in Catonsville on Friday, April 21, 2006.
He was born in Cambridge on Oct. 6, 1914 and was a son of the late Glenn S. and Ruth Elizabeth Thomas Gilliss.
Billy attended schools in Cambridge. He served in the U.S. Army from Dec. 2, 1943 until he was honorably discharged on Oct. 13, 1945. He served at Normandy, Northern France, the Rhineland as well as in Central Europe. He was awarded the European-African Eastern Service Medal with 4 Bronze Stars as well as 2 Overseas Service Bars.
For a number of years he worked as a truck driver for Associated, Horton, Arrow Trucking, and Chesapeake Motor Freight.
He had been a resident at the Ridgeway Nursing Home for several years.
Survivors include two daughters, JoAnne Cannon of Bridgeville, Del. and Ruth Rogers of Marietta, Ga,; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one niece, Charlotte Aldridge of Elkridge, and three nephews, Howard M. Sherman III of Venice, Fla., Donald S. Sherman of Salisbury and Arthur D. Groff II of Seminole, Fla. and six great-nephews and several cousins. He is also survived by Francis and Tina Ringenary and their children, Michael and Pat with whom he made his home in Baltimore for many years.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Charlotte Groff
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge with the Rev. Kevin E. English officiating. Burial will follow at the Maryland Veterans' Cemetery. The family will receive friends during the hour preceding the service on Monday.
Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.

RUTH S. WRIGHT
Ruth S. Wright, 80, Winchester, Va., formerly of Rowlesburg, W.Va., died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, in Winchester.
Born Aug. 9, 1919, in Rowlesburg, she was a daughter of the late William J. and Phoebe (Bolyard) Calhoun. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John R. Wright; four brothers, Clarence and Willis Hayes and Lawrence and Roy Calhoun; and one sister, Stella Goff.
She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Rowlesburg, and was a homemaker.
Survivors include one son, Robert W. Wright, Tunnelton, W.Va.; one daughter, Linda Stemple, Winchester; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Browning Funeral Home, Burke Chapel, Rowlesburg, where a service was conducted Sunday, Feb. 27, with the Rev. Marvin Cline officiating. Interment was in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Oakland.

E. PHEBE SPOONER
E. Phebe Spooner, 73, Oakland, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, at her home.
Born Sept. 28, 1926, in Chelmsford, Essex, England, she was a daughter of the late Edwin J. and Winifred M. (Rolfe) Cleave. She was also preceded in death by two husbands, Burl Kegley Sr. and Alfred J. "Alf" Spooner; one son, Burl Kegley Jr.; and one sister, Joan Brady.
She was a graduate of the Rainsford, England, Secondary School, and was a former bus conductor for the Eastern National Bus Co., Chelmsford, England.
Survivors include two daughters, Zelma Neary, Mountain Lake Park, and Joan Rounds, Oakland; four sisters, Mary Padgham and Dolly French, both of Chelmsford, Edna Michaels, San Antonio, Texas, and Jean Monk, Clactonon-Sea, England; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, where a service was conducted Sunday, Feb. 27, with the Rev. Gail Hixon officiating. Interment was in Garrett County Memorial Gardens, Oakland.

JOSEPH F. DAVIS
Joseph F. Davis, 63, Oakland, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born July 26, 1936, in Vennettsville, S.C., he was the son of the late Frank "Toby" Davis and Laura Davis Lenezer.
He was a retired salesman for the Pepsi-Cola Co., Cheverly.
Survivors include his wife, Harriett (Disney) Davis; one son, Robert L. Davis Sr., Clearwater, Fla.; and two grandsons.
At the deceased's request, his body was cremated. A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
The Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, is in charge of arrangements.

FRANK L. BLAMBLE
Frank L. Blamble, 93, Oakland, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, at his home.
Born April 29, 1906, in Oakland, he was the son of the late John and Letetia (Feather) Blamble. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Madelein M. "Woodie" (Hilleary) Blamble, in 1992.
He was a member of the Fairview Church of the Brethren. He was a retired farmer who raised and butchered black Angus beef cattle. He was retired from the Garrett County Roads Department.
Survivors include two daughters, Sophronia L. LaPere, Porterville, Calif., and Jannie M. Yilmaz, Oakland; one son, John E. Blamble, Kill Buck, N.Y.; two grandsons whom he reared, Chuck Blamble, Oakland, and John Blamble, Norfolk, Va.; four additional grandsons; and three great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland. A service was conducted at the Fairview Church of the Brethren on Sunday, Feb. 27, with the Rev. David Moon officiating. Interment was in the Fairsweep Cemetery, Oakland.

F. JUNE CUPP
F. June (Herring) Cupp, 76, Friendsville, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, at Monongalia General Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
Born April 3, 1923, in Hazelton, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Floyd Samuel Herring and Thelda Evelyn Livengood Frazee. She was also preceded in death by a half-brother, Johnny Ray Reckart, who died at birth.
She was the owner-operator of Cupp's Drive-In, Friendsville, from 1957 until 1980. She attended Grace Lutheran Church, Friendsville, and was a member of the WELCA. She also attended the ladies group at the Friendsville United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Robert E. Cupp; two daughters, Janice Marie Hileman, Friendsville, and Barbara Jean Livengood, Bruceton Mills, W.Va.; one stepson, Ronald E. Cupp, Albright, W.Va.; one brother, Delbert Reckart, Painesville, Ohio; one grandson; two step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.
Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, Friendsville, where a service was conducted Tuesday, Feb. 29, with the Rev. Roland E. Nairn III officiating. Interment was in the Blooming Rose Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may be directed to the Grace Lutheran Church Building Fund, the American Heart Association, or the American Cancer Society.
