Naomi J. Nikirk
MIDDLETOWN, Md. - Naomi Johnson "Nonie" Nikirk, 90, of 305 W. Green St., died Thursday, April 20, 2000, at Vindabona Nursing Home, Braddock Heights, Md.
Born Dec. 25, 1909, in Frederick, Md., she was the daughter of the late Frank Raymond and Edna Mae McLane Geisbert.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Nikirk Jr.
She was a retired employed of C&P Telephone Co.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Middletown.
She was a member of Amvets Post 9 Auxiliary and Telephone Pioneers of America.
She is survived by a daughter, Jennie L. Wiles of Middletown; two sisters, Madeline Horan of Baltimore and Helen Smith of Takoma Park, Md.; a granddaughter and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Middletown. The Rev. Donald L. Turley will officiate. Burial will be in Reformed Cemetery, Middletown.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown, and Wednesday one hour prior to the services at the church. Friends may call at the funeral home any time on Tuesday.

Mary V. Ross
VANCOUVER, Wash. - Mary V. "Dearie" Ross, 91, of 1617 Southeast Talton, and formerly of 26 S. Oller Ave., Waynesboro, Pa., died Thursday, April 13, 2000, in Hampton Alzheimer's Center, Vancouver.
Born May 14, 1908, in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Lousia Heim Wiederhold.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde F. Ross, whom she married
June 4, 1930.
She was a 1926 graduate of Williamsport High School.
Prior to her marriage she was employed by Waynesboro Knitting Mill. Later she helped her son Keith in his floral business in Waynesboro.
She is survived by two daughters, Marlene J. Blubaugh of Waynesboro and Carletta A. Mahoney of Vancouver; a son, Keith C. Ross of Vancouver; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a step-great-grandson; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Rodney C. Ross, who died Sept. 7, 1998; four brothers and seven sisters. She was the last of her immediate family.
Graveside services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro. The Rev. James T. Williams will officiate.
There will be no public viewing.

Raymond S. Tracy Sr.
Raymond Samuel Tracy Sr., 86, of 430 Jefferson St., Hagerstown, died Saturday, April 22, 2000, at Washington County Hospital.
Born April 4, 1914, in Williamsport, he was the son of the late George W. and Bessie Mary Hose Tracy.
His wife, Nora Louise Alsip Tracy, died Sept. 1, 1977.
He retired in 1976 from Fairchild Industries, Hagerstown, after 43 years.
He served with the U.S. Army during World War II and he also served with the U.S. Army Minutemen.
He was a member of Eagles of Aerie 694, CB Club of Eagles 694, past president of Eagles 694, North American Rod and Gun Club, First Hose Fire Company and Amvets Post 10, all of Hagerstown. He was a member of Eagles Club of Waynesboro, Pa., past member of Funkstown American Legion 211, and Fraternal Order of Police.
He is survived by two daughters, Phyllis L. Murray of Hagerstown and Edith A. Myers of Fayetteville, Pa.; a son, Raymond Samuel Tracy Jr. of Hagerstown; a sister, Beulah Minnich of St. Augustine, Fla.; a brother, George Tracy of Hagerstown; nine grandchildren 14 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Tracy.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown. The Revs. William Burgett and Gayle Ruble will officiate. Burial with military honors will be private and held at the convenience of the family in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
Ellen B. Marquess
REISTERSTOWN, Md. - Ellen Brady Marquess, 72, of Reisterstown, died Sunday, April 23, 2000, at Northwest Hospital Center in Randallstown, Md.
Born March 22, 1928, in Holbrook, Md., she was the daughter of the late Patrick Vincent Sr. and Virginia Elizabeth Hipple Brady.
Her husband, Harry "Pete" Edward Marquess, died in 1987.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glyndon, Md.
She is survived by two sons, Allen Edward Marquess of Reisterstown, and Eric David Marquess of Finksburg, Md.; one brother, Patrick Vincent Brady Jr. of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glyndon, with the Rev. Christopher J. Whatley as celebrant. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg.
The family will receive friends at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills, Md., today and Wednesday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Thomas E. Burns
Thomas E. Burns, 60, of 7 E. Washington St., Hagerstown, died Saturday, April 22, 2000, at his home.
Born Oct. 24, 1939, in Yarrowsburg, Md., he was the son of the late John W. and Annabell Potter Burns.
He was a driver for Turner Taxi for 33 years.
He is survived by his wife, Mary A. Wiles Burns; and a brother, William Burns of Hagerstown.
Services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Leroy Jackson will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be today from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Herschel H. Thurmond
Herschel Harp Thurmond, 90, of Hagerstown, died Sunday, April 23, 2000, at Colton Villa Nursing Center.
Born Sept. 16, 1909, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Howard C. and A. Blanche Harp Thurmond.
His wife, Margaret E. Souders Thurmond, died March 1, 1974.
He was employed by Potomac Edison Co. for 34 years; and by M.P. Moller.
He was a volunteer with Community Rescue Service and Washington County Hospital Auxiliary.
He is survived by a son, Michael Lee Thurmond of Hagerstown; a brother, Markwood L. Thurmond of Hagerstown; a niece, a nephew; and his companion, Jean Campbell.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Marlin Thurmond.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
The family requests the omission of flowers.
There will be no viewing.
