Sheridan S. Hamilton
Sheridan Schoen Hamilton, 74, of Oak Hill Ave., Hagerstown, died of a heart attack Monday, April 24, 2000, at her home.
Born June 11, 1925, in Chicago, she was the daughter of the late Mildred Teague and Roy M. Schoen.
She was a 1943 graduate of Hagerstown High School. She attended The New School and The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City, while employed as a model by Lord and Taylor Department Stores.
She was a homemaker.
She was active in local civic and philanthropic organizations, especially the dramatic arts. She appeared in plays with Washington and Lee University Troubadours in Lexington, Va. and Potomac Playmakers in Hagerstown.
She was the first female lifeguard at Hagerstown Municipal Pool; and four-time Women's Club Champion of Fountain Head Country Club, where she was a member.
She was board member and secretary/treasurer of Hamilton Pontiac-Cadillac-Nissan; a member of Washington County Hospital Auxiliary; Washington County Museum of Fine Arts; and The Turnover Shoppe of St. John's Episcopal Church.
She helped teach junior golf clinics at Fountain Head Country Club.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, William C. Hamilton; three sons, Richard J. Hamilton II of Knoxville, Md., Teague O. Hamilton of Rixeyville, Va. and Derek H. Hamilton of Hagerstown; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Linda S. Holmes; and two brothers, Stephen F. Schoen and Derek M. Schoen.
Burial will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in Rest Haven cemetery in Hagerstown.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church on Prospect Street in Hagerstown, where the family also will receive friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Maryland Theatre, 21 S. Potomac St., Hagerstown, MD 21740.
Edna L. Beers
KEYMAR, Md. - Edna Lucille Beers, 84, of 11404 Renner Road and formerly of Hagerstown, New York and Kasilof, Ala., died Thursday, April 27, 2000.
Born in Elizabethtown, N.Y., she was the daughter of Perry and Lillian Cole.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Bob" Beers.
She was a member of Unitarian Unversalist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Jean C. Davis of Ferndale, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Joan Davison of Smithsburg; two sons, Robert L. Beers Jr. of Keymar, with whom she lived and Barry L. Beers Shelley of Williamsburg, Va.; 16 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mollie Davis; and a stepdaughter, Sara Stanley.
Services will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St. in Hagerstown. The Rev. Valerie T. Wills will officiate.

Franklin E. Hamburg
BOONSBORO - Franklin E. "Wimp" Hamburg, 65, of 59 S. Main St., died Wednesday, April 26, 2000, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Oct. 14, 1934, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Paul Franklin and Genieve Bowers Hamburg.
He was a 1952 graduate of Hagerstown High School.
He was employed by the Maryland State Forestry Department for 30 years, retiring in 1996.
He was a Protestant.
He was a marshal for Black Rock Golf Course; president of Washington County Sports Hall of Fame; past president of Washington County Junior Football League and Boonsboro Optimist Club; founder of Washington County Junior Olympics, and Boonsboro Youth Basketball League, for whom he coached; and co-founder of South Mountain Little League.
He worked with Boonsboro High School Future Farmers of America in a beautification program in Washington County.
He was football player for the Funkstown Redskins; and Harristown Rockets.
He played baseball with St. James, and Funkstown.
He was a fast pitch softball player for Boonsboro.
He was a member of Maryland Classified Employee Association; North American Rod and Gun Club; Funkstown Post 2345 Moose Club; and BPO Elks Lodge 2645 of Ocean City, Md.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Pete Sweeney Hamburg; three daughters, Kim Hamburg and Christy Weaver, both of Boonsboro, and Patti Ann Grimes of Ocean City; a son, Dean Hamburg of Hagerstown; and 11 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Koons.
It was his wish to donate his body for the benefit of medical science.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave. in Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends Saturday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Naomi C. Gigeous
BOONSBORO - Naomi Catharine "Nonie" Gigeous, 94, of 6147 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, died Wednesday, April 26, 2000, at the home of her daughter in Boonsboro.
Born Nov. 30, 1905, in Zittlestown, Md., she was the daughter of the late Alvey C. and Orpha E. Kline Zittle.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvey R. Gigeous, in 1991.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Boonsboro.
She is survived by four daughters, Genevieve F. Warrenfeltz, Rosalie Violet Jones and Judith L. Mann, all of Boonsboro, and Connie L. Slifer of Hagerstown; two sons, Gerald E. Gigeous of Hagerstown and Maynard R. Gigeous of Bunker Hill, W.Va.; two sisters, Alice M. Parsons of Rockville, Md. and Iona O. Poffenberger of Boonsboro; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Hermia McKnight and Hattie V. Poffenberger; and two brothers, George Zittle and Alvey Zittle.
Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro. The Revs. Joseph I. Donovan III and James J. Caldwell will officiate. Burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Frances E. Huffman
Frances Elizabeth Huffman, 79, of 11032 Clinton Ave., Hagerstown, died Thursday, April 27, 2000, at her home.
Born Dec. 3, 1920, in Rohrersville, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Myrtle F. Haynes Miller.
She had been employed by Washington County Hospital and Fairchild Aircraft.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, and was the organist for 27 years.
She is survived by her husband, D. Darrell Huffman Sr.; a daughter, Cynthia Sensenbaugh of Hagerstown; and a son, Paul A. Huffman of Hagerstown.
She was preceded in death by a son, D. Darrell Huffman Jr.; and two brothers, Ralph A. Miller and Gerald D. Miller.
Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church. The Rev. Robert S. Barton will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. in Hagerstown; and Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the church.
