Clarence R. Miller
FUNKSTOWN - Clarence R. Miller, 93, of 102 N. Antietam St., died Thursday, April 27, 2000, at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown.
Born July 20, 1906, in Falling Waters, W.Va., he was the son of the late John E. and Annie C. Miller.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Zimmerman Miller.
He was a 1924 graduate of Martinsburg High School in Martinsburg, W.Va.
He retired from U.S. Post Office in Martinsburg with more than 30 years of service.
He was a member of Christ Reformed United Church of Christ in Martinsburg.
He is survived by a daughter, Joyce A. Roberts of Funkstown; and two granddaughters, Deborah Burkhart Placino of Martinsburg and Kathe Burkhart Van Wissem of New York and Amsterdam, Netherlands.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Gertrude Kettering and Grace M. Knipe, and a brother, John Miller.
There will be no services or viewing. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery in Martinsburg at the convenience of the family.

Donald W. Ishler
Donald William Ishler, 68, of 500 Guilford Ave., Hagerstown, died Thursday, April 27, 2000, at Moffitt Cancer Clinic in Tampa, Fla.
Born June 13, 1931, in Halfmoon Township, Pa., he was the son of the late William and Bessie Eves Ishler.
He was a 1948 graduate of State College High School and a 1959 graduate of Penn State University with a degree in agriculture.
He was a supervisor for the Farm and Home Administration.
He was of the United Methodist faith.
He is survived by his wife, Twila Harshberger Ishler, whom he married
March 26, 1954; a daughter, Vicki C. Matthews of Lake Elsinore, Calif.; two sons, Vincent C. Ishler of Mercersburg, Pa., and Vance C. Ishler of Frostburg, Md.; three sisters, Janet Gordon of Pleasant Gap, Sally Myer of Bowie, Md., and Cindy Harter of Pleasant Gap; six brothers, Richard Ishler of Columbia, S.C., Tom Ishler, Phillip Ishler and David Ishler, all of Bellefonte, John Ishler of Spring Mills, Pa., and Wendell Ishler of State College, Pa.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister.
Services will be held Friday, May 5 at 10:30 a.m. at Wetzler Funeral Home in Bellefonte. The Rev. David A. Walker will officiate. Burial will be in Meyer cemetery in Benner Township, Pa.
Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday, May 4 from 7 to 9 p.m.
E. Lucille Beers
KEYMAR, Md. - Edna Lucille Beers, 84, of 11404 Renner Road and formerly of Hagerstown, New York and Kasilof, Ala., died Thursday, April 27, 2000.
Born in Elizabethtown, N.Y., she was the daughter of Perry and Lillian Cole.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Bob" Beers.
She was a commissioned pen-and-ink artist in the Tri-State area.
She was a member of Unitarian Universalist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Jean C. Davis of Ferndale, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Joan Dawson of Smithsburg; two sons, Robert L. Beers Jr. of Keymar, with whom she lived, and Barry L. Beers of Williamsburg, Va.; 16 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mollie Davis, and a stepdaughter, Sara Stanley.
Services will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St. in Hagerstown. The Rev. Valerie T. Wills will officiate.

Elmer G. Gladhill
Elmer G. "Skillpot" Gladhill, 75, of Summit Avenue, died Thursday, April 27, 2000, at Washington County Hospital.
Born in Washington County, he was the son of the late Harvey and Nancy Cassidy Gladhill.
He retired from Norman S. Early in Hagerstown.
He was a Protestant.
He is survived by his ex-wife, Sylvia Mason Gladhill; three daughters, Becky Campbell, Debbie Gladhill and Connie Gladhill, all of Clear Spring; three sons, Alvin Gladhill of Byesville, Ohio, Matthew Gladhill of Clear Spring and Ronnie Gladhill of Hagerstown; his companion of 22 years, Joyce Hawn of Hagerstown; a stepdaughter, Tina Hawn of Texas; a stepson, Alan Hawn of New Mexico; four sisters, Pearl V. Younker, Martha Hull and Margie Hull, all of Hancock, and Marie Wolf of Williamsport; seven grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Sara Weller, and two brothers, Paige Gladhill and William Gladhill.
Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Orchard Ridge First Church of God, Orchard Ridge Road in Hancock. The Rev. Alvin R. Shaffer will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St. in Hancock, and Monday at the church, one hour prior to services. The funeral home will be open Sunday from noon to 9 p.m. for the convenience of friends.

Emily N. Weaver
Emily Naomi Branzell Weaver, 83, of 1158 Luther Drive, died Thursday, April 27, 2000, at Ravenwood Lutheran Village.
Born April 12, 1917, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late James and Laura Branzell.
She was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband, the Rev. Herbert L. Weaver, and a sister, Lillian B. Norris of West Virginia.
She was preceded in death by a son, Donald Lee Weaver, in 1992.
There will be no services or viewing. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
