Evelyn R. Wilhide
MYERSVILLE, Md. - Evelyn R. Wilhide, 90, of Myersville, died Friday, April 28, 2000 at Fahrney Keedy Memorial Home in Boonsboro.
Born July 27, 1909, in Myersville, she was the daughter of the late John Emmert and Arlepha V. Dusing Shepley.
Her husband, Paul S. Wilhide, died in 1968.
She retired from Myersville Post Office where she was postmaster for many years.
She was a member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church in Myersville.
She is survived by a stepdaughter, Doris C. Dutrow of Baltimore; a sister, Helen Grimes of Frederick, Md.; eight step grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren and step-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a stepson, Paul Nelson Wilhide, and a stepdaughter, Janice R. Tinney.
A memorial service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Mount Zion United Methodist Church, Main Street, Myersville.
The Rev. Norman D. Kemmerer will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran cemetery in Myersville.
The family requests the omission of flowers.

Mary E. Baltzell
THURMONT, Md. - Mary Elizabeth Baltzell, 77, of 7903 Rocky Acre Drive, died Friday, April 28, 2000, at University Hospital in Baltimore.
Born Feb. 3, 1923, in Smithsburg, she was the daughter of the late Robert Cleveland and Leah Getchy Ferguson.
She retired from Jubilee Foods in Thurmont and was formerly employed with Moore's Business Communications in Thurmont.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph L. Baltzell, whom she married
March 11, 1944; two daughters, Ann E. Irelan of Emmitsburg, Md., and Susan M. Bergstrom of Cumming, Ga.; a son, B. Michael Baltzell of Perth, Australia; two sisters, Eileen Fargis of Montgomery, Ala., and Marguerite Van Horne of Virginia Beach, Va.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, nine brothers and a grandson.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, North Church Street in Thurmont.
The Rev. Leo R. Tittler will be celebrant.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Robert E. Dailey and Son Funeral Home, 615 E. Main St., Thurmont, which will be open from 2 to 9 p.m. for the convenience of friends.
A Christian wake service will be held Monday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Melvin L. Shelleman Sr.
Melvin Louis Shelleman Sr., 88, of 126 E. North Ave., Hagerstown, died Thursday, April 27, 2000, at Avalon Manor Nursing Home in Hagerstown.
Born March 3, 1912, in Hanover, Pa., he was the son of the late Charles C. and Lottie Mae Crommer Shelleman.
He was owner of Shelleman Electrical Services until retiring in 1981.
He owned and operated the Smoke Shop on Franklin Street in Hagerstown for many years.
He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Hagerstown.
He was a member of Hagerstown Lodge 217 A.F.&A.M., Ali Ghan Shrine of Cumberland, Forest 95 Tall Cedars of Lebanon, St. Bernards Commandry 9, AARP and a former member of Hagerstown Moose Lodge 212.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Pearl Summer Shelleman of Hagerstown; two daughters, Janice Marie Yancey of York, Pa., and Diana Lee Atfield of Hagerstown; a son, Charles W. Shelleman of Marlowe, W.Va.; a brother, Roger D. Shelleman of Hagerstown; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Charlotte Joann Shelleman, and a son, Charles W. Shelleman Jr.
There will be no viewing.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.

A Masonic service for Robert Hoover "Bob" Grove, 71, of 319 Radcliffe Ave., Hagerstown, who died Thursday, April 27, 2000, will be held Monday at 7 p.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown.
William L. Gower
WILLIAMSPORT - William Lewis Gower, 84, of 15950 Spielman Road, died Wednesday, April 26, 2000, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Williamsport.
Born in Williamsport, Nov. 13, 1915, he was the son of the late Michael Ford and Sally Beachley Gower.
He was a graduate of Williamsport High School class of 1935.
He was a survivor of the bus accident of April 11, 1935 near Rockville, Md., involving the senior class.
He was employed for 70 years with William Gower and Son of Williamsport, continuing his involvement with the company from his retirement in 1984 until his death.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army in the European Theater.
He was a member Zion Lutheran Church in Williamsport, serving as Sunday school superintendent and on the church council.
He was a member of Williamsport Lions Club, Potomac Post 202, American Legion in Williamsport, Williamsport Memorial Library Board of Trustees, Travelers Protective Association and OGAD of Washington County Hospital.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Louise McCauley Gower; a daughter, Marilyn Gower of Severn, Md.; two sons, Michael Gower of Mettawa, Ill., and Marvin Gower of Williamsport; a sister, Frances Corwell of Clear Spring; two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Coakley.
Services will be held Monday at 2:30 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 35 W. Potomac St., Williamsport.
The Revs. W. Gregory Martin and Karen Stiles will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Williamsport.
The family will receive friends at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral home will be open Sunday after 9 a.m. for the convenience of friends.
