Evelyn L. Kefauver
MIDDLETOWN, Md. - Evelyn Louise Thomas Kefauver, 85, of 206 Broad St., died Monday, March 27, 2000, at her home.
Born Feb. 27, 1915, in Frederick, Md., she was the daughter of the late Elmer Eugene Sr. and Maude Roderick Thomas.
Her husband, Fred Stone Kefauver, died in 1974. They were married
Aug. 27, 1949.
She was a 1932 graduate of Frederick High School and a 1937 graduate of Hood College.
She was employed as a dietitian by the University of Maryland; the University of Maryland Hospital; Sibley Hospital in Washington, D.C.; and Chestnut Lodge in Rockville, Md. until her retirement.
She was a member of Christ Reformed United Church of Christ, Middletown, the Women's Guild; and Christe de Fille Sunday School Class.
She was a member of ladies auxiliary of Valley Memorial Post 9 AMVETS of Middletown; and a former member of Frederick Women's Civic Club; Jeanne Bussard Auxiliary Committee; and VFW women's golf group.
She is survived by three children, Ann Stoen Kefauver of Frederick, Jane Staley and F. Michael Kefauver, both of Middletown; five sisters, Margaret Thomas and Agnes Thomas, both of Williamsport, Catherine Thomas of Hagerstown, Dorothy Thomas of Hanover, Pa., and Jerry Thomas of Hampstead, Md.; four grandchildren; a great-grandson; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Allenberg; and two brothers, E. Eugene Thomas and Charles E. Thomas.
Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Christ Reformed Church in Middletown. The Rev. Mark A. Wakefield will officiate. Burial will be in Reformed cemetery in Middletown.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St. in Middletown; and Friday at 9:30 a.m. at the church.

Charles E. Harne Jr.
BOONSBORO - Charles E. Harne Jr., 87, of Fahrney-Keedy Home, 8507 Mapleville Road, and formerly of Silver Spring, Md., died Monday, March 27, 2000, at Fahrney-Keedy.
Born March 1, 1913, in Waynesboro, Pa., he was the son of the late Charles E. Sr. and Vallye A. Izer Harne.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Frances Marie Stouffer Harne, in 1982.
He was a 1932 graduate of Waynesboro High School.
During World War II, he worked for the Naval Gun Factory in Washington, D.C. From 1949 until his retirement in 1974, he worked for Naval Ordnance Laboratory in White Oak, Md., as a model maker machinist and then as an instructor. Following his retirement, he worked at Maryland University Machine Shop.
He was a member of Masonic Naval Lodge 4 Free and Accepted Masons of Washington, D.C.; BPO Elks Lodge 731 of Waynesboro; and George Washington Lodge 487 Knights of Pythias of Waynesboro.
He is survived by two daughters, Pat Hulsey Mayers of State College, Pa. and Nancy Roach of Columbia, Md.; a son, Edward Harne of Frederick, Md.; two sisters, Mildred L. Eyer of Waynesboro and Hazel Jones of Wilmington, Del.; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Thelma Smetzer, Ethel Harne and Marie Hoover; and five brothers, Allen Harne, Earl Harne, Robert Harne, Delbert Harne and Marvel Harne.
Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St. in Waynesboro. The Rev. Lynn D. Trutt will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill cemetery in Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends Friday at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

Alvin R. Hetzell
PLYMOUTH, Ind. - Alvin R. "Al" Hetzell, 71, of 13054 11 B. Road, and formerly of Maryland and Ohio, died Tuesday, March 28, 2000, at Bremen Health Care Center in Bremen, Ind.
Born Sept. 18, 1928, in Sharpsburg, he was the son of the late Earl and Louvera Otzelberger Hetzell.
He was a 1946 graduate of Williamsport High School. He also was a 1952 graduate of Army Officer Candidates School.
He worked in the foundry business for 36 years; then was a security guard for seven years at Fairmont Homes in Nappanee, Ind.
He served in the U.S. Army as a lieutenant during the Korean War.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Plymouth.
He is survived by his wife, Nelda M. Marshall Hetzell, whom he marred Aug. 2, 1950; two sons, Robin Hetzell of Sewickley, Pa., and Rodney Hetzell of Plymouth; a sister, Virginia Boyer of St. James; a brother, Malcolm Hetzell of Harleysville, Pa.; and two granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Earl Hetzell, Donald Hetzell and John Hetzell.
There will be no visitation or services.
Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Hamilton, Ohio.

Mary C. Mowen
Mary Caroline Arnold Mowen, 71, of 1714 Howell Road, Hagerstown, died Monday, March 27, 2000, at Washington County Hospital.
Born April 30, 1928, in Burkittsville, Md., she was the daughter of the late John Thomas and Mary Agnes Marker Arnold.
She was a 1945 graduate of Middletown High School and a 1948 graduate of Washington County School of Nursing-Cadet Corps.
She retired in 1991 from Washington County Hospital, where she served as head nurse and patient care manager.
She was member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
She was a member of Washington County School of Nursing Alumni Association; and Greencastle AARP Chapter 3025.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Elmer E. Mowen; a daughter, Mary Beth Mowen of Keyser, W.Va.; a sister, Ruth B. Poffenberger of Hagerstown; nieces and nephews.
Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown. The Revs. Darrell L. Layman and Carol Boyer will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Cyrus D. Robinson Jr.
CLEAR SPRING - Cyrus David "Junior" Robinson Jr., 45, of 13640 Cresspond Road, died Monday, March 27, 2000, at his home.
Born Dec. 24, 1954, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Cyrus David Robinson Sr. of Hagerstown and J. Louise Carrier Wright of Hagerstown. He was the stepson of Gary D. Wright of Hagerstown.
He was employed as a construction worker.
In addition to his parents and stepfather, he is survived by two sons, Dustin Robinson and Jason Robinson, both of Hagerstown; one sister, Catherine Horst of Hagerstown; two brothers, Jesse James Robinson and Daniel Lee Robinson, both of Hagerstown; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
There will be no viewing or visitation.
Burial wil be at the convenience of the family.
