Judith E. Crouse
BALTIMORE, Md. - Judith E. Crouse, 62, of Baltimore, died Friday, March 24, 2000.
Born June 1, 1937, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of Hope Deavers Cave.
She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, George Crouse III; six daughters, Dina Crouse, Tammy Wilson, Terri Tod, Sherri Schell, Cristl Dixon and Carolyn Dixon; three sons, Gene Crouse, George Crouse IV and Greg Dixon; and nine grandchildren.
Arrangements were by Cvasch/Rosedale Funeral Home, Baltimore.
Leo Startzman Jr.
Leo "Pete" Startzman Jr., 77, of 13413 Highlane St., Hagerstown, died Sunday, March 26, 2000, at his home.
Born March 3, 1923, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Leo Edison and Grace Scott Startzman.
His wife, Ruth Elaine Startzman, died in 1989.
He was employed by Western Maryland Railroad Chessie System as an assistant car foreman.
He served in the U.S. Army in the 1115th Military Police Company during World War II.
He attended View Baptist Church.
He was a member of Transportation Carman's Union 6195; Williamsport Lodge 140 A.F.&M.; Red Men of Williamsport 84; member and past commander of American Legion, Clear Spring 222; member of Last Man's Club of the American Legion Clear Spring 222 and was instrumental in forming the Sons of American Legion at Clear Spring. He was a member of Voiture 40/8 Lodge 651 of Williamsport; AMVETS Post 10; V.F.W. of Mercersburg, Pa.; South Mountain Rod and Gun Club of Smithsburg; Western Maryland Railroad Oldtimer's Club and AARP.
He is survived by a son, Michael Leo Startzman of Hagerstown; a sister, Clara Cline of Ocean City, Md.; two brothers, James Startzman of Waynesboro, Pa., and Richard Startzman of Smithsburg; two granddaughters; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Gerald Startzman; a sister, Anna Faith; and two brothers, Robert Startzman and Donald Startzman.
Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Robert E. Timmons will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park with military services by American Legion Post 222.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, where a Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m.
Mabel L. Morrison
Mabel Louise Morrison, 89, of Cool Hollow Road, Hagerstown, died Sunday, March 26, 2000, at her home.
Born Sept. 24, 1910, in Benevola, Md., she was the daughter of the late Jacob S. and Emma Gertrude Detrow McCauley.
Her husband, Luther Howard Morrison, died Oct. 27, 1990.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Beaver Creek Christian Church.
She is survived by a son, Karl Johnny Morrison of Hagerstown; caregiver, Sallie Lee Morrison of Hagerstown; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Esta Houpt.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Joy Zepp will officiate. Burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Leo M. Kindle Sr.
GLEN BURNIE, Md. - Leo Myrle Kindle Sr., 88, of Glen Burnie, died Saturday, March 25, 2000, in Baltimore.
Born March 29, 1911, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Simon and Lucy Toms Kindle.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Isabel Owens Kindle.
He was a painter for 59 years with several companies, retiring in 1987.
He served in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of American Legion Post 195.
He is survived by three daughters, Mary Sweet of Highlandtowne, Md., Nancy Grewe of Baltimore Highlands, Md., and Debbie Partin of Glen Burnie; two sons, Leo Kindle Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla. and Frank Flint of Highlandtowne; four sisters, Irene Dean of Belair, Md., Laura Dean of Glen Burnie, Frances Smoot of Solimons Island, Md. Melissa Schemant of East Baltimore; two brothers, Cecil Kindle of Dundalk, Md. and Lewis Kindle of South West Baltimore; 26 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren;
Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Singleton Funeral Home, Glen Burnie. The Rev. James G. Kirk will officiate. Burial will be in Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, Md.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 3 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Evelyn E. Harbaugh
MAUGANSVILLE - Evelyn E. Harbaugh, 80, of 13908 Weaver Ave., died Thursday, March 24, 2000, at the home of her daughter in Hagerstown.
Born Dec. 12, 1919, in Lexington, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Tom and Neoma Mae Holder Sledge.
She retired in 1982 from Fairchild Aircraft.
She is survived by her husband, William L. Harbaugh; a daughter, Debrah L. Siarkowski of Hagerstown; a grandson; and nieces.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Otis Sledge, Ira Sledge, Thurman Sledge, Gilford Sledge and Dale Sledge.
Services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Robert S. Barton will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Visitation will be today from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Morris J. Stevenson Sr., 67, of 29 E. North Ave., Hagerstown, died Saturday, March 25, 2000, at his home.
Born May 10, 1932, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Joseph H. and Anna M. Rae Stevenson.
He retired in 1995 from Frindinger-Ritchie.
He served in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne during the Korean War.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
He was a member of F.O.E. Aire 694; Goodwill Athletic Club; Junior Fire Co.; Halfway Fire Co.; and Hagerstown Fire Police.
He is survived by his wife, Glendore M. Bishop Stevenson; three daughters, Mary Jane Gregory and Elizabeth A. Stevenson, both of Hagerstown, and Denise L. Davis of Smithsburg; three sons, Morris J. Stevenson Jr., of Waynesboro, Darren W. Stevenson and Steven W. Stevenson, both of Hagerstown; five sisters, Anna M. Grams and Loreda V. Elgin, both of Hagerstown, Christine C. Harris of Smithsburg, Lelia M. Larkin of Princess Anne, Md. and Jean Day of Westminster, Md.; a brother, John H. Stevenson of Smithsburg; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Dolores P. Boward; a brother, Joseph C. Stevenson; a grandson and two stepgrandsons.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 2 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church. The Rev. Robert E. Morey will be celebrant. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
