Donald C. Lucas
MAUGANSVILLE - Donald Charles Lucas. 61, of 14109 Stonebridge Lane, died Friday, March 24, 2000, at his home.
Born Oct. 11, 1938, in Barry Township, Pa., he was the son of the late Charles and Grace Fenstermacher Lucas.
He was employed by the State of Maryland.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in the Korean War.
He was a member of National American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley M. Lucas; three sons, Ronald Lucas and Paul Lucas, both of Indian Head, Md., and Robert Lucas of Waldorf, Md.; two stepsons, Travis Small and Jason Small, both of Yarmouth, Maine; six sisters, Gloria Stence and Grace Lucas, both of Millersburg, Pa., Mildred Harner of Delmatic, Pa., Shirley Sponsler of Halifax, Pa., Linda Hurb of Elizabethville, Pa., and Anne Hirsch of Lykens, Pa.; four brothers, John Lucas and Dennis Lucas, both of Lykens, Marlin Lucas of Boiling Springs, Pa. and Earl Lucas of Wiconisco, Pa.; four grandchildren and three stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Lucas.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1332 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown. The Rev. Loyal H. Vanderveer will officiate. Private burial will be in Cheltonham Veterans Cemetery, Cheltonham, Md.
There will be no viewing.

Thomas A. Overton Sr.
BRUNSWICK, Md. - Thomas Arvid Overton Sr., 65, of Brunswick, died Friday, March 24, 2000, at Citizen's Nursing Home in Frederick, Md.
Born Nov. 22, 1934, in Lovettsville, Va., he was the son of the late Alexander Roseford and Viola Catherine Painter Overton.
He is survived by a daughter, Dianne Fleming; a son, Thomas A. Overton Jr.; and two grandchildren, all of Knoxville, Md.
He was a member of Brunswick Moose Lodge 1582.
A memorial service will be Monday at 1 p.m. at John T. Williams Funeral Home in Brunswick. The Rev. Roland England will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Olivet cemetery in Lovettsville.

Glenn H. Helman
Glenn Harris Helman, 89, of 13521 Paradise Drive, Hagerstown, died Friday, March 24, 2000, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Oct. 20, 1910, in Franklin County, Pa., he was the son of the late Emory David and Caroline Sprenkle Helman.
He was a member of Maranatha Brethren Church in Hagerstown.
He retired in 1975 from Western Maryland Railroad, where he worked as an electrician for 35 years.
He was a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Western Maryland Railroad Old Timers Club and National AARP.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Clara Viola Seilhamer Helman; three daughters, Carolyn S. Redman of Surry, Va., and Mary L. Wagner and Glenda J. Baker, both of Hagerstown; three sons, David N. Helman of Gramby, Mass., Roger L. Helman of Hagerstown and Donald H. Helman of Cumberland, Md.; two brothers, Eugene Helman of Fayetteville, Pa., and Carroll Helman of Chambersburg, Pa.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Manila Helman, Hazel Helman, Blanche Gelwicks and Maude Boyer; and five brothers, Robert Helman, Archie Helman, Joseph Helman, Kermit Helman and Richard Helman.
Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave. in Hagerstown. Pastor Jay Fretz will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mary C. Stull
LEWISTOWN, Md. - Mary Catherine Snook Stull, 94, of 11118 Hessong Bridge Road, died Thursday, March 23, 2000, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born Feb. 19, 1906, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Francis and Elsie Kate Todd Snook.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Randolph S. Stull, in 1985.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Utica, Md., where she was a member of the Sunday school, youth fellowship and Womens League and was the organist for 30 years.
She was a member of Lewistown Homemakers.
She exhibited sewing and cooking items in the household department at the Frederick Fair.
She had been a 4-H leader and a member of Lewistown PTA. She also was active with Lewistown community fundraisers.
She taught piano lessons for more than 60 years.
She is survived by a son, Michael F. Stull of Frederick, Md.; a granddaughter, Kathryn N. Stull of Nevada City, Calif.; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Edwin R. Stull.
Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Utica, Md. The Rev. Robert S. McEllroy III, her pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Robert E. Dailey and Son Funeral Home, 615 E. Main St. in Thurmont, Md.. Visitation also will be Monday at 9 a.m. at the church.

Venecy Sylvester
CLEAR SPRING - Venecy Sylvester, 69, of 13025 Spickler Road, died Wednesday, March 22, 2000, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Nov. 4, 1930, in Tummelton, W.Va., he was the son of the late Julius and Maude Miller Sylvester.
He retired as a self-employed painter and contractor.
He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. He received a Purple Heart Metal among other honors.
He was a member of VFW Post 1936 of Hagerstown.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley J. Thomas Sylvester of Clear Spring; three daughters, Sharon V. Green and Patricia A. Sylvester, both of Hagerstown, and Kimberly S. Wolff of Williamsport; five sons, Roy A. Sylvester, Russell E. Sylvester, David L. Sylvester and Anthony G. Sylvester, all of Clear Spring, and William C. Sylvester of Hagerstown; 19 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Raphael Sylvester, Alveeta Rodeheaver and Mary Harvey.
Services will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. at Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home, 13607 National Pike in Clear Spring. The Rev. Alfred Smith will be celebrant. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown, with military honors by The Joseph C. Herbert American Legion Post 222 of Clear Spring.
The family will receive friends Monday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
Ruth I. Shelleman
BALTIMORE - Ruth I. "Dottie" Moats Shelleman, 76, of 4310 Glenmore Ave., died Thursday, March 23, 2000, at her home.
Born July 23, 1923, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Hubert and Mary Gilbert Moats.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles C. Shelleman Sr.
She was a homemaker.
She is survived by a stepson, Charles C. Shelleman Jr.; a brother, Bruce Moats; two grandchildren; four nieces; and two nephews.
Graveside services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Rosehill cemetery in Hagerstown. The Rev. Darrell Layman will officiate.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Leonard J. Ruck Funeral Home, 5305 Hartford Road in Baltimore.
