Lula B. Brown
HANCOCK - Lula Belle Brown, 87, of 215 Baptist Road, and formerly of Grantsville, Md., died Monday, March 13, 2000, at Memorial Hospital in Cumberland, Md.
Born Dec. 27, 1912, in Jennings, Md., she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Elizabeth Hoover Bittinger.
Her husband, Arthur P. Brown, preceded her in death.
She was a purchasing agent for Montgomery Ward in Baltimore.
She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Grantsville.
She as a member of Senior Citizens and Grantsville Firemen's Auxiliary, both in Grantsville; and Hancock Lioness Club.
She is survived by nieces and nephews.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Newman Funeral Homes in Grantsville. The Rev. George R. Loar will officiate. Burial will be in Salisbury cemetery in Salisbury.
Friends will be received at the funeral home today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Ronald L. Eckrich
Ronald L. Eckrich, 51, of 16 Cypress St., Hagerstown, died Sunday, March 12, 2000, at his home.
Born July 2, 1948, in Carlisle, Pa., he was the son of John A. and Margaret M. Kelly Eckrich Jr. of Shippensburg, Pa.
He attended Harrisburg Area Community College; and was a 1966 graduate of Carlisle High School.
He was an Eastern sales manager for Kysela Pere et Fils, Ltd. in Winchester, Va.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in U.S. Army Security.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by three sisters, Deborah L. Crusey of Chambersburg, Pa. , Linda K. Perry and Susan M. Ott, both of Shippensburg; three brothers, Terry D. Eckrich of Carlisle, John A. Eckrich III of Greenville, S.C., and Lester E. Rockey of Newville, Pa.; nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home in Shippensburg. The Rev. Paul L. Tatum will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens in Greene Township.
There will be no viewing; however, the family will receive friends Thursday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Murlene E. Gipson
Murlene Elizabeth Tipton Gipson, 92, of 19570 Leitersburg Pike, who died Friday, March 10, 2000, was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Middlebury, Vt.
A memorial service will be held Monday, March 20, at 1 p.m. at Concordia Lutheran Church, 17906 Garden Lane, Hagerstown. The Rev. William Burgett will officiate. Burial will be in Middlebury cemetery at the convenience of the family.

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Helen Grace Beard, 94, formerly of 314 N. Locust St., Hagerstown, who died Thursday, March 9, 2000, is survived by two daughters, Loretta Anderson of Fort Myers Beach, Fla., and Beverly Ronchi of Fort Myers.
Murlene E. Gipson
Murlene Elizabeth Tipton Gipson, 92, of 19570 Leitersburg Pike, died Friday, March 10, 2000, at her home.
Born Sept. 16, 1907, in Taylor, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Thomas Henry and Alta Edna Wiseman Francis.
Her first husband, Marsh B. Tipton, died in 1970; her second husband, Edward M. Gipson Sr., died in 1995.
She had owned and operated the Little Oaken Antique Shop in Middlebury, Pa., retiring in 1997.
She was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Middlebury.
She is survived by two daughters, Susan Tipton Herriott of Polusbo, Wash., and Melinda Tipton Marsden, with whom she resided; a stepdaughter, Ann R. Gipson of Middlebury; a stepson, Edward M. Gipson Jr. of Middlebury; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl T. Francis and Jerl H. Francis.
A memorial service will be held Monday, March 20, at 2 p.m. at Concordia Lutheran Church, 17906 Garden Lane, Hagerstown. The Rev. William Burgett will officiate. Burial will be in Middlebury cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Lyrian P. Duck
BOONSBORO - Lyrian Philip Duck, 90, of 18332 Manor Church Road, died Sunday, March 12, 2000, at Washington County Hospital.
Born June 29, 1909, in Lewistown, Pa., he was the son of the late Charles C. and Gertrude M. Frank Duck.
His wife, Helen F. Duck, died Jan. 18, 1999.
He graduated from Drexal University in Philadelphia.
He had been employed by Stallings Electrical Corp.
He was a member of Sons of the American Revolution.
He is survived by a daughter, Betty Lou Hunt of Hagerstown; a grandchild, and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate. Burial will be Thursday at Edgewood Memorial Park in Glen Mills, Pa.

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Helen Grace Beard, 94, formerly of 314 N. Locust St., Hagerstown, died Thursday, March 9, 2000, at Columbia Gulf Coast Hospital in Fort Myers.
Born Aug. 6, 1905, in Bunker Hill, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Grace Rice Shaw.
Her husband, William G. Beard, died in 1974.
She retired in 1967 as head cook at Williamsport Retirement Center, after 20 years of service.
She was a member of Hagerstown Seventh-day Adventist Church.
She was a member of Cumberland Valley Retirement Association.
She is survived by two daughters, Loretta Anderson of Fort Myers Beach, Fla., and Beverly Ronch of Fort Myers; two granddaughters and a great-grandson.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. James Hoffer will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Catherine L. Pope
BOONSBORO - Catherine Louise "Deedie" Pope, 89, formerly of Route 1, Fairplay, died Monday, March 13, 2000, at Reeders Memorial Home.
Born March 27, 1910, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late George and Anna Isabelle Bowers Harne.
Her husband, Leo A. Pope, died May 8, 1973.
She retired from Harper & Row as a supervisor.
She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Bakerville, Md.
She is survived by three sisters, Dorothy E. Heckman of Shippensburg, Pa., Jean E. Gilbert of Williamsport, and Barbara A. Ryan of Fairplay; a brother, Warren H. Harne of Boonsboro; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Rebecca Mundey; and three brothers, George C. Harne, William E. Harne and Jack O. Harne.
Services will be Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Pat Drake will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
