Hubert O. Saville
KEEDYSVILLE - Hubert Oates Saville, 72, of Keedysville, died Monday, March 6, 2000, at Washington County Hospital.
Born June 22, 1927, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Raymond and Brunetta Butts Saville.
He was raised by his mother and his grandparents, Lafayette and Mary Jane Butts.
He retired from Fort Detrick, Md.
He served in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Church of God.
He was a member of McClellan Gun Club.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Leona Bowers Saville; a daughter, June Vance of Keedysville; a son, Steven Saville of Keedysville; three grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by a great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown. The Rev. Pat Drake will officiate.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg, W.Va.
Leona R. Smoot
BRUNSWICK, Md. - Leona "Onnie" Rachel Smoot, 77, of 39 E. C St., died Sunday, March 5, 2000, at Frederick (Md.) Memorial Hospital.
Born April 3, 1922, in Millville, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late William E. and Greta Elizabeth Ross Hardy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ortenance Smoot.
She was a retired custodian for National Geographic Society in Gaithersburg, Md.
She was a member of New York Hill United Methodist Church in Brunswick.
She was a member of Ladies Auxiliary of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 1136 and Steadman-Kennan Post 96 of American Legion, both of Brunswick.
She is survived by four sisters, Anna Slonaker and Mae Dunn, both of Martinsburg, W.Va., Margaret Funk of Phoenix, Ariz., and Betty Smith of Holiday, Fla.; four nieces; three nephews; two great-nephews; one great-great-niece and one great-great-nephew.
Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at John T. Williams Funeral Home, 100 Petersville Road, Brunswick. The Rev. Clark D. Carr will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery in Martinsburg.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open from 9 a.m.

Henry L. Hoke
THURMONT, Md. - Henry Lloyd Hoke, 89, of 30 Summit Ave., died Monday, March 6, at Frederick (Md.) Memorial Hospital.
Born Oct. 26, 1910, in Rochelle, Ill., he was the son of the late Henry George and Lula K. Gall Hoke.
He was a graduate of Emmitsburg (Md.) High School; and University of Maryland with a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering. He completed graduate studies at Harvard and MIT.
He was employed by Firestone Tire and Rubber Co., in Akron, Ohio. He and his wife founded Hoke Furniture Co. in Thurmont.
He served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army Cavalry and Signal Corps during World War II and was involved with the development of radar.
He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ.
He was a member of Thurmont Lions Club; Acacia Lodge 155 A.F.&A. Masons; 32 degree member of Ancient and Accepted Rite, A.A.O.N.M. Shrine; Isaac Walton League, and Brotherhood of Jungle Cock. He was instrumental in the establishment of Thurmont Medical Center and worked toward founding of United States Institute for Peace.
He is survived by his wife, Clara May Hild Hoke, whom he married
June 1, 1941; three daughters, Nancy Turner of Potomac, Md., Margaret Littlejohn of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Susan Hahn of Gordonsville, Va.; two sons, Ronald H. Hoke of Englewood, Fla., and John Hoke of Thurmont; one brother, Charles Hoke of El Dorado, Ark.; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Church of Christ, 101 E. Main St., Thurmont. The Rev. Donald Hammond will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill cemetery in Waynesboro, Pa.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Robert E. Dailey & Son Funeral Home, 615 E. Main St., Thurmont; and Friday at the church at 10 a.m. The funeral home will be open Thursday from 1 p.m., with Masonic memorial services at 8 p.m. by Acacia Lodge 155 A.F.&A. Masons.
Friends are invited to the Hoke home on Summit Avenue Friday from 2 to 5 p.m.

Roy E. Warren
CASCADE - Roy E. Warren, 88, of 25444 Highfield Road, died Tuesday, March 7, 2000, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Sept. 11, 1911, in Adams County, Pa., he was the son of the late Charles F. and Sarah Tressler Warren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice K. "Be-Be" Ferguson Warren, whom he married
June 23, 1937.
He worked for 24 years as a machinist at Landis Machine Co. in Waynesboro, Pa., retiring in 1976.
He was a member of St. Stephen's United Church of Christ in Cascade.
He is survived by one daughter, Betsy Y. Baker of Fairfield, Pa.; one son, Rodger L. Warren of Fayetteville, Pa.; two sisters, Ethel McLaughlin of Gettysburg, Pa., and his twin, Leila McLaughlin of Biglerville, Pa.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at St. Stephen's United Church of Christ, 25445 Highfield Road, Cascade. Pastor Kelly Crenshaw will officiate. Burial will be in Bethel Church cemetery in Cascade.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro.
Carolyn H. Willis
GLENWOOD, Md. - Carolyn Casey Henson Willis, 54, of Glenwood, died of cancer Thursday, March 2, 2000.
She was the daughter of the late Preston A. Henson and stepdaughter of J.R. Hessler of Hagerstown.
She is survived by a stepsister, Tammie Spitzer of Clear Spring; and a stepbrother, Kevvin Hessler of Frederick, Md.
George B. Robbins
NEW BERN, N.C. - George Benjamin Robbins, 85, of New Bern, formerly of Hagerstown, died Sunday, March 5, at his home.
He was born in Binghamton, N.Y.
He was a veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Kirsten D. Robbins; one daughter, Regina Robbins of Manlius, N.Y.; one son, Alan Robbins of West Milford, Pa.; two stepdaughters, Berit Gunn and Trudy Basilico, both of New Bern; three nieces and one nephew.
A memorial service will be held in Binghamton at a later date.
