Rean J. Miller
BOYDS, Md. - Rean James "Sonny" Miller, 53, of Old Baltimore Road, died Thursday, March 2, 2000, at his home.
Born Sept. 10, 1946, in Alexandria, Va., he was the son of Hannah Marjorie Roberts of Walkersville, Md., and the late Rean Statler Miller.
He was owner/operator of Miller Excavating Co. in Boyds for 15 years.
He was a member of National Rifle Association.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Guclda McDaniel Miller; three daughters, Jean Schricker of Frederick, Md., Patty Martindale of Dickerson, Md., and Marilyn Miller of Burkittsville, Md.; four sons, Edward Downs of Rockville, Md., Carl Downs of Union Bridge, Md., Christopher Miller of Poolesville, Md., and Rean Miller Jr. of Boyds; four sisters, Lucille Henry of Somerset, Pa., Janet Parks of Walkersville, Ellen Smythe of Hedgesville, W.Va., and Carol Marshall of Rockville; 13 grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services were held Monday, March 6, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick. The Rev. H. Carlton Talley officiated. Burial was in Boyds Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Russell N. Hardman
EMMITSBURG, Md. - Russell N. Hardman, 86, of Friends Creek Road, died Saturday, March 5, 2000, at Waynesboro Hospital, Waynesboro, Pa.
Born Oct. 30, 1913, in Emmitsburg, he was the son of the late Clarence and Ida Turner Hardman.
He was a self-employed carpenter in housing construction, where he built numerous log homes in the area. Prior to entering the service, he worked at various saw mills in the area.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II, in Battery C, 736th Field Artillery Battalion and Company B, 386th Military Police Service Battalion. He was stationed in the Hawaiian Islands, Scotland, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. He received numerous medals.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Clara Brown Hardman; a son, James Hardman of Friends Creek, Md., a granddaughter, Nancy Hardman of Friends Creek and two uncles.
He was preceded in death by a grandson.
Funeral services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Hilda M. Hoffman
HANCOCK - Hilda M. Hoffman, 91, of Rice Road, died Saturday, March 4, 2000, at the home of her son, R. Mark Hoffman.
Born March 19, 1908, in Buck Valley, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Ludric and Annie Leibrum Imphong.
Her husband, Paul L. Hoffman, died Aug. 26, 1975.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hancock.
She is survived by a daughter, Janet A. Fisher of Hancock, a son, R. Mark Hoffman, of Hancock, with whom she resided; a brother, Paul H. Imphong of Hancock; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Leota Imphong; a brother, Edmon Imphong and a grandson.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 3738 Resley Road, Hancock. The Rev. Timothy P. Davis will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock, which will be open from 3 to 9 p.m., and at the church one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
Mae S. Wolfe
Mae S. Wolfe, 83, formerly of Longmeadow Road, Hagerstown, died Sunday, March 5, 2000, at Fahrney Keedy Memorial Home, Boonsboro.
Born March 29, 1916, in Myersville, Md., she was the daughter of the late Roy Wade and Maudie B. Blickenstaff Grossnickle.
Her husband, Chester B. Wolfe, died in 1995.
She was a former member of Longmeadow Church of the Brethren and recently a member of Beaver Creek Church of the Brethren.
She is survived by two sons, Richard Wolfe of Williamsburg, Va., and Robert Wolfe of Harrisonburg, Va.; three sisters, Vada Bussard and Edna Pryor, both of Boonsboro, and Sara Wilson of Pennsylvania; two brothers, Clyde Grossnickle of Myersville and Abe Grossnickle of Smithsburg; three granddaughters and a great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Ann Baugher, who died in 1999.
Graveside services will be private.
Arrangements are by Ricketts Funeral Home, Myersville.
Lester E. Sprecher
Memorial services for Lester E. Sprecher will be held Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, corner of Spruce and Winter Streets, Hagerstown. The Rev. Robert S. Barton will officiate.
There will be no viewing or visitation.
He is survived by a sister, Mary L. Sprecher Verdeer.

Dale E. Hahn
BRUNSWICK, Md. - Dale Edward Hahn, 45, of 103 W. Orndorff Drive, died Saturday, March 4, 2000, at Sinai Hospital, Baltimore.
Born April 17, 1954, in Brunswick, he was the son of Blanche Frye Hahn of Brunswick and the late John Hamilton Hahn.
He was formerly employed at Rotorek Company, Walkersville, Md.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Brunswick.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sisters, Bonnie Sue Winsett of LaPlata, Md., and Dotti J. Smith of Hedgesville, W.Va.; two brothers, Gene Hahn of Hagerstown and John David Hahn of Brunswick; a niece, four nephews, and one great-niece.
He was preceded in death by a brother, John H. Hahn Jr. and a nephew.
Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

Reba J. Shank
Reba J. Shank, 71, of Brinker Drive, Hagerstown, died Friday, March 3, 2000, at Western Maryland Hospital Center.
Born April 3, 1928, in Burkittsville, Md., she was the daughter of the late Calvert C. and Maude L. Eccard Stottlemyer.
Her husband, Calvin Shank, died in 1982.
She had been employed by Doubleday Co., Washington County Court House, and had been manager of Wheatonware.
She was a member of Christ's Reformed Church in Hagerstown.
She was a member of Ladies Auxiliary of Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion in Hagerstown.
She is survived by a daughter, Penny K. Petrie of Hagerstown; a son, Robert A. Petrie of Greencastle, Pa.; a grandson, Robert S. Petrie, who resided with her; and three sisters, Ellen Baker, Margaret Lynch and Nancy Klick, all of Hagerstown.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Bachtell and Alice Nuckels-Lumm, and two brothers, David Stottlemyer and Lawrence Stottlemyer.
Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Davis Funeral Home, 12525 Bradbury Ave., Smithsburg. The Rev. Raymond H. Shriver will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
