Helen S. Ahalt
MIDDLETOWN, Md. - Helen Sophia Stockman Ahalt, 97, formerly of 4511 Pinewood Trail, died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2000, at Northampton Manor Nursing Home, Frederick, Md.
Born Oct. 19, 1902, in Jefferson, Md., she was the daughter of the late Walter Daniel and Bertha Maude Biser Stockman.
Her husband, Lloyd Henry Ahalt, died Aug. 2, 1978.
She was employed as a registered nurse until her retirement. In her early years, she worked in New York City, then as a nurse with Frederick Memorial Hospital for many years. After her retirement she was employed in private duty nursing.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Middletown.
She was a member of Food and Friends.
She is survived by two nephews, Bruce Calvin Stockman of Lancaster, Pa., and Paul Byron Stockman of Frederick.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 9 a.m. to noon at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick. The Rev. Donald L. Turley will officiate.

Lena S. Regan
HIGHLAND, Md. - Lena Shanholtz Regan, 64, of Route 216, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000, at her home.
Born Nov. 22, 1935, in Rose, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Lawrence Edward and Clara Elizabeth Hammann Shanholtz.
She was a 1952 graduate of Allegany High School, Cumberland, Md.
She was formerly employed as a Realtor in Howard County, Md.
She was a Lutheran.
She is survived by three sisters, Treva May Householder of Barberton, Ohio, Rhea Johnson of Baltimore, and Doris Jean George of Manchester, Md.; one niece and three nephews.
Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Mount Zion Lutheran Church, Warfordsburg, Pa. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock and Wednesday one hour prior to the services at the church.
Ruth Fremgen
Ruth Fremgen, 78, formerly of 508 Bentley Court, Hagerstown, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, at Manor Care Nursing Home, Chambersburg, Pa.
Born May 28, 1921, in Rutherford, N.J., she was the daughter of the late John and Kate Blaclaby Clark.
Her husband, John Fremgen, died in 1995.
She was a retired telephone operator.
She is survived by a daughter, Darlene Fremgen of Chambersburg, and a son, John M. Fremgen of Chambersburg.
Services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. J. Norman Mayer will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be one half hour prior to the services.

Margaret E. Hoffman
Margaret Elizabeth Hoffman, 80, of Hagerstown, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000, at Loyalton Assisted Living Center, Hagerstown.
Born Aug. 30, 1919, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Cyrus C. and Ida Mae Renner Kershner.
Her husband, Robert B. Hoffman, died in 1999.
She was a 1937 graduate of Hagerstown High School.
She was a member of Salem Reformed Church since 1942, where she taught Sunday School for 30 years.
She was a member of Maugansville Homemakers.
She is survived by two sons, Donald L. Hoffman and John R. Hoffman, both of Hagerstown; three sisters, Emma Geary and Sarah Wyatt, both of Hagerstown, and Thelma Binkley of Greencastle, Pa.; six grandsons and two great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by a brother, John Kershner.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown. The Revs. Julia Dawson and Donald R. Moul will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 3 to 5 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Jeannette E. Elwood
CLEAR SPRING - Jeannette Elizabeth Shirk Elwood, 83, of Clear Spring, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000.
Born Nov. 10, 1916, in Clear Spring, she was the daughter of the late Frank M. and Agnes Zeigler Shirk.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Master Sgt. John Thomas Elwood Jr.
She attended Indian Springs School.
She retired from Love Manufacturing of Hagerstown in 1979. Earlier, she lived and worked in Washington, D.C.
She was a charter member of St. Clements Episcopal Church, Indian Springs, and a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church of Clear Spring where she served as secretary and registrar of the Advisory Board. She also was secretary of Episcopal Church Women and a member of Ladies Alter Guild.
She was a member of Clear Spring Senior Citizens and a volunteer of American Red Cross.
She is survived by two daughters, Ann Elwood Peterson of Annapolis and Deborah Ruth Elwood Murray of Big Pool; two sons, Donald E. Shirk and William A. Elwood, both of Clear Spring; two sisters, Mary R. Myers of Williamsport and Goldie G. McAbee of Hagerstown; a brother, Roy M. Shirk of Hagerstown; an aunt; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 38 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Eleanor W. Keefer and Mamie A. Shaw, and a brother, Jay M. Shirk.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Clear Spring. The Rev. Elaine Prince will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul cemetery in Clear Spring.
The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home, 13607 National Pike in Clear Spring.

Olive M. Fisher
Olive Marion Fisher, 84, of Hagerstown, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, at Washington County Hospital.
Born March 27, 1915, in Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Orville Miller and Alda Roseila Harsh Anderson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George William Fisher, in 1981.
She was a graduate of Columbia Business College.
She was executive secretary at Waynesboro Knitting Mill, and later retired in 1953 from Hagerstown Trust as executive secretary of the president.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she had served on the council.
She was a charter member of Beaver Creek Country Club.
She was a member of Fountain Head Country Club, and Women's Club of Hagerstown.
She was a member of Shrine Ladies Group.
She is survived by a daughter, Gloria Jean Jones of Hagerstown; a sister, Evelyn Corine Cronauer of Waynesboro, Pa.; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Gladys Harsh Corderman, Neva Mae Anderson and Roseila Anderson; and two brothers, David Nelson Anderson and Albert Orville Anderson.
Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. in Hagerstown. The Rev. Robert C. Lehman will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
