Carl R. Nolte Jr.
MULLINS, S.C. - Carl Robert "Bob" Nolte Jr., 76, of Mullins, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000, at Roper Hospital in Charleston, S.C.
Born Nov. 25, 1923, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Carl Robert Sr. and Elizabeth Watkins Nolte.
He was a retired attorney for the U.S. Treasury Department.
He was a World War II U.S. Navy aviator and a retired U.S. Army colonel with the Judge Advocate General Corps.
He was a member of Center United Methodist Church of Mullins.
He was a member of Retired Officers Association; William and Mary Alumni Association; LaFayette-Dupont Lodge 19 FAAM in Washington, D.C.; a Worthy Patron of the Loris 106 Order of the Eastern Star; a member of AMVETS; American Legion; and Shriner of the Omar Temple in Charleston.
He is survived by his wife, Winifred "Winnie" Joyce Nolte; three sons, Robert Nolte of Hagerstown, Fred Nolte of Fayetteville, Ga. and John Nolte of Thurmont, Md.; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Hardwick Funeral Home, 4831 E. Main St. in Loris. The Rev. David Best will officiate. Burial will be in Washington National cemetery in Washington, D.C.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mary A. Orrison
Mary Aldine Orrison, 84, of Hagerstown, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000, at Fahrney-Keedy Home in Boonsboro.
Born Aug. 22, 1915, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Tom Orville and Hazel May Rohrer Miller.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Richard C. Orrison, in 1965.
She was a licensed practical nurse. She worked for Home Call in Hagerstown.
She attended Beaver Creek Christian Church.
She was a volunteer with the Cancer Society and the Red Cross.
She is survived by a daughter, Bonnie Orrison of Columbia, Md.; four sisters, Jane Bowman and Sarah Herrmann, both of Boonsboro, June Schmidt of Hagerstown and Betty Russo of Mishawaka, Ind.; and two brothers, Orville Miller and Preston Miller.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Bernetta Garvin; and a brother, Roger Miller.
A memorial service will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Beaver Creek Christian Church. The Rev. Mark Curran will officiate. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
The family will receive friends Sunday at 2 p.m. at the church.

Edward J. Brumage
Edward James Brumage, 72, of 11034 Rosewood Drive, Hagerstown, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000, at Washington County Hospital.
Born May 14, 1927, in Jere, W.Va., he was the son of the late Clarence and Goldie McGlaughlin Brumage.
He was employed by Mack Trucks.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a member of Virginia Avenue Baptist Church.
He was a member of American Legion Williamsport Post 202; and volunteered at Western Maryland Center.
He is survived by his wife, Susanna S. Showe Brumage; three daughters, Margaret Brumage and Barbara Brumage, both of Morgantown, W.Va. and Evelina Viola of Allentown, Pa.; a son, David D. Brumage of Waldorf, Md.; three brothers, Carl Brumage of Hagerstown, Jesse Brumage of Devine, Texas and Virgil Brumage of Mohawk, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. in Hagerstown. The Rev. Richard A. Gross will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Patsy J. Mercer
Patsy Jean Mercer, 68, of 14111 William Talcott Lane, Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000, at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C.
Born Aug. 5, 1931, in Williamsport, she was the daughter of Pauline Margaret Swain Shipley Wiederhold of Hagerstown and the late Lewis Garfield Shipley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Mercer.
She was a graduate of Williamsport High School.
She retired from Family Time Restaurant. She had owned Traveler's Lunch and Liquors at the old Greyhound terminal from 1973 to 1983.
She served in the U.S. Women's Army Corps.
She was a member of Paramount Brethren in Christ Church.
She was a member of American Legion Morris Frock Post 42; and Women of the Moose 1128 in Chambersburg.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by a daughter, Martina A. Jackson of Hagerstown; two sons, Lewis L. Lowery of Hagerstown and Allen G. Lowery of Williamsport; a sister, Betty M. Taylor of Florida; a brother, Phillip Shipley of Louisiana; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Shipley.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. in Hagerstown. The Rev. James R. Stauffer will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Williamsport.

Paul J. Richardson
Paul James Richardson, 84, of 815 Maryland Ave., Hagerstown, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Jan. 29, 1916, in Emsworth, Pa., he was the son of the late Charles and Edith Lenore Jones Richardson.
He was employed by Boeing Aircraft in Philadelphia; and previously with Fairchild Aircraft.
He was a member of VFW 1936 American Legion; Morris Frock Post 42; and AMVETS Post 10.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Helen Mullenix Groves Richardson; a stepdaughter, Elenora M. Murray of Hagerstown; two stepsons, Edward L. Groves of Hagerstown and Charles H. Groves of Okeechobee, Fla.
He was preceded in death by a stepson, John W. Groves Jr.; three sisters, Jean Johnson, Helen Peacock and Eleanor Sartain; and four brothers, Oliver Richardson, Charles Richardson, Samuel Richardson and William Richardson.
Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. in Hagerstown. The Rev. Henry Lutz will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
