June E. Sheffler
MIDDLETOWN, Md. - June Elizabeth Sheffler, 76, of 4497 Willowtree Drive, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2000, at Homewood Retirement Center in Frederick, Md.
Born June 21, 1923, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Henry W. and Ruby Finfrock Sheffler.
She was a graduate of Middletown High School and Frederick City Hospital School of Nursing.
She was employed at Frederick Memorial Hospital as a nurse from 1944 until 1967; and then at Bethesda Naval Hospital, retiring in 1987.
She did postgraduate work at Lying-In Women's Hospital in Boston, and was active in nursing organizations.
She was a member and first woman president of Middletown Lions Club; a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority; and participated in Meals On Wheels.
She was a member of Christ Reformed United Church of Christ, Middletown and Torchbearers Sunday School Class.
She is survived by three nephews, Robert L. Sheffler II, Brian C. Sheffler and Mark H. Sheffler, all of Middletown; one great-nephew; and seven great-nieces.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert L. Sheffler.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Christ Reformed United Church of Christ, Middletown. The Rev. Mark A. Wakefield will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the church. There will be a viewing prior to the service on Thursday.

Lewis S. Martin
Lewis S. Martin, 93, of 18006 Horst Lane, Hagerstown, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, at his home.
Born Aug. 23, 1906, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Daniel W. and Rebecca Shank Martin.
He had farmed at Paramount, Md.; and was superintendent at the Mennonite Old People's Home in Maugansville. He was last employed at Maugansville Elevator.
He was a member of Reiff Mennonite Church near Cearfoss.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Fannie B. Horst Martin; four daughters, Louise Petre of Crockett, Ky., Lela Martin of Waynesboro, Pa., Rhoda Strite of Hagerstown, and Ruth Martin at home; two sons, Leroy Martin and Clarence Martin, both of Hagerstown; a sister, Esther Lehman of Chambersburg, Pa.; 42 grandchildren; 172 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Nelson Martin and Elmer Martin; three sisters, and six brothers.
Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Reiff Mennonite Church. The Church Ministry will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday one hour prior to the service at the church.
The family requests the omission of flowers.

Alexandria K. Trumpower
Alexandria Kathryn Trumpower, infant, of 1017-H Noland Drive, Hagerstown, died Thursday Feb. 3, 2000, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Feb. 3, 2000, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of Richard L. Trumpower and Malinda Ann Saunders, both of Hagerstown.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by two brothers, Steven Derek Linger and Richard Lynn Trumpower Jr., both at home; maternal grandmother, Virginia M. Saunders of Hagerstown; maternal grandfather, Richard H. Saunders of Marlowe, W.Va.; paternal grandparents, Donald Lee and Roberta Ann May Diehl Trumpower of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; aunts and uncles.
Services will be Tuesday, Feb. 15, at 2:30 p.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown. The Rev. Thomas J. Stottlemyer will officiate.
There will be no viewing or visitation.
Dorothy J. Shupp
CLEAR SPRING - Dorothy Jane "Dot" Shupp, 78, of 232 Cumberland St., died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, at Ravenwood Lutheran Village.
Born Nov. 17, 1921, in Charlton, Md., she was the daughter of the late George D. and Loretta C. Eversole Grove.
She was a 1939 graduate of Clear Spring High School, and a member of Clear Spring Alumni Association.
She was employed by Shady Bower Market as a cashier; and was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Clear Spring.
She was a member of Dry Run Homemakers Club, Clear Spring District Historical Society, and Clear Spring Volunteer Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Paul K. Shupp; two sons, Gerald E. Shupp of Greencastle, Pa., and David O. Shupp of Gaithersburg; two sisters, Shirley Lewis of Cavetown, and Nancy Stevens of Hagerstown; two brothers, Donald F. Grove of Clear Spring, and Gale K. Grove of Smithsburg; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Donna L. Shupp; and four brothers, William Grove, Paul Grove, Hillard Grove and John Miller Grove.
A memorial service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Clear Spring. The Revs. Richard Yates and Wayne Schwanke will officiate. The family will receive friends in the church social room after the service.
There will be no viewing or visitation.

James R. Smith
HANCOCK - James R. Smith, 96, formerly of South St., and a resident of Colton Villa, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2000, at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown.
Born Jan. 12, 1904, in Hancock, he was the son of the late Tom and Mary Smith.
His wife, Margaret Ellen Smith, died June 28, 1995.
He was a carpenter all his life.
He is survived by two daughters, Gladys Ellen Dotson of Hagerstown and Patricia Ann Webster of Adelphi, Md.; six sons, Donald Ralph Smith of Knoxville, Paul E. Smith, Leo Smith and Jack J. Smith, all of Hancock, Hubert Smith of Warren, Ohio and Stanley Smith of St. Louis, Mo.; 37 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Pauline Jean Brooks, and two sons, James Randolph Smith and Fred Leroy Smith.
Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W Main St., Hancock. The Rev. George W. Glick will officiate.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Dorothy M. Repp
Dorothy Marie Repp, 65, of 17100 Miner Ave., Hagerstown, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Aug. 6, 1934, in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Walter Lee and Rosie Pearl Rubeck Hose.
Her husband, John W. Repp, died in 1996.
She was a member of Virginia Avenue Church of God.
She is survived by three sons, Dennis L. Repp and Jeffrey A. Repp, both of Hagerstown and John R. Repp of Chambersburg, Pa.; four sisters, Margaret Dunn of Clear Spring, Sally Keesecker and Susan Norr, both of Hagerstown, and Jane Benner of Smithsburg; three brothers, Ray Hose and Perry Hose, both of Hagerstown and Frederick Hose of Clear Spring; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Hose.
Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Virginia Avenue Church of God. The Rev. A. Paul Harne will officiate. Burial will be in Blair's Valley Cemetery, Clear Spring.
The family will receive friends today from 6 to 9 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.
