KNOXVILLE - Patricia Ann "Pat" Goetz, 60, of 1630 Hoffmaster Road, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, at her home.
Born March 18, 1939, in Samples Manor, Md., she was the daughter of the late Harry Rolland and Mary Evelyn Myers Sagle.
She was employed at Trans-Tech in Adamstown, Md.
She was a member of Samples Manor Church of God, where she was a pianist and secretary/treasurer of the Sunday School.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Joseph E. Goetz; four daughters, Donna S. Painter of Knoxville, Sherry L. Hammersla of Sharpsburg, Robin D. Goetz of Jefferson, Md., and Bonnie J. Dorsey of Mercersburg, Pa.; and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Nina Lorraine Staubs.
Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Samples Manor Church of God. The Revs. Kenny Johnson and Jackie Kauffman will officiate. Burial will be in Samples Manor Cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro.

Dorothea M. Collins
KNOXVILLE - Dorothea Maxine Virts Collins, 75, of 2112 Reed Road, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, at Frederick Memorial Hospital, Frederick, Md.
Born June 1, 1924, in Brunswick, Md., she was the daughter of the late Joseph Harrison and Melissa Harris Virts.
She was employed with Control Data Corp., Washington, D.C., for 20 years, and retired in 1994 from Utica Systems in Frederick.
She was a member of Brunswick Eagles Club Ladies Auxiliary and AARP.
She is survived by four daughters, Jeannette Murray and Jeannie Rodbell, both of Germantown, Md., Marlene Bowers of Yarrowsburg, Md., and Deborah Collins of Arizona; a son, Joseph Collins of Yarrowsburg; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.
Services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. Rabbi Janice Garfunkel will officiate. Burial will be in Park Heights cemetery in Brunswick.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Seymour H. Carbaugh
FREDERICK, Md. - Seymour Harding Carbaugh, 77, of Frederick, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2000, at the Depatment of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Jan. 8, 1923, in Thurmont, Md., he was the son of the late Nicholas June and Millie Emma Fogle Carbaugh.
He had been employed with Genstar for 11 years prior to his retirement.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Harriet Chapel Episcopal Parish, Catoctin Furnace, Md.
He was a member of Edwin C. Creeger Post 168 American Legion, Thurmont and was a former member and past president of Yellow Springs Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Elizabeth Shankle Carbaugh, whom he married
Feb. 21, 1970; two daughters, Sylvia Jean Easton and Joan Lorraine Shaw, both of Frederick; six grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Lanna Clifton Carbaugh.
Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Robert E. Dailey & Son Funeral Home, 1201 N. Market St., Frederick. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open from 1 to 9 p.m.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Martinsburg, WV.
Howard F. Johnston
Howard Frank Johnston, 86, of Hagerstown, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, at his home.
Born July 10, 1913, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Frank L. and Indianola Itnyre Johnston.
He was employed as personal and safety manager by G.A.F., retiring after 45 years of service. He also was a Certified Safety Professional.
He was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church.
He was a member and past president of Exchange Club of Hagerstown. He was past chairman of the Cement and Quarry Section, National Safety Council.
He was a member of Friendship Lodge 84 AF&AM, B.P.O. Elks Lodge 378, American Society of Safety Engineers, and Mason Dixon Council of the Boy Scouts of America, and was a former scoutmaster for Troop 2.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mildred L. Johnston; a daughter, Susan Johnston Aliveto of Shepherdstown, W.Va.; a son, Frank L. Johnston of Pittsburgh; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn R. Johnston; and a brother, Morris S. Johnston.
Services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North in Hagerstown. The Rev. Stephen D. Robison and Bishop Joseph H. Yeakel will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven cemetery in Hagerstown.
Visitation will be today from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Betty J. Samson
WILLIAMSPORT - Betty Jean Samson, 80, formerly of Williamsport, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2000, at Manor Care North in York, Pa.
Born July 18, 1919, in Fairmont, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Anna Snider Little.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard W. Samson.
She was a graduate of West Virginia University.
She was employed by Washington County Hospital, and City Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va.
She is survived by two sisters, Dortha Lee Martin of Mannington, W.Va., and Louise Bosserman of Greenwood, S.C.; a brother, Bill Little of Fairmont; a granddaughter; and a great-grandson.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. in Hagerstown. The Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery in Hagerstown.
There will be no viewing.

Joyce L. Needy
Joyce Louise Needy, 66, of 18615 Preston Road, Hagerstown, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, at Washington County Hospital.
Born June 30, 1933, in Greensburg, Md., she was the daughter of the late John B. and Louise Perry Massie.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Needy.
She was a member of Mount Zion Mennonite Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Welling of Hagerstown; a son, Charles Needy of Hagerstown; two brothers, George Massie and John Massie, both of Hagerstown; two grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. in Hagerstown. The Rev. Larry Lehman will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
