Roy M. Poole
Roy Millard Poole, 79, of 1540 Iris Court, Hagerstown, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, at his home.
Born May 30, 1920, in Middletown, Md., he was the son of the late Millard Guy and Ruth Irene Leiter Poole.
He retired from Jamison Door Co.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was a life member of VFW Post 1936.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Anna Ruth Poole; two sons, Wesley M. Poole of Hagerstown and John M. Poole of Alabama; a foster son, Fred H. Lewis of Hagerstown; a brother, Osmond L. Poole of Chambersburg, Pa.; and three grandchildren.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown. The Rev. Stephen D. Robison will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends Friday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Lewis D. Burkholder
CLEAR SPRING - Lewis David Burkholder, 43, of 14128 Spickler Road, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 1999, at Washington County Hospital, from injuries he received in an electrical accident at his home.
Born June 21, 1956, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Emma E. Martin Burkholder of Hagerstown, and the late Jacob H. Burkholder.
He was a dairy farmer.
He was a member of Miller's Mennonite Church near Leitersburg.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Charlotte R. Miller Burkholder, whom he married
Feb. 17, 1979; three daughters, Karla S. Burkholder, Kendra A. Burkholder and Kristine J. Burkholder, all at home; and two brothers, Harold R. Burkholder of Greencastle, Pa., and Richard E. Burkholder of Williamsport.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Donald Burkholder.
Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Miller's Mennonite Church near Leitersburg. The Miller's Mennonite Church ministry will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church Monday from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., and at 9 a.m. Tuesday.
The family requests the omission of flowers.

Services for Chloe Noel Hamby, who died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000, have been rescheduled. They will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown.
Dorothy L. Hess
Dorothy L. Hess, 92, formerly of 11 W. Baltimore St., who died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, is survived by a daughter, Norma Jean Hess Sayles of Hagerstown.
Harriet J. Shade
Harriet J. Shade, 103, of 11 Redwood Circle, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, at Ravenwood Lutheran Village in Hagerstown.
Born April 22, 1896, in Frederick County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Caleb Doster and Rhoda Ellen Campbell DeHaven.
Her husband, Vernon E. Shade, died in July 1965. They were married
Sept. 9, 1920.
She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Dorothy J. Shade of Hagerstown, with whom she lived; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ellen Louise Shade; and a son, Ralph Lee Shade.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home, 228 S. Pleasant Valley Road, Winchester, Va. The Rev. Isaac Lee Luttrell will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hebron cemetery in Winchester.
The family will receive friends Thursday at the funeral home at noon.
Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
Francis Brown
CHARLOTTE HALL, Md. - Francis Brown, 84, of Charlotte Hall Veterans Home and formerly of Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2000, at Calvert Memorial Hospital in Prince Frederick, Md.
Born March 8, 1915, in Lantz, Md., he was the son of the late Ivan and Alta Brown.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Africa, Italy and France; and was a veteran of the Korean War.
He was a member of Germantown Bethel Church of God in Sabillasville, Md.
He was a member of the American Legion and VFW, both of Charlotte Hall.
He is survived by a sister, Mary Eyler of Thurmont, Md.; a brother, James Brown of Upper Marlboro, Md.; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and seven brothers.
Services will be Friday at noon in Dent Chapel at Charlotte Hall Veterans Home. The Rev. Frank McMullen will officiate. Burial will be in Cheltenham Veterans cemetery with military services.
There will be no viewing.

Charles R. Kline Sr.
NIKEP, Md. - Charles Robert Kline Sr., 63, of 17733 Lower Georges Creek Road, died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Cumberland, Md.
Born March 4, 1936, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late James Russell and Naoma E. Williams Kline.
His wife, Carol Fairgireve Kline, died Oct. 8, 1999.
He was a member of Local 616.
He is survived by six sons, Charles R. Kline Jr., James E. Kline and Lloyd A. Kline, all of Hagerstown, John R. Kline of Clear Spring, Raymond C. Kline of Nikep and Randall E. Kline, at home; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, William J. Kline; and two brothers, William Kline and James Kline.
A memorial service will be held today at 3 p.m. at Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, Lonaconing, Md. The Revs. Christopher Crawford and William Boyer will officiate. Burial will be in Laural Hill Cemetery, Moscow Mills, Md.
At his request, his body was cremated.
Mary H. Day
Mary Honore Day, 72, of 559 Jefferson St., Hagerstown, died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000, at Western Maryland Hospital Center.
Born Sept. 1, 1927, in Newark, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Oliver C. and Margaret Coysh Stivers.
She is survived by two daughters, Pamela Palmer of Hagerstown and Judith Lambert of San Jose, Calif.; a sister, Patricia Wingler of Palm Bay, Fla.; a brother, Russell Stivers of Whippany, N.J.; a granddaughter; nieces and nephews.
Services and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
There will be no viewing.
