George W. Uhler Jr.
George W. "Bill" Uhler Jr., 65, of Marsh Pike, and formerly of Potomac Towers on West Baltimore Street, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2000, at Avalon Manor Nursing Home.
Born Feb. 3, 1934, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late George William Uhler Sr. and Elizabeth Rachael Harbaugh Uhler Gray.
He had been employed by Pennsylvania Railroad; and then by Bethlehem Steel in Baltimore.
He was a Protestant.
He was a former member of Hagerstown Moose Lodge; Owls Club; Hagerstown Tribe of Redmen; and Shuffle Board League.
He is survived by two sisters, Delores L. Fitzgerald of Waynesboro, Pa., and Betty J. Spence of Hagerstown; a brother, Howard T. Uhler of Hagerstown; nieces; nephews, and cousins.
Services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown. Major Robert S. Henderson will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mary D. Osmond
WESTMINSTER, Md. - Mary Dona Osmond, 67, of Westminster, died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2000, at her home.
Born July 5, 1932, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Charles W. and Ruth Starner Alexander.
She worked as a florist.
She was active in community services; and was a former member of The League of Women Voters.
She is survived by five children, William A. Osmond of Dothan, Ala., Amy Jo Jones and Kenneth E. Osmond, both of Mount Airy, Md., Margaret Nicholson of Gaithersburg, Md. and Virginia Mae Blue of Bradenton, Fla.; a sister, Judith Jameson of Easton, Md.; seven grandchildren; an aunt; nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Welsh.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 E. Ridgeville Blvd. in Mount Airy. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery in Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends Monday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Marian DeLauter
SABILLASVILLE, Md. - Marian DeLauter, 75, of Savillasville, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2000, at her home.
Born July 18, 1924, in Rocky Ridge, Md., she was the daughter of the late Roy and Grace Bollinger Valentine.
She was a member of United Church of Christ.
She was a member of Thurmont Senior Citizens.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Edwin DeLauter; two daughters, Sharon Firme of Gettysburg, Pa., and Brenda Frey of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; two sisters, Eleanor Ohler of Thurmont, and Esther DeLauter of Sabillasville; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Jacob's United Church of Christ, 495 Harbaugh Valley Road, Fairfield, Pa. The Rev. William Kauffman will officiate. Private burial will be in Blue Ridge Cemetery, Thurmont.

Helen E. Stouffer
Helen Elizabeth Stouffer, 81, of 813 View St., Hagerstown, died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2000, at Ravenwood Lutheran Village.
Born Aug. 23, 1918, in Funkstown, she was the daughter of Max S. and Mary E. Moats Weaver.
Her husband, Robert Leon Stouffer, died in 1994.
She retired in 1990 from the Washington County Board of Education.
She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church.
She was a member of Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion and Women's Club in Hagerstown.
She is survived by a daughter, Cynthia J. Stouffer of Frederick, Md.; a son, W. Wayne Stouffer of Hagerstown; a brother, William L. Weaver of Hagerstown; a nephew whom she raised, William Weaver of Hagerstown; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mae Showe.
Funeral services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown. The Rev. Raymond H. Shriver will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
Lucille C. Fiery
Lucille Charles Fiery, 90, of Roessner Avenue, Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2000, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Dec. 20, 1909, in Hurlock, Md., she was the daughter of the late William Grover and Mary Elsie Trice Charles. Following the death of her parents, she was raised by Rufus and Cora Smoot.
She was a graduate of Calvert County High School in Prince Frederick, Md. She received her bachelor of arts degree from Western Maryland College, and did graduate work at the University of Maryland.
She taught at Clear Spring High School from 1930 to 1936.
She was a former member of Mount Tabor Lutheran Church in Fairview, where she taught Sunday school and was a member of Lutheran Women's Group and Ever Ready Society.
She was a member of the Women's Auxiliary to Halfway Fire Co.; and AARP.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Glenn E. Fiery; two daughters, Joanne Fiery Scarcelli of Cumberland, Md., and Linda L. Fiery of Orrtanna, Pa.; three sons, G. Edward Fiery Jr. of State Line, Pa., Thurman C. Fiery and Samuel L. Fiery, both of Hagerstown; two brothers, William G. Charles of Honolulu, Hawaii, and George L. Charles of Long Island, N.Y.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Belva C. Parker; and a brother, Gordon Charles.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Harold L. Hollister will officiate. Private burial will be in St. Paul's cemetery in Clear Spring.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Saturday.

BRUNSWICK, Md. - Elaine Beard Moore, 73, of Brunswick, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2000, at Washington County Hospital.
Born June 16, 1926, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Henry A. Jr. and Sarah Campbell Beard.
She was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Frederick, Md.; and attended Storer College in Harpers Ferry, W.Va.
She was a member of Mount Olivet Baptist Church in Brunswick.
She is survived by three sisters, Emma A. Beard of Brunswick, Shirley B. Colvin of Columbia, Md., and Kathryn B. Rowe of Rosemont, Md.; one aunt; one uncle; one nephew, and cousins.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Mount Olivet Baptist Church, 28 W. "J" St., Brunswick. The Rev. Aaron Move Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery in Frederick.
The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. at the church Saturday.

Raymond R. "Slim" "High Pockets" Russell Sr.
Raymond Richard "Slim" "High Pockets" Russell Sr., 67, of 635 N. Mulberry St., Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2000, at Colton Villa Nursing Center.
Born March 13, 1932, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Charles H. and Mary F. Riley Hussong Russell.
He was a retired printer. He had worked for Hagerstown Book Binding Co.; Tri-State Printing, and Rudy and Spong.
He served in the U.S. Air Force.
He was a member of Funkstown Fire Co., and was a firefighter and driver.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Ann Paul Russell; a daughter, Theresa Thomas of Boonsboro; three sons, Charles M. Russell of Hixon, Tenn., James A. Russell and Raymond R. Russell Jr., both of Hagerstown; two sisters, Blanche Centzer of Waynesboro, Pa., and Virginia Davis of Hagerstown; two brothers, James Russell of Mechanicsburg, Pa., and Markwood Russell of Richmond, Va.; and four grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St. in Hagerstown. The Rev. J. Norman Mayer will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
