Joseph M. Henderson
Joseph MacDonald Henderson, 88, of 651 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, died Monday, Jan. 17, 2000, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Feb. 10, 1911, in Williamsport, he was the son of the late Lewis and Homey Jackson Henderson.
He attended North Street School.
He retired from Central Chemical Corp. in Hagerstown.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma E. Henderson Henderson; three daughters, Irma Branch, Sylvia Scott and Diane Dickson, all of Hagerstown; a son, Joseph MacDonald Henderson Jr. of Hagerstown; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at King's Apostle Holiness Church of God, 125 W. Bethel St. in Hagerstown. Elders Derek Kee and Joe Folkes will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the church.
Arrangements are by Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St. in Hagerstown.
Anthony J. Calandrelle Sr.
Anthony J. Calandrelle Sr., 73, of 19828 Bennie Drive, Hagerstown, died Monday, Jan. 17, 2000, at his home.
Born Dec. 18, 1926, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Mario A. Sr. and Josephine Ferrara Calandrelle.
He retired as a postal carrier.
He served with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
He was a member of Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion; Last Man's Club; and North American Rod and Gun Club.
He is survived by his wife, Maria B. Stevenson Calandrelle; a daughter, Beth M. Calandrelle of Hagerstown; two sons, Anthony J. Calandrelle Jr. and Michael S. Calandrelle, both of Hagerstown; four sisters, Louise Lushbaugh, Mary Virginia Railing, Sue L. Munson and Judy M. Semler, all of Hagerstown; four brothers, Mario A. Calandrelle Jr., Charles E. Calandrelle, Robert L. Calandrelle and John P. Calandrelle, all of Hagerstown; and three granddaughters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church. The Rev. George Limmer will be celebrant. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, with military honors by Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St. in Hagerstown.
Jeffrey D. Schaffnit
Jeffrey Donald Schaffnit, 40, of 311/2 E. Franklin St., Hagerstown, died Monday, Jan. 17, 2000, at his home.
Born June 23, 1959, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Peter J. and Mary Smith Schaffnit of Hagerstown.
He was a 1977 graduate of North Hagerstown High School.
He was the manager of Duke's Tavern in Hagerstown.
He was a member of Saint Joseph's Catholic Church.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Peter J. Schaffnit III of Hagerstown; his fiance, Rose Daley of Hagerstown; a daughter, Tiah; aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church. The Rev. Christopher Moore will be celebrant. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church.
Memorial donations may be made to Saint Joseph's Catholic Church, 17630 Virginia Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21740.

Catherine E. Smith
MYERSVILLE, Md. - Catherine E. Smith, 85, of Myersville, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000, at her home.
Born Sept. 10, 1914, in Wolfsville, she was the daughter of the late Ary R. and Emma Jane Blickenstaff Kline.
Her husband, Cyrus J. Smith, died in 1990.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church in Myersville, and the Adult Sunday School Class.
She is survived by one son, Ronald L. Smith of Myersville; two sisters, Margaret Marie Flook of Chambersburg, Pa., and Elva Crawford of Hagerstown; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Evelyn Grossnickle; and three brothers, John Roger Kline, Carroll Meredith Kline and Ary Michael Kline.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Mount Zion United Methodist Church in Myersville. The Rev. Norman Kemmerer will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Ricketts Funeral Home, 504 Main St., Myersville, today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Dennis W. Stonebreaker Sr.
WILLIAMSPORT - Dennis Wanard Stonebreaker Sr., 22, of 38 E. Frederick St., died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000, in Hagerstown.
Born July 17, 1977, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Charles William and Robin Elizabeth Stonebreaker of Williamsport and Bobby Neal and Sharon Kay Evans of Hagerstown.
He was employed by Gruber Building, Cleaning and Restoration as an apprentice mason.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a son, Dennis Wanard Stonebreaker Jr., of Westminster, Md.; maternal grandmother, Margaret Alexander of Hagerstown; paternal grandmother, Helen Stonebreaker of Clear Spring; a sister, Tara L. Stonebreaker of Hagerstown; a brother, Charles M. Stonebreaker of Williamsport; two stepsisters, Karrie A. Mullan of Ridgeley, W.Va., and Nicole E. DeLauter of Williamsport; two stepbrothers, Rusty M. Edwards of Winchester and Jason M. Edwards of Hagerstown; nieces and nephews.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport. The Rev. Ed Hampton will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Clear Spring.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open after 9 a.m.
Mary L. Clopper
BOONSBORO - Mary Louise Clopper, 97, of 225 Potomac St., died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000, at her home.
Born Dec. 14, 1902, in Mount Carmel, she was the daughter of the late Charles W. and Flora Miss Haller.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Mount Nebo United Methodist Church in Boonsboro.
She also was a member of AARP.
She is survived by two daughters, Christine Shoemaker and Nancy Kretzer, both of Boonsboro; two sons, Thomas Clopper of Funkstown, and Charles F. Clopper of Boonsboro; one sister, Ruth Reeder of Hagerstown; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five sisters and three brothers.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Ron Kurtz will officiate. Burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.
