Micheal L. Harvey, infant son of Randolph L. Harvey and Lacie B. Dumire, Oakland, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandparents, Randall and Gail (Sigdahl) Dumire, Friendsville; paternal grandparents, Randolph Harvey, Swanton, and Debra (Robinette) Harvey, Oakland; maternal great-grandparents, Susan Robinette, Gorman, and George and Betty Harvey, Swanton; and paternal great-grandparents, Gloria Wentz, North Dakota, and Norma Dumire, Oakland.
A service was held at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, on Wednesday, Jan. 30.
Interment was in the Bayard Cemetery, Bayard, W.Va.
ROSETTA J. HELMICK
Rosetta J. "Rosie" Helmick, 91, Oakland, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, at the Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home, Oakland.
Born Dec. 3, 1920, in Vindex, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Almeada (Stewart) Sharpless. She was also preceded in death by two husbands, Charles E. Tasker in 1978, and Clem Helmick, and one son, Marshall E. Tasker.
She is survived by two sons, Junior Kenneth Tasker, White Marsh, Va., and Woodrow Tasker, Oakland; one brother, Buddy Sharpless, Baltimore; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, where a service was held on Sunday, Jan. 27, with the Rev. Gail Hixon officiating.
Interment was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Swanton.
PANSY R. KENT
Pansy Roberta Kent, 85, formerly of Mount Storm, W.Va., died Monday, Jan. 28, 2002, in Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born June 17, 1916, in Bloomington, she was a daughter of the late Emory H. and Margaret (Cummings) Weimer. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Kent; three sisters; and two grandchildren.
Surviving are three sons, Emory H. Kent, Gormania, W.Va., Edward A. Kent, Mount Storm, and Ernest R. Kent, Tampa, Fla.; four daughters, Catherine Pennington, Cresaptown, Eva Ellifritz, Eglon, W.Va., Margaret Willard, Glassport, Pa., and Joyce Lee Lewis, Swanton; 20 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, Kitzmiller, today, Thursday, Jan. 31, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A service will be held in the funeral home chapel tomorrow, Friday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. William McCallister officiating.
Interment will be in Mount Zion Cemetery.
HANNAH F. KITZMILLER
Hannah F. Kitzmiller, 82, Elk Garden, W.Va., died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser, W.Va.
Born April 18, 1919, in Elk Garden, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Henrietta (Oates) Junkins. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Kitzmiller.
Surviving are two sons, Harold Kitzmiller and Dale Kitzmiller, both of Elk Garden; two sisters, Velma Ruble, Elk Garden, and Carrie Watkins, St. George, W.Va.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Friends were received at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, Kitzmiller. A service was conducted on Monday, Jan. 28, in the House of Prayer in Hartmansville, with the Rev. Leslie Hipp officiating.
Interment was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Elk Garden.
GARLAND A. LEWIS
Garland Alvin Lewis, 79, Aurora, W.Va., died Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, at the home of his daughter in Norfolk, Va.
Born June 2, 1922, in Crellin, he was a son of Daniel Fuller and Ina Elizabeth (Lewis) Lewis. He was also preceded in death by five brothers, Chester McKinley, Floyd Roosevelt, Sherman Taft, Theodore Taft, and Archie Walter; three sisters, Alice Celestia, Theodosia May, and Gladys Belle; and one daughter, Donna Marie Tohill.
He retired from the U.S. Navy in 1964, and the U.S. Postal Service in Norfolk, Va. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, where he served on the USS Midway, the USS Saratoga, and the USS Interceptor. He maintained local family cemeteries around Preston and Garrett counties.
Surviving are two daughters, Sandra Lee Fleet, Norfolk, and Peggy Ann Austin, Virginia Beach, Va.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
A graveside memorial service will be held at Garrett County Memorial Gardens at a later date.

ALICE E. LOWERY
Alice Elizabeth Lowery, 87, Ellerslie, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2002, at Lions Manor Nursing Center, Cumberland.
Born Aug. 31, 1914, in Hyndman, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Robert and Alice (Guard) Campbell. The last surviving member of her immediate family, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Orvil Lester Lowery, in 1975; and by five brothers and five sisters.
Surviving are two sons, Donald W. Lowery, Ellerslie, and Twain N. Lowery, Corriganville; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was a homemaker and a caregiver for elderly friends and neighbors. She attended the Bethel Church of the Nazarene, Cumberland.
Friends were received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, where a service was conducted on Wednesday, Jan. 30, with the Rev. Kevin T. Lowery officiating.
Interment was in Porter Cemetery, Hyndman.
GARY D. MOYER
Gary D. Moyer, 41, Swanton, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, in Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Oct. 2, 1960, in Washington, D.C., he was a son of the late Walter D. and Flora (Fletcher) Moyer.
He was a self-employed drywall hanger, and member of the Flintstone Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a member of the Flintstone United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his children, Michael J. Moyer, Jodi L. Dixon, Jamie R. Moyer, and Jennifer M. Moyer, all of Flintstone; one sister, Gerry Minogue, Swanton; one brother, Steven Moyer, Flintstone; and two grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Hafer Funeral Home, LaVale, where a service was conducted on Monday, Jan. 28, with the Rev. Fred Iser officiating.
Interment was in the Glendale Cemetery, Flintstone.

Mark Clark Snyder, 61, Oakland, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2002, at Allegany Nursing Home, Cumberland.
Born Feb. 15, 1940, in McHenry, he was the son of the late Marshall Clark Snyder and Ruth (Miller) Snyder Lee. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Roberta Snyder.
Friends were received at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, where a service was conducted earlier today, Thursday, Jan. 31, with the Bishop Norman Schrock officiating.
Interment was in the Maple Spring Cemetery.
THELMA AIKEN
Thelma "Irene" Aiken, 81, Canton, Ohio, died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, in Hanover House following an extended illness.
Born Feb. 29, 1920, in Grantsville, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Mamie Stahl. She was also preceded in death by six brothers, Charles, Harold, David, Frank, Cecil, and Wilbur Stahl.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her husband, John R. Aiken; one daughter, Karen Mann, Louisville; one son, John W. Aiken, Canton; one brother, Clay Stahl, Texas; four sisters, Velma Bullock, Canton, Frances Bullock, Carrollton, Mary Urban, Massillon, Ohio, and Linda Wolf; two stepdaughters, Gail Gress and Barbara Aiken; two grandchildren; one greatgrandson; six stepgrandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren.
A service was conducted at Zion Lutheran Church on Thursday, Nov. 8, with the Rev. David C. Craig officiating.
Interment was in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens.
NANCY M. BAKER
Nancy M. Storch Baker, 59, Greensburg, Pa., formerly of New Kensington, Pa., and Oakland, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2002.
Born Sept. 12, 1942, in Mc-Keesport, Pa., she was a daughter of Theodore W. and Gwendolyn A. Van Tassel Storch.
She is survived by one son, Robert H. Baker, Jeannette, Pa.; two sisters, Mona Miller, Greensburg, and Joan Kuntz, Sugar Grove, Pa.; and three brothers, Dr. Regis T. Storch, Easton, Donald R. Storch, North Huntingdon, Pa., and David W. Storch, McKeesport.
Friends were received at the Jay A. Hoffer Funeral Home, Norvelt, Pa., where a service was conducted on Saturday, Jan. 19, with the Rev. Aaron Buzzelli, O.S.B., officiating.
Entombment was in St. Joseph Cemetery, East McKeesport.

VICTOR BRACEY
Victor Bracey, 86, Friendsville, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2002, at his home.
Born June 24, 1915, in Hamer, S.C., he was a son of the late Alfred Duckery and Mary (McLendon) Bracey. He was also preceded in death by one son, James Russell Bracey; four brothers, John, Howard, Leroy, and Grady; and three sisters, Edna Bracey, Belvin Bethea, and Rosalie Bethea.
He was a member of Oakland Methodist Church, Hamer, S.C., and was retired from J. Vinton Schaffer, Baltimore.
Survivors include his wife, Glenna (Sisler) Bracey; two sons, Alvin Bracey, Houston, and Malcolm Bracey, Baltimore; two daughters, Mary Rachinskis, Port Deposit, and Frances Oliver, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; 18 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, Friendsville, where a service was conducted on Tuesday, Jan. 22, with the Rev. Walker Jackson officiating.
Interment was in Blooming Rose Cemetery.
RICHARD D. BUCKEL JR.
Richard D. (Rick) Buckel Jr., 54, New Market, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2002, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born Feb. 11, 1947, in Cumberland, he was a son of the late Richard D. Buckel Sr. and Peggy J. (Moon) Buckel. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Teri Lynn Buckel.
He was a former Allegany County sheriff's deputy and professional dog handler, breeder, and judge. He was also an antique dealer in New Market. He was a 1965 graduate of Allegany High School, a past member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Cumberland, and a former member of the New Market and LaVale Lions clubs.
Surviving are his wife, Susan; one son, Jason C. Buckel, LaVale; one brother, Kim T. Buckel, Reisterstown; and one granddaughter.
A memorial service will be held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Bittinger, on Saturday, Jan. 26, at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Patricia Pittsnogle officiating. Refreshments will be provided for family and friends at the church's fellowship hall following the service.
His cremains will be interred in a private ceremony at the family gravesite in Bittinger at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that charitable contributions be made in his name to the memorial fund of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 215 Brenneman Road, Grantsville, MD 21536.
GOLDIE G. CHIDESTER
Goldie Grace Chidester, 93, Bruceton Mills, W.Va., died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002, at her home under the care of Hospice.
Born Dec. 30, 1908, in Friendsville, she was a daughter of the late Milton O. and Grace Sisler Friend. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Russell Chidester, Jan. 19, 1991; five brothers; one granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the White Rock Church of God and attended Mountain Dale Church of the Brethren.
Surviving are one son, Kenneth Chidester Sr., Bruceton Mills; one daughter, Helen Shriver, Winchester, Va.; three sisters, Pauline Frazee, Grantsville, Mary Teets, McHenry, and Ruth Williams, Springfield, Pa.; one half-brother, Ray VanSickle, Friendsville; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home, Brandonville, W.Va., where a service was conducted on Wednesday, Jan. 23, with the Revs. Philip Geoghan and Dennis Dawson officiating.
Interment was in the Centenary Cemetery, Bruceton Mills.

LEOTA V. COOK
Leota Virginia Cook, 85, a resident of Moran Manor Nursing Home, Westernport, formerly of Keyser, W.Va., died Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser.
Born Feb. 11, 1916, in Mineral County, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late John E. and Sarah M. (Reed) Miller. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charlie M. Cook, on Feb. 12, 1969; an infant son, Virgil M. Cook; three brothers, Robert F. Miller, Charles A. Miller, and James A. Miller; and three sisters, Emma B. Keller, Grace E. Miller, and Alice M. King.
She was a homemaker and attended the Living Faith Fellowship in Keyser for many years.
Surviving are four daughters, Rosalie L. Fazzalore, Keyser, Frances V. Roberts, Keyser, Alberta M. "Bertie" Miller, Grantsville, and Joann Ruble, Keyser; one brother, John Henry Miller Sr., Keyser; 14 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, where a service was conducted on Tuesday, Jan. 22, with Pastor Gordon Brubaker officiating.
Interment was in the Cabin Run Cemetery, Keyser.

Larry Carl Glass, 56, Accident, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002, upon arrival at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born Jan. 22, 1945, in Frostburg, he was a son of Elsie (Grove) Glass, Accident, and the late Carl Glass.
He was a self-employed electrician operating Complete Electrical Service for 36 years. He served in the Army National Guard. He was a member of State Line United Methodist Church and the Grantsville Lions Club. He was also coowner of See n Sew Embroidery for eight years.
Surviving are his wife, Donna M. (Rogers) Glass; three sons, Robert Glass, Bruceton Mills, W.Va., Michael Glass, Accident, and Eric Lapp, Oakland; two daughters, Melissa Bell, Zuni, Va., and Angela Fratz, Accident; one sister, Betty Wass, Addison, Pa.; two brothers, Donald Glass, Hanover, and Ronald Glass, Jarrettsville; and eight grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, where a service was conducted on Sunday, Jan. 20, with Pastor Brenda Shreve officiating.
Interment was in Grantsville Cemetery.
