Doris M. Showe
WILLIAMSPORT - Doris Mae Showe, 76, of 15647 Clear Spring Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000, at her home.
Born Feb. 27, 1923, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Della M. Myers and Chester Worthington.
She was a graduate of Williamsport High School.
She was a housewife.
She was a member of Rehoboth United Methodist Church in Williamsport.
She was a member of Potomac Post 202 American Legion Auxiliary in Williamsport.
She is survived by two daughters, Denise Curtis of Centreville, Va., and Debra Oliver of Williamsport; one son, Steven Showe of Hixon, Tenn.; four grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.
Graveside services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Williamsport. The Rev. Richard A. Kroll will officiate.
There will be no viewing.
Helen A. Pifer
ROCKVILLE, Md. - Helen A. Shank Pifer, 83, of 713 Grandin Ave., and Asbury Methodist Village, Gaithersburg, Md., died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2000, in Wilson Health Care Center, Transitional Care Unit, on the village complex.
Born March 18, 1916, on the family farm near Waynesboro, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Ira and Edna I. Miller Shank.
Her husband, Donald G. Pifer, died July 12, 1976. They were married
July 27, 1934.
She was a 1932 graduate of Waynesboro High School, and a 1934 graduate of York Business School.
For the last 25 years, she managed the Shank Family Farm. She was a bookkeeper for businesses in both Waynesboro and Rockville, including Arthur's Dairy in Waynesboro. Prior to retiring in 1986, she was the purchasing agent for Montgomery County Board of Education for more than 20 years.
She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, Waynesboro.
She was the first president and charter member of Rockville Dandylions, organized in 1954 as an auxiliary of Rockville Lions Club, then an all-male organization. She served as secretary of Rockville Lions Clubs; was a member of East Rockville Citizens Association; and National AARP.
She is survived by a son, Barry Pifer of Germantown, Md.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Lin M. Smalec will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
Viewing will be prior to the service.

Larry R. Ketterman Sr.
FREDERICK, Md. - Larry Raymond Ketterman Sr., 58, of 214 E. Patrick St., died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2000, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born July 11, 1941, in Frederick, he was the son of the late Harry Ira Arthur and Dorothy Ford Ketterman.
He had been a custodian at Walkersville Elementary School in Frederick County, Md.
He was a member of Apostolic Lighthouse United Pentecostal Church; and attended Downtown Community Church.
He was a volunteer firefighter with United Fire Company.
He is survived by two daughters, Donna J. Deneau of Walkersville, Md., and Brenda A. Summers of Frederick; two sons, Larry R. Ketterman Jr. of Hagerstown and Gregory W. Ketterman Sr. of Charles Town, W.Va.; two sisters, Betty M. Rowe of Laurel, Md., and Margaret E. Blank of Frederick; three brothers, his twin, Jerry L. Ketterman Sr., and Harry W. Ketterman, both of Frederick, and Gary W. Ketterman Sr., of Thurmont, Md.; nine grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; five step-grandchildren; his former wife, Shirley Greer Shepley of Frederick; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Larry R. Ketterman III.
Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. The Rev. Richard Glass will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
The family will receive friends today and Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Alice M. Sheeley
SMITHSBURG - Alice Marie Sheeley, 58, of East Main Street, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2000, at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown.
Born Dec. 20, 1941, in Waynesboro, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John A. and Ethel E. Pogue Sheeley.
She attended Youth for Youth School.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Smithsburg.
She was a member of Ladies Auxiliary of Smithsburg Volunteer Fire Company.
She is survived by four sisters, Sara A. Sheeley, Cindy L. Kline, Ida Belle White, all of Smithsburg, and Pauline Poffenberger; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Sarah A. Sheeley, and a brother, Chester C. Sheeley, Sr.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg. The Rev. Mark Walters will officiate. Burial will be in Smithsburg Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Flora M. Murray
Flora M. Murray, 93, of Avalon Manor Health Care Center in Hagerstown, and formerly of 109 N. Allison St., Greencastle, Pa., died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2000, at Avalon Manor Health Care Center in Hagerstown.
Born April 14, 1906, in Antrim Township, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John A. and Mary D. Atherton Murray.
She attended Waynesboro Business School in Waynesboro, Pa.
She was employed in the clothing department of ELM Department Store in Greencastle, retiring in 1965 after 21 years.
She was a member of Grace United Church of Christ in Greencastle.
She also was a member of National AARP.
She is survived by nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Cedar Hill cemetery in Greencastle. Pastor Mary C. Wehr will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill cemetery in Greencastle.
It was her request that there be no public viewing.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Grace United Church of Christ, 128 E. Baltimore St., Greencastle, PA 17225.
