Richard Davis
Richard Davis, 69, of Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999, at Hershey (Pa.) Medical Center.
Born Nov. 25, 1930, in Franklin County, Pa., he was the son of the late Robert A. and Mabel Heckman Davis.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was an employee of Western Maryland Railroad.
He was a 32nd degree Mason of Cumberland York Rite; Ali Ghan Shrine of Cumberland, Md.; Hagerstown Blue Lodge 217; Ithiel R.A. Chapter 27 Royal Arch Masonry; Palestine Council 16 R. & S.M. of Hagerstown; Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Hagerstown Forest 95; Hagerstown Shrine Club; St. Bernard Commandery of No. 9 Knights Templar; Raymond W. Barnes Masonic Temple Association; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 695; American Legion, Morris Frock Post 42; and B.P.O. Elks 378.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Sentz Davis; a daughter, Alice D. Lawrence of Richmond, Va.; a sister, Louella Hoover of Greencastle, Pa.; and a granddaughter.
Services will be Sunday at 7:50 p.m. at Hagerstown Masonic Lodge 217, 11227 Piper Lane in Hagerstown. The Rev. Arnold Brown will officiate.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Visitation will be Sunday from noon to 9 p.m. at Hagerstown Masonic Lodge 217, with the family receiving friends from 7 to 9 p.m. A Masonic memorial service will be Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at Hagerstown Masonic Lodge 217; they will post colors at 7:15 p.m. and the bag pipes will play at 7:45 p.m.
Charles E. Foster
RINGGOLD - Charles E. Foster, 81, of Barkdoll Road, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1999, at Waynesboro (Pa.) Hospital.
Born June 6, 1918, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Frank B. and Rosa I. Cline Foster.
He retired from Landis Tool Co. in Waynesboro.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Ringgold Church of Christ.
He was a member of Ringgold Ruritan Club; Salem Lodge 196 AF & AM of Smithsburg; Eastern Star of Union Bridge, Md.; Noland Chapter AARP of Chambersburg; and Sunshine Leisure Club of Smithsburg.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marybelle Boswell "Wink" Foster; three sons, Stephen C. Foster of Wolfsville, Lynn B. Foster of Waynesboro and James D. Foster of Ringgold; a sister, Loveous G. Smith of Waynesboro; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister; and four brothers.
Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Ringgold Church of Christ, Ringgold. Pastors Don Conley and Richard Daughtridge will officiate. Burial will be in Ringgold Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Davis Funeral Home in Smithsburg.

Martin E. Wempe
Martin Edward "Eddie" Wempe, 79, of 911 Frederick St., Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Jan. 7, 1920, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Edward Martin and May Agnes Firey Wempe.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances R. Wempe, on June 23, 1999.
He received his associate's degree in accounting at the University of Baltimore.
He was employed by Fairchild Aircraft.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the Pacific Theater during World War II.
He was a member of B.P.O. Elks 378; American Legion Williamsport Post 202; Williamsport Red Men; and 58th Fighter Association.
He is survived by two nephews, David A. Wolf of Hagerstown and Michael H. Wolf of Alpharetta, Ga.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Anne Wempe.
Services will be Monday, Jan. 3, at 2:30 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. in Hagerstown. The Rev. Carroll Boyer will officiate.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Preston E. Lehman Sr.
Preston Earl Lehman Sr., 74, of 21606 Leiter St., Hagerstown, who died Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999, is also survived by a daughter, Kathy J. Lehman of Hagerstown; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Mary E. Lohman
BOONSBORO - Mary Elizabeth Easterday Lohman, 91, of 143 S. Main St., died Monday, Dec. 27, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born March 25, 1908, in Boonsboro, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Laura J. Haller Easterday.
Her husband, Lloyd F. Lohman, died in 1960.
A foster care parent for the state of Maryland, she cared for 33 children over 20 years.
She was a member of First Christian Church of Boonsboro.
She was a member of Boonsboro Volunteer Fire Co. Ladies' Auxiliary.
She is survived by five nieces and nephews, Calledith Raines of Hagerstown, Delores A. Riley of Front Royal, Va., Rosemary L. Reeder of Boonsboro, Aubrey E. Daniels of Manassas, Va., and James E. Daniels of Front Royal; great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ellen E. Layton; two sisters, Alice Reeder and Annie Haller; and five brothers, Walter Cline, Gardner Easterday, Russell Easterday, Clayton Easterday and Charles Easterday.
Graveside services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Lutheran cemetery in Middletown, Md. The Rev. Ralph Massie will officiate.
There will be no viewing or visitation.

Clara O. Harbaugh
Clara Oda Harbaugh, 71, of 11403 Stonecroft Court, died Monday, Dec. 27, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Dec. 4, 1928, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Goldie Mae Mullen Powell.
Her husband, William E. Harbaugh, died in 1970.
She was a cook at the Venice Restaurant, retiring in 1990.
She is survived by two daughters, Susan Arroyo of Randallstown, Md., and Linda Smith of Williamsport; one son, Steven Harbaugh of Waynesboro, Pa.; two sisters, Annice Stelzer and Agnes Sweeney, both of Hagerstown; one brother, Max Powell of Hagerstown; five grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mildred L. Weaver
Mildred Louise Weaver, 83, of 906 Kenwood Drive, Hagerstown, died Monday, Dec. 27, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.
Born Aug. 13, 1916, in Halfway, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Minnie Lafever.
She attended Hagerstown Business College.
She was employed as a secretary by Schindel & Rohrer, and previously at Fairchild Aircraft.
She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her husband, William L. Weaver; and one stepson, William C. Weaver of Hagerstown.
Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Raymond H. Shriver will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.
